Probing for the Cosmological Parameters with PLANCK Measurement

We investigate the constraints on cosmological parameters especially for EoS of dark energy, inflationary parameters, neutrino mass and curvature of universe using simulated Planck data. Firstly we determine cosmological parameters with current observations including ESSENCE, WMAP3, Boomerang-2K2, CBI, VSA, ACBAR, SDSS LRG and 2dFGRS, and take best-fit model as the fiducial model in simulations. In simulations we pay attention to the effects of dynamical dark energy in determination of cosmological parameters. We add simulated SNAP data to do all the simulations. Using present data, we find Quintom dark energy model is mildly favored while \LambdaCDM remains a good fit. In the framework of dynamical dark energy, the constraints on inflationary parameters, m_ν and Ω_{K} become weak compared with the constraints in \LambdaCDM. Intriguingly, we find that the inflationary models with a "blue" tilt, which are excluded about 2σin \LambdaCDM model, are well within 2σregion with the presence of the dynamics of dark energy. The upper limits of neutrino mass are weakened by a factor of 2 (95% C.L.), say, m_ν<1.59 eV and m_ν<1.53 eV for two forms of parametrization of the equation of state of dark energy. The flat universe is a good fit to the current data, namely, |Ω_{K}|<0.03 (95% C.L.). With the simulated Planck and SNAP data, dynamical dark energy and \LambdaCDM might be distinguished at 4σ. And uncertainties of inflationary parameters, m_ν and Ω_{K} can be reduced obviously. We also constrain the rotation angle Δα, denoting possible cosmological CPT violation, with simulated Planck and CMBpol data and find that our results are much more stringent than current constraint and will verify cosmological CPT symmetry with a higher precision. Cyclic Universe with Quintom matter in Loop Quantum Cosmology

In this paper, we study the possibility of model building of cyclic universe with Quintom matter in the framework of Loop Quantum Cosmology. After a general demonstration, we provide two examples, one with double-fluid and another double-scalar field, to show how such a scenario is obtained. Analytical and numerical calculations are both presented in the paper.

Constraints on Dark Energy Models Including Gamma Ray Bursts

In this paper we analyze the constraints on the property of dark energy from cosmological observations. Together with SNe Ia Gold sample, WMAP, SDSS and 2dFGRS data, we include 69 long Gamma-Ray Bursts (GRBs) data in our study and perform global fitting using Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) technique. Dark energy perturbations are explicitly considered. We pay particular attention to the time evolution of the equation of state of dark energy parameterized as $w_{DE}=w_0+w_a(1-a)$ with $a$ the scale factor of the universe, emphasizing the complementarity of high redshift GRBs to other cosmological probes. It is found that the constraints on dark energy become stringent by taking into account high redshift GRBs, especially for $w_a$, which delineates the evolution of dark energy.

Cosmological CPT Violation, Baryon/Leptogenesis and CMB Polarization

In this paper we study the cosmological CPT-violation and its implications in baryo/leptogenesis and CMB polarization. We propose specifically a variant of the models of gravitational leptogenesis. By performing a global analysis with the Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) method, we find the current CMB polarization observations from the three-year WMAP (WMAP3) and the 2003 flight of BOOMERANG (B03) data provide a weak evidence for our model. However to verify and especially exclude this type of mechanism for baryo/leptogenesis with cosmological CPT-violation, the future measurements on CMB polarization from PLANCK and CMBpol are necessary.

Probing for variation of neutrino mass with current observations

With the latest astronomical data including Cosmic Microwave Background (WMAP three year, CBI, ACBAR, VSA), Type Ia Supernova ("gold sample"), Galaxy Clustering (SDSS 3-D matter power, Lyman-$α$ forest and Baryon Acoustic Oscillating (BAO)), we make a global fitting to constrain the mass varying neutrinos. We find that the parameter $δ$, denoting time evolving of neutrino mass, is weakly constrained and the neutrino mass limit today can be relaxed at least by a factor of two. Adding data of $0\nu2β$ decay of Heidelberg-Moscow experiment to our analysis, we find that $δ$ can be constrained tightly and mass varying neutrinos are favored at about 99.7% confidence level.

A String-Inspired Quintom Model Of Dark Energy

We propose in this paper a quintom model of dark energy with a single scalar field $ϕ$ given by the lagrangian ${\cal L}=-V(ϕ)\sqrt{1-α^\prime\nabla_μϕ\nabla^μϕ+β^\prime ϕ\Boxϕ}$. In the limit of $β^\prime\to$0 our model reduces to the effective low energy lagrangian of tachyon considered in the literature. We study the cosmological evolution of this model, and show explicitly the behaviors of the equation of state crossing the cosmological constant boundary.

Cosmological neutrino mass limit and the dynamics of dark energy

We investigate the correlation between the neutrino mass limit and dark energy with time evolving equation of state. Parameterizing dark energy as w=w_0+w_1*z/(1+z), we make a global fit using Markov Chain Monte Carlo technique to determine w_0, w_1, neutrino mass as well as other cosmological parameters simultaneously. We pay particular attention to the correlation between neutrino mass Σm_ν and w_1 using current cosmological observations as well as the future simulated datasets such as PLANCK, SNAP and LAMOST.

Bouncing Universe with Quintom Matter

The bouncing universe provides a possible solution to the Big Bang singularity problem. In this paper we study the bouncing solution in the universe dominated by the Quintom matter with an equation of state (EoS) crossing the cosmological constant boundary. We will show explicitly the analytical and numerical bouncing solutions in three types of models for the Quintom matter with an phenomenological EoS, the two scalar fields and a scalar field with a modified Born-Infeld action.

Cosmic Duality in Quintom Universe

In this paper we study the duality in two-field Quintom models of Dark Energy. We find that an expanding universe dominated by Quintom-A field is dual to a contracting universe with Quintom-B field.

Dark Energy and Neutrino CPT Violation

In this paper we study the dynamical CPT violation in the neutrino sector induced by the dark energy of the Universe. Specifically we consider a dark energy model where the dark energy scalar derivatively interacts with the right-handed neutrinos. This type of derivative coupling leads to a cosmological CPT violation during the evolution of the background field of the dark energy. We calculate the induced CPT violation of left-handed neutrinos and find the CPT violation produced in this way is consistent with the present experimental limit and sensitive to the future neutrino oscillation experiments, such as the neutrino factory.

Probing for dynamics of dark energy and curvature of universe with latest cosmological observations

We use the newly released 182 Type Ia supernova data combined with the third-year Wilkinson Microwave Anisotropic Probe data (WMAP3) and large scale structure (LSS) information including SDSS and 2dFGRS to constrain the dark energy equation of state (EoS) as well as the curvature of universe $Ω_K$. Using the full dataset of Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) and LSS rather than the shift parameter and linear growth factor, we make a Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) global fit, while paying particular attention to the dark energy perturbation. Parameterizing the EoS as $w_{DE}(a) = w_{0} + w_{1}(1-a)$, we find the best fit of ($w_0,w_1$) is ($-1.053,0.944$) and for $w_{DE}(a) = w_{0} + w_{1}\sin({3/2}π\ln(a))$, the best fit for ($w_0,w_1$) is ($-1.614,-1.046$). We find that a flat universe is a good approximation, namely, $|Ω_K|>0.06$ has been excluded by 2$σ$ yet the inclusion of $Ω_K$ can affect the measurement of DE parameters owing to their correlation and the present systematic effects of SNIa measurements.

Weighing neutrinos in the presence of a running primordial spectral index

The three-year WMAP(WMAP3), combined with other cosmological observations from galaxy clustering and Type Ia Supernova (SNIa), prefers a non-vanishing running of the primordial spectral index independent of the low CMB multipoles. Motivated by this feature we study cosmological constraint on the neutrino mass, which severely depends on what prior we adopt for the spectral shape of primordial fluctuations, taking possible running into account. As a result we find a more stringent constraint on the sum of the three neutrino masses, m_ν< 0.76eV (2 σ), compared with m_ν< 0.90eV (2 σ) for the case where power-law prior is adopted to the primordial spectral shape.

Two-Field Quintom Models in the w-w' Plane

The w-w' plane, defined by the equation of state parameter for the dark energy and its derivative with respect to the logarithm of the scale factor, is useful to the study of classifying the dynamical dark energy models. In this note, we examine the evolving behavior of the two-field quintom models with w crossing the w=-1 barrier in the w-w' plane. We find that these models can be divided into two categories, type A quintom in which w changes from >-1 to <-1 and type B quintom in which w changes from <-1 to >-1 as the universe expands.

Features in Dark Energy Equation of State and Modulations in the Hubble Diagram

We probe the time dependence of the dark energy equation of state (EOS) in light of three-year WMAP (WMAP3) and the combination with other tentative cosmological observations from galaxy clustering (SDSS) and Type Ia Supernova (SNIa). We mainly focus on cases where the EOS is oscillating or with local bumps. By performing a global analysis with the Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) method, we find the current observations, in particular the WMAP3 + SDSS data combination, allow large oscillations of the EOS which can leave oscillating features on the (residual) Hubble diagram, and such oscillations are potentially detectable by future observations like SNAP, or even by the CURRENTLY ONGOING SNIa observations. Local bumps of dark energy EOS can also leave imprints on CMB, LSS and SNIa. In cases where the bumps take place at low redshifts and the effective EOS are close to -1, CMB and LSS observations cannot give constraints on such possibilities. However, geometrical observations like (future) SNIa can possibly detect such features. On the other hand when the local bumps take place at higher redshifts beyond the detectability of SNIa, future precise observations like Gamma-ray bursts, CMB and LSS may possibly detect such features. In particular, we find that bump-like dark energy EOS on high redshifts might be responsible for the features of WMAP on ranges l \sim 30-50, which is interesting and deserves addressing further.

Probing Inflation and Dark Energy with Current Cosmological Observations

It is commonly believed that our Universe has experienced two different stages of accelerated expansion. The early stage is known as inflation and the current acceleration is driven by dark energy. Observing inflation and dark energy dynamics are among the most important aspects of the current cosmological research. In this paper we make a first detailed probe of possible degeneracies between dynamical inflation and dark energy in light of current cosmological observations. We find the inclusion of inflation and dark energy parameters together make the parameter spaces broader, but interestingly deviation from scale-invariant primordial spectrum is sightly more favored by current cosmological observations when one marginalizes over dynamical dark energy models.

Searching for CPT Violation with Cosmic Microwave Background Data from WMAP and BOOMERANG

We search for signatures of Lorentz and $CPT$ violations in the cosmic microwave background (CMB) temperature and polarization anisotropies by using the WMAP and the 2003 flight of BOOMERANG (B03) data. We note that if the Lorentz and $CPT$ symmetries are broken by a Chern-Simons term in the effective lagrangian, which couples the dual electromagnetic field strength tensor to an external four-vector, the polarization vectors of propagating CMB photons will get rotated. Using the WMAP data alone, one could put an interesting constraint on the size of such a term. Combined with the B03 data, we found that a nonzero rotation angle of the photons is mildly favored: $Δα= -6.0^{+4.0}_{-4.0}$ $^{+3.9}_{-3.7}$ deg (1, 2 $σ$).

Supernova Constraints on Models of Neutrino Dark Energy

In this paper we use the recently released Type Ia Supernova (SNIa) data to constrain the interactions between the neutrinos and the dark energy scalar fields. In the analysis we take the dark energy scalars to be either Quintessence-like or Phantom-like. Our results show the data mildly favor a model where the neutrinos couple to a phantom-like dark energy scalar, which implies the equation of state of the coupled system behaves like Quintom scenario in the sense of parameter degeneracy. We find future observations like SNAP are potentially promising to measure the couplings between neutrino and dark energy.

Probing Dynamics of Dark Energy with Supernova, Galaxy Clustering and the Three-Year Wilkinson Microwave Anisotropy Probe (WMAP) Observations

Using the Markov chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) method we perform a global analysis constraining the dynamics of dark energy in light of the supernova (Riess "Gold" samples), galaxy clustering (SDSS 3D power spectra and SDSS lyman-αforest information) and the latest three-year Wilkinson Microwave Anisotropy Probe (WMAP) observations. We have allowed the dark energy equation of state to get across -1 and pay particular attention to the effects when incorrectly neglecting dark energy perturbations. We find the parameter space of dynamical dark energy is now well constrained and neglecting dark energy perturbations will make the parameter space significantly smaller. Dynamical dark energy model where the equation of state crosses -1 is mildly favored and the standard \LambdaCDM model is still a good fit to the current data.
