Assisted Tachyonic Inflation

The model of inflation with a single tachyon field generates larger anisotropy and has difficulties in describing the formation of the Universe . In this paper we consider a model with multi tachyon fields and study the assisted inflationary solution. Our results show that this model satisfies the observation.

Non-minimally Coupled Tachyon and Inflation

In this paper, we consider a model of tachyon with a non-minimal coupling to gravity and study its cosmological effects. Regarding inflation we will show that for a specific coupling of tachyon to gravity this model satisfies observations and solves various problems which exist in the single and multi tachyon inflation models.

Scalar Glueball Decay Into Pions In Effective Theory

We discuss the mixing between the sigma meson sigma and the "pure" glueball field H and study the decays of the scalar glueball candidates f_0(1370), f_0(1500) and f_0(1710) (a linear combination of sigma and H) into two pions in an effective linear sigma model.

Gravity In A Model Of Multi Branes Alternated Between Minkowski And AdS Spacetime In The Fifth Dimension

We construct in this paper a multi-brne model with Minkowski and AdS spacetime alternated in the fifth dimension and study the gravity on the brane of our universe. We will show that in this model there are both the graviton-like resonant states which generates the "quasi-localized gravity" and the resonant states of the massive KK mode. This model gives rise to gravity which deviates from the Newton gravitational potential at small and large scale which, however can be shown to be consistent with the observations in the absence of fine-tuning of the model parameters.

The Effect of 4D Effective Cosmological Constant On The Stability of Randall-Sundrum Scenario

We study the Randall-Sundrum model with a small 4D effective cosmological constant on the brane, and drive a corrected radion potential following the Goldberger-Wise mechanism. We then discuss the effect of the 4D effective cosmological constant on the stability of the brane-system, and find that to quintessence determined by updated observation, the proper distance between the two branes required to solve the hierarchy problem can exist. However, during inflation, whether we can get an reasonable hierarchy scale is still uncertain.

Solar Neutrino Zenith Angle Distribution and Uncertainty in Earth Matter Density

We estimate in this paper the errors in the zenith angle distribution for the charged current events of the solar neutrinos caused by the uncertainty of the earth electron density. In the model of PREM with a 5% uncertainty in the earth electron density we numerically calculate the corrections to the correlation between $ [N]_5 /[N]_2 $ and $ [N]_2 /[N]_3 $, and find the errors notable.

$σ$ Meson In $J/Ψ$ Decays

Recently BES at BEPC found evidence for the existence of the $σ$ meson in the process of $J/Ψ\to σω\toππω$. In this paper we firstly discuss the relevant coupling $g_{σππ}$ and show that the linear $σ$ model gives rise to a reasonable description of the $σ$ decay into $π$'s, then we calculate the coupling constant $g^{th}_{J/Ψσω}$ by using the perturbative QCD technique and the light-cone wave functions of the $σ$ and $ω$ mesons. The results show that the theoretical value of $g^{th}_{J/Ψσω}$ is within the range of experimental value $g_{J/Ψσω}$.

Quintessence and Spontaneous Leptogenesis

We propose in this paper a scenario of spontaneous baryogenesis in cosmological models of Quintessence by introducing a derivative coupling of the Quintessence scalar $Q$ to the baryon current $J_B^μ$ or the current of the baryon number minus lepton number $J_{B-L}^μ$. We find that with a dimension-5 operator ${\partial_μQ} J_{B-L}^μ$ suppressed by the Planck mass $M_{pl}$ or the Grand Unification Scale $M_{GUT}$, baryon number asymmetry $n_B/s \sim 10^{-10}$ can be naturally explained {\it via} leptogenesis. We study also the isocurvature baryon number fluctuation generated in our model.

Termination of the Phase of Quintessence by Gravitational Back-Reaction

We study the effects of gravitational back-reaction in models of Quintessence. The effective energy-momentum tensor with which cosmological fluctuations back-react on the background metric will in some cases lead to a termination of the phase of acceleration. The fluctuations we make use of are the perturbations in our present Universe. Their amplitude is normalized by recent measurements of anisotropies in the cosmic microwave background, their slope is taken to be either scale-invariant, or characterized by a slightly blue tilt. In the latter case, we find that the back-reaction effect of fluctuations whose present wavelength is smaller than the Hubble radius but which are stretched beyond the Hubble radius by the accelerated expansion during the era of Quintessence domination can become large. Since the back-reaction effects of these modes oppose the acceleration, back-reaction will lead to a truncation of the period of Quintessence domination. This result impacts on the recent discussions of the potential incompatibility between string theory and Quintessence.

Assisted Inflation in Randall-Sundrum Scenario

We extend the Randall-Sundrum(RS) model by adding a fundamental scalar field in the bulk, then study the multi-field assisted inflationary solution on brane. We will show that this model satisfies not only the observation, but also provides a solution to hierarchy problem. Furthermore in comparison with the chaotic inflation model with a single field in four space-time dimension, the parameters in our model required for a successful inflation are natural.

Kinetic decoupling of neutralino dark matter

After neutralinos cease annihilating in the early Universe, they may still scatter elastically from other particles in the primordial plasma. At some point in time, however, they will eventually stop scattering. We calculate the cross sections for neutralino elastic scattering from standard-model particles to determine the time at which this kinetic decoupling occurs. We show that kinetic decoupling occurs above a temperature $T\sim$ MeV. Thereafter, neutralinos act as collisionless cold dark matter.

Prospect of a very long baseline neutrino oscillation experiment: HIPA to Beijing

We discuss the prospects of a very long baseline neutrino oscillation experiment from HIPA to Beijing. The current understanding of neutrino oscillations, both theoretically and experimentally, are summarized. The figure of merits for interested physics measurements are defined and compared at different distances: 300 km, 700 km, 2100 km and 3000 km. We conclude that a baseline more than 2100 km is optimal. A large water cerenkov calorimeter was proposed and its performance is satisfactory from a Monte Carlo simulation study. Such a large detector can do many other measurements on cosmic-rays physics and astrophysics.

On Stability Of The Crystal Universe Models

We generalize the Goldberger-Wise mechanism and study the stability of the Crystal Universe models. We show that the model can be stabilized, however for configurations of Crystal Universe in the absence of fine-tuning, brane crystals are not equidistant, i.e. a $"-+"$ pair is far away from adjacent $"-+"$ pair, except for the fixed points of the orbifold, which differs from the assumptions taken in the literature.

Vacuum Stability Higgs Mass Bound Revisited with Implications for Extra Dimension Theories

We take the standard model to be an effective theory including higher dimensional operators suppressed by scale $Λ$ and re-examine the higgs mass bounds from the requirements of vacuum stability. Our results show that the effects of the higher dimensional operators on the higgs mass limits are significant. As an implication of our results, we study the vacuum stability higgs mass bounds in theories with extra dimensions.

We evaluate the contribution of SUSY-QCD to top-charm associated production at next generation linear colliders. Our results show that the production cross section of the process $e^+e^-\to t\bar c{or}\bar t c$ could be as large as 0.1 fb, which is larger than the prediction of the SM by a factor of $10^8$.

Flavor Changing processes in Quarkonium Decays

We study flavor changing processes $Υ\to B/{\bar B} X_s$ and $J/ψ\to D/{\bar D} X_u$ in the B factories and the Tau-Charm factories. In the standard model, these processes are predicted to be unobservable, so they serve as a probe of the new physics. We first perform a model independent analysis, then examine the predictions of models; such as TopColor models, MSSM with R-parity violation and the two Higgs doublet model; for the branching ratios of $Υ\to B/{\bar B} X_s$ and $J/ψ\to D/{\bar D} X_u$ . We find that these branching ratios could be as large as $10^{-6}$ and $10^{-5}$ in the presence of new physics.
