Gamma rays from dark matter annihilation in the Draco and observability at ARGO

The CACTUS experiment recently observed a gamma ray excess above 50 GeV from the direction of the Draco dwarf spheroidal galaxy. Considering that Draco is dark matter dominated the gamma rays may be generated through dark matter annihilation in the Draco halo. In the framework of the minimal supersymmetric extension of the standard model we explore the parameter space to account for the gamma ray signals at CACTUS. We find that the neutralino mass is constrained to be approximately in the range between 100 GeV ~ 400 GeV and a sharp central cuspy of the dark halo profile in Draco is necessary to explain the CACTUS results. We then discuss further constraints on the supersymmetric parameter space by observations at the ground based ARGO detector. It is found that the parameter space can be strongly constrained by ARGO if no excess from Draco is observed above 100 GeV.

Oscillating Quintom and the Recurrent Universe

Current observations seem to mildly favor an evolving dark energy with the equation of state getting across -1. This form of dark energy, dubbed Quintom, is studied phenomenologically in this paper with an oscillating equation of state. We find oscillating Quintom can unify the early inflation and current acceleration of the universe, leading to oscillations of the Hubble constant and a recurring universe. Our oscillating Quintom would not lead to a big crunch nor big rip. The scale factor keeps increasing from one period to another and leads naturally to a highly flat universe. The universe in this model recurs itself and we are only staying among one of the epochs, in which sense the coincidence problem is reconciled.

Vacuum Stability in Split Susy and Little Higgs Models

We study the stability of the effective higgs potential in the split supersymmetry and Little Higgs models. In particular, we study the effects of higher dimensional operators in the effective potential on the higgs mass predictions. We find that the size and sign of the higher dimensional operators can significantly change the higgs mass required to maintain vacuum stability in Split Susy models. In the Little Higgs models the effects of higher dimensional operators can be large because of a relatively lower cut-off scale. Working with a specific model we find that a contribution from the higher dimensional operator with coefficient of O(1) can destabilize the vacuum.

Observing Dark Energy Dynamics with Supernova, Microwave Background and Galaxy Clustering

Observing dark energy dynamics is the most important aspect of the dark energy research. In this paper we perform an analysis of the constraints on the property of dark energy from the current astronomical observations. We pay particular attention to the effects of dark energy perturbations. Using the data from SNIa (157 "gold" sample), WMAP and SDSS we find that the best fitting dark energy model is given by the dynamical model with the equation of state across -1. Nevertheless the standard \LambdaCDM models are still a very good fit to the current data and evidence for dynamics is currently not very strong. We also consider the constraints from SNLS.

Detecting dark energy in long baseline neutrino oscillations

In this paper, we discuss a possibility of studying properties of dark energy in long baseline neutrino oscillation experiments. We consider two types of models of neutrino dark energy. For one type of models the scalar field is taken to be quintessence-like and for the other phantom-like. In these models the scalar fields couple to the neutrinos to give rise to a spatially varying neutrino masses. We will show that the two types of models predict different behaviors of the spatial variation of the neutrino masses inside Earth and consequently result in different signals in long baseline neutrino oscillation experiments.

Perturbations of the Quintom Models of Dark Energy and the Effects on Observations

We study in this paper the perturbations of the quintom dark energy model and the effects of quintom perturbations on the current observations. Quintom describes a scenario of dark energy where the equation of state gets across the cosmological constant boundary $w = -1$ during evolution. We present a new method to show that the conventional dark energy models based on single k-essence field and perfect fluid cannot act as quintom due to the singularities and classical instabilities of perturbations around $w = -1$. One needs to add extra degrees of freedom for successful quintom model buildings. There are no singularities or classical instabilities in perturbations of realistic quintom models and they are potentially distinguishable from the cosmological constant. Basing on the realistic quintom models in this paper we provide one way to include the perturbations for dark energy models with parametrized equation of state across -1. Compare with those assuming no dark energy perturbations, we find that the parameter space which allows the equation of state to get across -1 will be enlarged in general when including the perturbations.

A Single Scalar Field Model of Dark Energy with Equation of State Crossing -1

In this paper we study the possibility of building models of dark energy with equation of state across -1 and propose explicitly a model with a single scalar field which gives rise to an equation of state larger than -1 in the past and less than -1 at the present time, consistent with the current observations.

Cosmological Evolution of Interacting Dark Energy Models with Mass Varying Neutrinos

In this paper we consider the cosmological implications of dark energy models with a coupled system of a dynamical scalar field (the quintessence) and the neutrinos. By detailed numerical calculations we study the various possibilities on the evolution and the fates of the universe in this class of models. Our results show that due to the interaction with quintessence, neutrinos could be dominant over the quintessence in the future universe, however would eventually decay away.

Dark Energy and Its Interactions with Neutrinos

In this talk I will firstly review on the current constraints on the equation of state of the dark energy from observational data, then present a new scenario of dark energy dubbed {\it Quintom}. The recent fits to the type Ia supernova data and the cosmic microwave background and so on in the literature find that the behavior of dark energy is to great extent in consistency with a cosmological constant, however the dynamical dark energy scenarios are generally not ruled out, and one class of models with an equation of state transiting from below -1 to above -1 as the redshift increases is mildly favored. The second part of the talk is on interacting dark energy. I will review briefly on the models of neutrino dark energy.

Gravitational Leptogenesis and Its Signatures in CMB

We study the phenomenologies in astrophysics and particularly in CMB associated with the gravitational leptogenesis. Our results show that future CMB polarization experiments, such as PLANCK and CMBpol will make a possible test on this class of model for leptogenesis.

Natural Inflation, Planck Scale Physics and Oscillating Primordial Spectrum

In the ``natural inflation'' model, the inflaton potential is periodic. We show that Planck scale physics may induce corrections to the inflaton potential, which is also periodic with a greater frequency. Such high frequency corrections produce oscillating features in the primordial fluctuation power spectrum, which are not entirely excluded by the current observations and may be detectable in high precision data of cosmic microwave background (CMB) anisotropy and large scale structure (LSS) observations.

Possible Effects of Dark Energy on the Detection of Dark Matter Particles

We study in this paper the possible influence of the dark energy on the detection of the dark matter particles. In models of dark energy described by a dynamical scalar field such as the Quintessence, its interaction with the dark matter will cause the dark matter particles such as the neutralino vary as a function of space and time. Given a specific model of the Quintessence and its interaction in this paper we calculate numerically the corrections to the neutralino masses and the induced spectrum of the neutrinos from the annihilation of the neutralinos pairs in the core of the Sun. This study gives rise to a possibility of probing for dark energy in the experiments of detecting the dark matter particles.

Two-field Models of Dark Energy with Equation of State Across -1

In this paper, we study the possibility of building two-field models of dark energy with equation of state across -1. Specifically we will consider two classes of models: one consists of two scalar fields (Quintessence+Phantom) and another includes one scalar (Phantom) and one spinor field (Neutrino). Our studies indicate to some extent that two-field models give rise to a simple realization of the dynamical dark energy model with the equation of state across $w = -1$.

The c-quark EDM and production of $h_c$ in $e^+e^-$ annihilation

We analyze the charm quark electric dipole moment (EDM) in the minimal supersymmetric extension of the standard model (MSSM), including important two-loop gluino contributions. Considering the experimental constraint on the neutron EDM, the theoretical prediction for the charm quark EDM can reach about $10^{-20}e\cdot cm$. If taking into account the mixing between the scharm and stop quarks in the effective supersymmetry scenario, the charm quark EDM can be enhanced to $\sim 10^{-19}e\cdot cm$. Direct production of the CP-odd $^1P_1$ state $h_c$ in $e^+e^-$ annihilation via the CP-violating process at the BES-III and CLEO-C is analyzed.

Dark Energy Constraints from the Cosmic Age and Supernova

Using the low limit of cosmic ages from globular cluster and the white dwarfs: $t_0 > 12$Gyr, together with recent new high redshift supernova observations from the HST/GOODS program and previous supernova data, we give a considerable estimation of the equation of state for dark energy, with uniform priors as weak as $0.2<Ω_m<0.4$ or $0.1<Ω_m h^2<0.16$. We find cosmic age limit plays a significant role in lowering the upper bound on the variation amplitude of dark energy equation of state. We propose in this paper a new scenario of dark energy dubbed Quintom, which gives rise to the equation of state larger than -1 in the past and less than -1 today, satisfying current observations. In addition we've also considered the implications of recent X-ray gas mass fraction data on dark energy, which favors a negative running of the equation of state.

Two-loop gluino contributions to neutron electric dipole moment in CP violating MSSM

We analyze two-loop gluino corrections to the neutron electric dipole moment (EDM) in the minimal supersymmetry extension of the standard model (MSSM). The dependence of two-loop corrections on the relevant CP violating phases differs from that of the one-loop contributions, and there is a region in the parameter space where the two-loop contributions are comparable with the one-loop contributions. Our numerical results show that the two-loop corrections can be as large as 30% of the one-loop results.

Signal of the pion string at high-energy collisions

We study the possible signals of a pion string associated with the QCD chiral phase transition in LHC Pb - Pb collision at energy $ \sqrt{s}=5.5$ TeV. In terms of the Kibble-Zurek mechanism we discuss the production and evolution of the pion string. The pion string is not topologically stable, it decays into neutral pions and sigma mesons which in turn decay into pions. Our results show that all the neutral pions from the pion string are distributed at the low momentum and the ratio of neutral to charged pions from the pion string violates the isospin symmetry. For the momentum spectra of the total pions, the signal from the sigma particle decay which is from the pion string will be affected by the large decay width of the sigma significantly.

Testing Mass Varying Neutrino With Short Gamma Ray Burst

In this paper we study the possibility of probing for the absolute neutrino mass and its variation with short Gamma Ray Burst (GRB). We have calculated the flight time difference between a massive neutrino and a photon in two different approaches to mass varying neutrinos. Firstly we parametrize the neutrino mass as a function of redshift in a model independent way, then we consider two specific models where the neutrino mass varies during the evolution of the Quintessence fields. Our calculations show in general the value of the time delay is changed substantially relative to a constant neutrino mass. Furthermore our numerical results show that the flight time delay in these models is expected to be larger than the duration time of the short GRB, which opens a possibility of testing the scenario of mass varying neutrino with the short GRB.
