Propagation dynamics of an acid-mediated invasion model with degenerate tumor diffusion

We investigate traveling wave fronts for an acid-mediated tumor invasion model with density-dependent degenerate diffusion. The model is a partially diffusive PDE--ODE system of Gatenby--Gawlinski type, in which the tumor diffusion coefficient $D(U)$ is allowed to be a general decreasing function satisfying $D(1)=0$. This degeneracy causes the traveling wave equation for the tumor component to lose uniform ellipticity near the healthy state, and hence standard arguments for nondegenerate reaction diffusion systems are not directly applicable. To overcome this difficulty, we introduce a nonlinear change of variables which removes the degeneracy from the highest-order term of the tumor equation. For each fixed admissible tumor profile, the acid profile is represented by a Green kernel, while the healthy-tissue profile is obtained from an explicit integral formula. The transformed tumor profile is then constructed as the stationary limit of a uniformly parabolic auxiliary problem. By combining comparison principles, local Schauder estimates, carefully chosen super- and sub-solutions, and the Schauder fixed-point theorem, we prove the existence of traveling wave fronts for every wave speed $\theta\ge 2\sqrt{rD(0)}$. The resulting wave connects the tumor-dominant state $(0,1,1)$ at $z=-\infty$ to the healthy state $(1,0,0)$ at $z=+\infty$. We further establish strict pointwise bounds, monotonicity of all wave components, and one-sided exponential asymptotic estimates in both the transformed variable and the original traveling-wave variable.

Wireless communication empowers online scheduling of partially-observable transportation multi-robot systems in a smart factory

Achieving agile and reconfigurable production flows in smart factories depends on online multi-robot task assignment (MRTA), which requires online collision-free and congestion-free route scheduling of transportation multi-robot systems (T-MRS), e.g., collaborative automatic guided vehicles (AGVs). Due to the real-time operational requirements and dynamic interactions between T-MRS and production MRS, online scheduling under partial observability in dynamic factory environments remains a significant and under-explored challenge. This paper proposes a novel communication-enabled online scheduling framework that explicitly couples wireless machine-to-machine (M2M) networking with route scheduling, enabling AGVs to exchange intention information, e.g., planned routes, to overcome partial observations and assist complex computation of online scheduling. Specifically, we determine intelligent AGVs' intention and sensor data as new M2M traffic and tailor the retransmission-free multi-link transmission networking to meet real-time operation demands. This scheduling-oriented networking is then integrated with a simulated annealing-based MRTA scheme and a congestion-aware A*-based route scheduling method. The integrated communication and scheduling scheme allows AGVs to dynamically adjust collision-free and congestion-free routes with reduced computational overhead. Numerical experiments shows the impacts from wireless communication on the performance of T-MRS and suggest that the proposed integrated scheme significantly enhances scheduling efficiency compared to other baselines, even under high AGV load conditions and limited channel resources. Moreover, the results reveal that the scheduling-oriented wireless M2M communication design fundamentally differs from human-to-human communications, implying new technological opportunities in a wireless networked smart factory.

Ground-state properties of finite nuclei in relativistic Hartree-Bogoliubov theory with an improved quark mass density-dependent model

A relativistic Hartree-Bogoliubov (RHB) model based on quark-meson coupling is developed, with a new parametrization derived from experimental observables. Using this model, we systematically investigate the ground-state properties of even-even nuclei spanning $8\leq Z\leq118$, including binding energies, quadrupole deformations, root-mean-square (rms) charge radii, two-nucleon separation energies, two-nucleon shell gaps, and $\alpha$-decay energies. Comparisons with available experimental data demonstrate that this subnucleon-based RHB model reliably describes the ground-state properties of finite nuclei.

PNE-SGAN: Probabilistic NDT-Enhanced Semantic Graph Attention Network for LiDAR Loop Closure Detection

LiDAR loop closure detection (LCD) is crucial for consistent Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM) but faces challenges in robustness and accuracy. Existing methods, including semantic graph approaches, often suffer from coarse geometric representations and lack temporal robustness against noise, dynamics, and viewpoint changes. We introduce PNE-SGAN, a Probabilistic NDT-Enhanced Semantic Graph Attention Network, to overcome these limitations. PNE-SGAN enhances semantic graphs by using Normal Distributions Transform (NDT) covariance matrices as rich, discriminative geometric node features, processed via a Graph Attention Network (GAT). Crucially, it integrates graph similarity scores into a probabilistic temporal filtering framework (modeled as an HMM/Bayes filter), incorporating uncertain odometry for motion modeling and utilizing forward-backward smoothing to effectively handle ambiguities. Evaluations on challenging KITTI sequences (00 and 08) demonstrate state-of-the-art performance, achieving Average Precision of 96.2\% and 95.1\%, respectively. PNE-SGAN significantly outperforms existing methods, particularly in difficult bidirectional loop scenarios where others falter. By synergizing detailed NDT geometry with principled probabilistic temporal reasoning, PNE-SGAN offers a highly accurate and robust solution for LiDAR LCD, enhancing SLAM reliability in complex, large-scale environments.

LagKV: Lag-Relative Information of the KV Cache Tells Which Tokens Are Important

The increasing size of the Key-Value (KV) cache during the Large Language Models long-context inference is the main obstacle for its balance between the deployment cost and task accuracy. To reduce the KV cache size in such scenarios, most previous efforts leveraged on the attention weight to evict non-critical cache tokens. But there is a trade-off in those methods, they usually require major modification of the inference infrastructure and significant computation overhead. Based on the fact that the Large Language models are autoregressive models, we propose LagKV, a KV compression strategy only relying on straight forward comparison among KV themselves. It is a totally attention free method which offers easy integration to the main stream inference platform and comparable performance comparing to other complicated KV compression methods. Results on RULER benchmark show that, our approach outperforms SnapKV and StreamingLLM in different compression ratios. Especially in the 64-digit passkey retrieval task, our method outperforms the attention weight based method $H_2O$ over $50\%$ with same compression ratios. Our code is available at https://github.com/AI-Lab-China-Merchants-Bank/LagKV.

SP-SLAM: Neural Real-Time Dense SLAM With Scene Priors

Neural implicit representations have recently shown promising progress in dense Simultaneous Localization And Mapping (SLAM). However, existing works have shortcomings in terms of reconstruction quality and real-time performance, mainly due to inflexible scene representation strategy without leveraging any prior information. In this paper, we introduce SP-SLAM, a novel neural RGB-D SLAM system that performs tracking and mapping in real-time. SP-SLAM computes depth images and establishes sparse voxel-encoded scene priors near the surfaces to achieve rapid convergence of the model. Subsequently, the encoding voxels computed from single-frame depth image are fused into a global volume, which facilitates high-fidelity surface reconstruction. Simultaneously, we employ tri-planes to store scene appearance information, striking a balance between achieving high-quality geometric texture mapping and minimizing memory consumption. Furthermore, in SP-SLAM, we introduce an effective optimization strategy for mapping, allowing the system to continuously optimize the poses of all historical input frames during runtime without increasing computational overhead. We conduct extensive evaluations on five benchmark datasets (Replica, ScanNet, TUM RGB-D, Synthetic RGB-D, 7-Scenes). The results demonstrate that, compared to existing methods, we achieve superior tracking accuracy and reconstruction quality, while running at a significantly faster speed.

iFADIT: Invertible Face Anonymization via Disentangled Identity Transform

Face anonymization aims to conceal the visual identity of a face to safeguard the individual's privacy. Traditional methods like blurring and pixelation can largely remove identifying features, but these techniques significantly degrade image quality and are vulnerable to deep reconstruction attacks. Generative models have emerged as a promising solution for anonymizing faces while preserving a natural appearance. However, many still face limitations in visual quality and often overlook the potential to recover the original face from the anonymized version, which can be valuable in specific contexts such as image forensics. This paper proposes a novel framework named iFADIT, an acronym for Invertible Face Anonymization via Disentangled Identity Transform. The framework features a disentanglement architecture coupled with a secure flow-based model: the former decouples identity information from non-identifying attributes, while the latter transforms the decoupled identity into an anonymized version in an invertible manner controlled by a secret key. The anonymized face can then be reconstructed based on a pre-trained StyleGAN that ensures high image quality and realistic facial details. Recovery of the original face (aka de-anonymization) is possible upon the availability of the matching secret, by inverting the anonymization process based on the same set of model parameters. Furthermore, a dedicated secret-key mechanism along with a dual-phase training strategy is devised to ensure the desired properties of face anonymization. Qualitative and quantitative experiments demonstrate the superiority of the proposed approach in anonymity, reversibility, security, diversity, and interpretability over competing methods.

Whole-Body Impedance Coordinative Control of Wheel-Legged Robot on Uncertain Terrain

This article propose a whole-body impedance coordinative control framework for a wheel-legged humanoid robot to achieve adaptability on complex terrains while maintaining robot upper body stability. The framework contains a bi-level control strategy. The outer level is a variable damping impedance controller, which optimizes the damping parameters to ensure the stability of the upper body while holding an object. The inner level employs Whole-Body Control (WBC) optimization that integrates real-time terrain estimation based on wheel-foot position and force data. It generates motor torques while accounting for dynamic constraints, joint limits, friction cones, real-time terrain updates, and a model-free friction compensation strategy. The proposed whole-body coordinative control method has been tested on a recently developed quadruped humanoid robot. The results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm effectively controls the robot, maintaining upper body stability to successfully complete a water-carrying task while adapting to varying terrains.

Uncovering the Secrets of Human-Like Movement: A Fresh Perspective on Motion Planning

This article explores human-like movement from a fresh perspective on motion planning. We analyze the coordinated and compliant movement mechanisms of the human body from the perspective of biomechanics. Based on these mechanisms, we propose an optimal control framework that integrates compliant control dynamics, optimizing robotic arm motion through a response time matrix. This matrix sets the timing parameters for joint movements, turning the system into a time-parameterized optimal control problem. The model focuses on the interaction between active and passive joints under external disturbances, improving adaptability and compliance. This method achieves optimal trajectory generation and balances precision and compliance. Experimental results on both a manipulator and a humanoid robot validate the approach.

A Fairness-Oriented Control Framework for Safety-Critical Multi-Robot Systems: Alternative Authority Control

This paper proposes a fair control framework for multi-robot systems, which integrates the newly introduced Alternative Authority Control (AAC) and Flexible Control Barrier Function (F-CBF). Control authority refers to a single robot which can plan its trajectory while considering others as moving obstacles, meaning the other robots do not have authority to plan their own paths. The AAC method dynamically distributes the control authority, enabling fair and coordinated movement across the system. This approach significantly improves computational efficiency, scalability, and robustness in complex environments. The proposed F-CBF extends traditional CBFs by incorporating obstacle shape, velocity, and orientation. F-CBF enhances safety by accurate dynamic obstacle avoidance. The framework is validated through simulations in multi-robot scenarios, demonstrating its safety, robustness and computational efficiency.

PhysHand: A Hand Simulation Model with Physiological Geometry, Physical Deformation, and Accurate Contact Handling

In virtual Hand-Object Interaction (HOI) scenarios, the authenticity of the hand's deformation is important to immersive experience, such as natural manipulation or tactile feedback. Unrealistic deformation arises from simplified hand geometry, neglect of the different physics attributes of the hand, and penetration due to imprecise contact handling. To address these problems, we propose PhysHand, a novel hand simulation model, which enhances the realism of deformation in HOI. First, we construct a physiologically plausible geometry, a layered mesh with a "skin-flesh-skeleton" structure. Second, to satisfy the distinct physics features of different soft tissues, a constraint-based dynamics framework is adopted with carefully designed layer-corresponding constraints to maintain flesh attached and skin smooth. Finally, we employ an SDF-based method to eliminate the penetration caused by contacts and enhance its accuracy by introducing a novel multi-resolution querying strategy. Extensive experiments have been conducted to demonstrate the outstanding performance of PhysHand in calculating deformations and handling contacts. Compared to existing methods, our PhysHand: 1) can compute both physiologically and physically plausible deformation; 2) significantly reduces the depth and count of penetration in HOI.

Curvilinear object segmentation in medical images based on ODoS filter and deep learning network

Automatic segmentation of curvilinear objects in medical images plays an important role in the diagnosis and evaluation of human diseases, yet it is a challenging uncertainty in the complex segmentation tasks due to different issues such as various image appearances, low contrast between curvilinear objects and their surrounding backgrounds, thin and uneven curvilinear structures, and improper background illumination conditions. To overcome these challenges, we present a unique curvilinear structure segmentation framework based on an oriented derivative of stick (ODoS) filter and a deep learning network for curvilinear object segmentation in medical images. Currently, a large number of deep learning models emphasize developing deep architectures and ignore capturing the structural features of curvilinear objects, which may lead to unsatisfactory results. Consequently, a new approach that incorporates an ODoS filter as part of a deep learning network is presented to improve the spatial attention of curvilinear objects. Specifically, the input image is transfered into four-channel image constructed by the ODoS filter. In which, the original image is considered the principal part to describe various image appearance and complex background illumination conditions, a multi-step strategy is used to enhance the contrast between curvilinear objects and their surrounding backgrounds, and a vector field is applied to discriminate thin and uneven curvilinear structures. Subsequently, a deep learning framework is employed to extract various structural features for curvilinear object segmentation in medical images. The performance of the computational model is validated in experiments conducted on the publicly available DRIVE, STARE and CHASEDB1 datasets. The experimental results indicate that the presented model yields surprising results compared with those of some state-of-the-art methods.

Multi-dimensional Data Quick Query for Blockchain-based Federated Learning

Due to the drawbacks of Federated Learning (FL) such as vulnerability of a single central server, centralized federated learning is shifting to decentralized federated learning, a paradigm which takes the advantages of blockchain. A key enabler for adoption of blockchain-based federated learning is how to select suitable participants to train models collaboratively. Selecting participants by storing and querying the metadata of data owners on blockchain could ensure the reliability of selected data owners, which is helpful to obtain high-quality models in FL. However, querying multi-dimensional metadata on blockchain needs to traverse every transaction in each block, making the query time-consuming. An efficient query method for multi-dimensional metadata in the blockchain for selecting participants in FL is absent and challenging. In this paper, we propose a novel data structure to improve the query efficiency within each block named MerkleRB-Tree. In detail, we leverage Minimal Bounding Rectangle(MBR) and bloom-filters for the query process of multi-dimensional continuous-valued attributes and discrete-valued attributes respectively. Furthermore, we migrate the idea of the skip list along with an MBR and a bloom filter at the head of each block to enhance the query efficiency for inter-blocks. The performance analysis and extensive evaluation results on the benchmark dataset demonstrate the superiority of our method in blockchain-based FL.

Lifelike Agility and Play in Quadrupedal Robots using Reinforcement Learning and Generative Pre-trained Models

Knowledge from animals and humans inspires robotic innovations. Numerous efforts have been made to achieve agile locomotion in quadrupedal robots through classical controllers or reinforcement learning approaches. These methods usually rely on physical models or handcrafted rewards to accurately describe the specific system, rather than on a generalized understanding like animals do. Here we propose a hierarchical framework to construct primitive-, environmental- and strategic-level knowledge that are all pre-trainable, reusable and enrichable for legged robots. The primitive module summarizes knowledge from animal motion data, where, inspired by large pre-trained models in language and image understanding, we introduce deep generative models to produce motor control signals stimulating legged robots to act like real animals. Then, we shape various traversing capabilities at a higher level to align with the environment by reusing the primitive module. Finally, a strategic module is trained focusing on complex downstream tasks by reusing the knowledge from previous levels. We apply the trained hierarchical controllers to the MAX robot, a quadrupedal robot developed in-house, to mimic animals, traverse complex obstacles and play in a designed challenging multi-agent chase tag game, where lifelike agility and strategy emerge in the robots.

Energy-Efficient Routing Protocol Based on Multi-Threshold Segmentation in Wireless Sensors Networks for Precision Agriculture

Wireless sensor networks (WSNs), one of the fundamental technologies of the Internet of Things (IoT), can provide sensing and communication services efficiently for IoT-based applications, especially energy-limited applications. Clustering routing protocol plays an important role in reducing energy consumption and prolonging network lifetime. The cluster formation and cluster head selection are the key to improving the performance of the clustering routing protocol. An energy-efficient routing protocol based on multi-threshold segmentation (EERPMS) was proposed in this paper to improve the rationality of cluster formation and cluster head selection. In the stage of cluster formation, inspired by multi-threshold image segmentation, an innovative node clustering algorithm was developed. In the stage of cluster head selection, aiming at minimizing the network energy consumption, a calculation theory of the optimal number and location of cluster heads was established. Furthermore, a novel cluster head selection algorithm was constructed based on the residual energy and optimal location of cluster heads. Simulation results show that EERPMS can improve the distribution uniformity of cluster heads, prolong the network lifetime and save up to 64.50%, 58.60%, and 56.15% network energy as compared to RLEACH, CRPFCM, and FIGWO protocols respectively.

Game Theory and Coverage Optimization Based Multihop Routing Protocol for Network Lifetime in Wireless Sensor Networks

Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) are self-organizing monitoring networks with a large number of randomly deployed microsensor nodes to collect various physical information to realize tasks such as intelligent perception, efficient control, and decision-making. However, WSN nodes are powered by batteries, so they will run out of energy after a certain time. This energy limitation will greatly constrain the network performance like network lifetime and energy efficiency. In this study, to prolong the network lifetime, we proposed a multi-hop routing protocol based on game theory and coverage optimization (MRP-GTCO). Briefly, in the stage of setup, two innovational strategies including a clustering game with penalty function and cluster head coverage set were designed to realize the uniformity of cluster head distribution and improve the rationality of cluster head election. In the data transmission stage, we first derived the applicable conditions theorem of inter-cluster multi-hop routing. Based on this, a novel multi-hop path selection algorithm related to residual energy and node degree was proposed to provide an energy-efficient data transmission path. The simulation results showed that the MRP-GTCO protocol can effectively reduce the network energy consumption and extend the network lifetime by 159.22%, 50.76%, and 16.46% compared with LGCA, RLEACH, and ECAGT protocols.

Seeing is Believing: Detecting Sybil Attack in FANET by Matching Visual and Auditory Domains

The flying ad hoc network (FANET) will play a crucial role in the B5G/6G era since it provides wide coverage and on-demand deployment services in a distributed manner. The detection of Sybil attacks is essential to ensure trusted communication in FANET. Nevertheless, the conventional methods only utilize the untrusted information that UAV nodes passively ``heard'' from the ``auditory" domain (AD), resulting in severe communication disruptions and even collision accidents. In this paper, we present a novel VA-matching solution that matches the neighbors observed from both the AD and the ``visual'' domain (VD), which is the first solution that enables UAVs to accurately correlate what they ``see'' from VD and ``hear'' from AD to detect the Sybil attacks. Relative entropy is utilized to describe the similarity of observed characteristics from dual domains. The dynamic weight algorithm is proposed to distinguish neighbors according to the characteristics' popularity. The matching model of neighbors observed from AD and VD is established and solved by the vampire bat optimizer. Experiment results show that the proposed VA-matching solution removes the unreliability of individual characteristics and single domains. It significantly outperforms the conventional RSSI-based method in detecting Sybil attacks. Furthermore, it has strong robustness and achieves high precision and recall rates.

Physics-data-driven intelligent optimization for large-scale meta-devices

Meta-devices have gained significant attention and have been widely utilized in optical systems for focusing and imaging, owing to their lightweight, high-integration, and exceptional-flexibility capabilities. However, based on the assumption of local phase approximation, traditional design method neglect the local lattice coupling effect between adjacent meta-atoms, thus harming the practical performance of meta-devices. Using physics-driven or data-driven optimization algorithms can effectively solve the aforementioned problems. Nevertheless, both of the methods either involve considerable time costs or require a substantial amount of data sets. Here, we propose a physics-data-driven approach based "intelligent optimizer" that enables us to adaptively modify the sizes of the studied meta-atom according to the sizes of its surrounding ones. Such a scheme allows to mitigate the undesired local lattice coupling effect, and the proposed network model works well on thousands of datasets with a validation loss of 3*10-3. Experimental results show that the 1-mm-diameter metalens designed with the "intelligent optimizer" possesses a relative focusing efficiency of 93.4% (as compared to ideal focusing) and a Strehl ratio of 0.94. In contrast to the previous inverse design method, our method significantly boosts designing efficiency with five orders of magnitude reduction in time. Our design approach may sets a new paradigm for devising large-scale meta-devices.
