Constraints on Oscillating Quintom from Supernova, Microwave Background and Galaxy Clustering

We consider in this paper a simple oscillating Quintom model of dark energy which has two free parameters and an equation of state oscillating and crossing -1. For low redshifts the equation of state of this model resembles itself similar to the linearly parameterized dark energy, however differ substantially at large redshifts. We fit our model to the observational data separately from the new high redshift supernova observations from the HST/GOODS program and previous supernova, CMB and galaxy clustering. Our results show that because of the oscillating feature of our model the constraints from observations at large redshifts such as CMB become less stringent.

Cosmological Evolution of a Quintom Model of Dark Energy

We investigate in this paper the cosmological evolution of a dark energy model with two scalar fields where one of the scalar has canonical kinetic energy and another scalar has negative kinetic energy term. For such a system with exponential potentials we find that during the evolution of the universe the equation of state $w$ changes from $w>-1$ to $w<-1$, which is consistent with the recent observations. A phase-plane analysis shows that the "phantom"-dominated scaling solution is the stable late-time attractor of this type of models.

Interacting Dark Energy

In this paper I discuss some of the phenomenologies of models of the dark energy interacting with the ordinary matter. After a very brief review about the current constraint on the equation of the state of the dark energy from the SN and a new scenario of dark energy {\it the Quintom}, I present models of Quintessential Baryo(Lepto)genesis, Quintessino dark matter and mass varying neutrinos in details.

Phenomenology of quintessino dark matter -- Production of NLSP particles

In the model of quintessino as dark matter particle, the dark matter and dark energy are unified in one superfield, where the dynamics of the Quintessence drives the Universe acceleration and its superpartner, quintessino, makes up the dark matter of the Universe. This scenario predicts the existence of long lived $\tildeτ$ as the next lightest supersymmetric particle. In this paper we study the possibility of detecting $\tildeτ$ produced by the high energy cosmic neutrinos interacting with the earth matter. By a detailed calculation we find that the event rate is one to several hundred per year at a detector with effective area of $1 km^2$. The study in this paper can be also applied for models of gravitino or axino dark matter particles.

The FCNC top-squark decay as a probe of squark mixing

In supersymmetry (SUSY) the flavor mixing between top-squark (stop) and charm-squark (scharm) induces the flavor-changing neutral-current (FCNC) stop decay $\tilde t_1 \to c \tilde χ^0_1$. Searching for this decay serves as a probe of soft SUSY breaking parameters. Focusing on the stop pair production followed by the FCNC decay of one stop and the charge-current decay of the other stop, we investigate the potential of detecting this FCNC stop decay at the Fermilab Tevatron, the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC) and the next-generation $e^+e^-$ linear collider (LC). We find that this decay may not be accessible at the Tevatron, but could be observable at the LHC and the LC with high sensitivity.

Thermal leptogenesis in a model with mass varying neutrinos

In this paper we consider the possibility of neutrino mass varying during the evolution of the Universe and study its implications on leptogenesis. Specifically, we take the minimal seesaw model of neutrino masses and introduce a coupling between the right-handed neutrinos and the dark energy scalar field, the Quintessence. In our model, the right-handed neutrino masses change as the Quintessence scalar evolves. We then examine in detail the parameter space of this model allowed by the observed baryon number asymmetry. Our results show that it is possible to lower the reheating temperature in this scenario in comparison with the case that the neutrino masses are unchanged, which helps solve the gravitino problem. Furthermore, a degenerate neutrino mass patten with $m_i$ larger than the upper limit given in the minimal leptogenesis scenario is permitted.

Fermionic partner of Quintessence field as candidate for dark matter

Quintessence is a possible candidate for dark energy. In this paper we study the phenomenologies of the fermionic partner of Quintessence, the Quintessino. Our results show that, for suitable choices of the model parameters, the Quintessino is a good candidate for cold or warm dark matter. In our scenario, dark energy and dark matter of the Universe are connected in one chiral superfield.

Gravitational Leptogenesis and Neutrino Mass Limit

Recently Davoudiasl {\it et al} \cite{steinhardt} have introduced a new type of interaction between the Ricci scalar $R$ and the baryon current $J^μ$, ${\partial_μR} J^μ$ and proposed a mechanism for baryogenesis, the gravitational baryogenesis. Generally, however, $\partial_μ R$ vanishes in the radiation dominated era. In this paper we consider a generalized form of their interaction, $\partial_μf(R)J^μ$ and study again the possibility of gravitational baryo(lepto)genesis. Taking $f(R)\sim \ln R$, we will show that $\partial_μf(R)\sim \partial_μ R/R$ does not vanish and the required baryon number asymmetry can be {\it naturally} generated in the early universe.

Inflation in string-inspired cosmology and suppression of CMB low multipoles

We construct a string-inspired nonsingular cosmological scenario in which an inflaton field is driven up the potential before the graceful exit by employing a low-energy string effective action with an orbifold compactification. This sets up an initial condition for the inflaton to lead to a sufficient amount of $e$-foldings and to generate a nearly scale-invariant primordial density perturbation during slow-roll inflation. Our scenario provides an interesting possibility to explain a suppressed power spectrum at low multipoles due to the presence of the modulus-driven phase prior to slow-roll inflation and thus can leave a strong imprint of extra dimensions in observed CMB anisotropies.

Suppressing CMB Quadrupole with a Bounce from Contracting Phase to Inflation

Recent released WMAP data show a low value of quadrupole in the CMB temperature fluctuations, which confirms the early observations by COBE. In this paper, a scenario, in which a contracting phase is followed by an inflationary phase, is constructed. We calculate the perturbation spectrum and show that this scenario can provide a reasonable explanation for lower CMB anisotropies on large angular scales.

Double sneutrino inflation and its phenomenologies

In this paper we study double scalar neutrino inflation in the minimal supersymmetric seesaw model in light of WMAP. Inflation in this model is firstly driven by the heavier sneutrino field $\tilde{N}_2$ and then the lighter field $\tilde{N}_1$. we will show that with the mass ratio $6\lesssim M_2/M_1 \lesssim 10$ the model predicts a suppressed primordial scalar spectrum around the largest scales and the predicted CMB TT quadrupole is much better suppressed than the single sneutrino model. So this model is more favored than the single sneutrino inflation model. We then consider the implications of the model on the reheating temperature, leptogenesis and lepton flavor violation. Our results show that the seesaw parameters are constrained strongly by the reheating temperature, together with the requirement by a successful inflation. The mixing between the first generation and the other two generations in the right-handed neutrino sector is tiny. The rates of lepton flavor violating processes in our scenario depend on only 4 unknown seesaw parameters through a 'reduced' seesaw formula, besides $U_{e3}$ and the supersymmetric parameters. We find that the branching ratio of $μ\to e γ$ is generally near the present experimental limit, while ${\rm Br}(τ\to μγ)$ is around $\mathcal{O}(10^{-10} - 10^{-9})$.

An inflation model with large variations in spectral index

Recent fits of cosmological parameters by the Wilkinson Microwave Anisotropy Probe (WMAP) measurement favor a primordial scalar spectrum with varying index. This result, if stands, could severely constrain inflation model buildings. Most extant slow-roll inflation models allow for only a tiny amount of scale variations in the spectrum. We propose in this paper an extra-dimensional inflation model which is natural theoretically and can generate the required variations of the spectral index as implied by the WMAP for suitable choices of parameters.

K-essential Leptogenesis

K-essence is a possible candidate for dark energy of the Universe. In this paper we consider couplings of k-essence to the matter fields of the standard electroweak theory and study the effects of the cosmological CPT violation induced by the CPT violating {\bf Ether} during the evolution of the k-essence scalar field on the laboratory experiments and baryogenesis. Our results show that the matter and antimatter asymmetry can be naturally explained {\it via} leptogenesis without conflicting with the experimental limits on CPT violation test. The mechanism for baryogenesis proposed in this paper provides a unified picture for dark energy and baryon matter of our Universe and allows an almost degenerate neutrino mass pattern with a predicted rate on the neutrinoless double beta decays accessible to the experimental sensitivity in the near future.

Double Inflation and the Low CMB Quadrupole

Recent released WMAP data show a low value of quadrupole in the CMB temperature fluctuations, which confirms the early observations by COBE. In this paper we consider a model of two inflatons with different masses, $V(ϕ_1,ϕ_2)={1\over 2}m_1^2ϕ_1^2 + {1 \over 2} m_2^2 ϕ_2^2$, $m_1>m_2$ and study its effects on CMB of suppressing the primordial power spectrum $P(k)$ at small $k$. Inflation is driven in this model firstly by the heavier inflaton $ϕ_1$, then the lighter field $ϕ_2$. But there is no interruption in between. We numerically calculate the scalar and tensor power spectra with mode by mode integrations, then fit the model to WMAP temperature correlations TT and the TE temperature-polarization spectra. Our results show that with $m_1\sim 10^{14}$ GeV and $m_2\sim 10^{13}$ GeV, this model solves the problems of flatness {\it etc.} and the CMB quadrupole predicted can be much lower than the standard power-law $Λ$CDM model.

Dark Energy and Neutrino Mass Limits from Baryogenesis

In this brief report we consider couplings of the dark energy scalar, such as Quintessence to the neutrinos and discuss its implications in studies on the neutrino mass limits from Baryogenesis. During the evolution of the dark energy scalar, the neutrino masses vary, consequently the bounds on the neutrino masses we have here differ from those obtained before.

Brane Inflation from Rotation of D4 Brane

In this paper, a inflationary model from the rotation of D4-brane is constructed. We show that for a very wide rage of parameter, this model satisfies the observation and find that regarded as inflaton, the rotation of branes may be more nature than the distance between branes. Our model offers a new avenue for brane inflation.

Modification to the power spectrum in the brane world inflation driven by the bulk inflaton

We compute the cosmological perturbations generated in the brane world inflation driven by the bulk inflaton. Different from the model that the inflation is a brane effect, we exhibit the modification of the power spectrum of scalar perturbations due to the existence of the fifth dimension. With the change of the initial vacuum, we investigate the dependence of the correction of the power spectrum on the choice of the vacuum.

Its influence to the measurement of CP violation is investigated and a comparison with the commonly used global density models made. Significant differences are found in the comparison of the results of the different density models.
