On the $H$-property for Step-graphons: The Residual Case

We investigate the $H$-property for step-graphons. Specifically, we sample graphs $G_n$ on $n$ nodes from a step-graphon and evaluate the probability that $G_n$ has a Hamiltonian decomposition in the asymptotic regime as $n\to\infty$. It has been shown that for almost all step-graphons, this probability converges to either zero or one. We focus in this paper on the residual case where the zero-one law does not apply. We show that the limit of the probability still exists and provide an explicit expression of it. We present a complete proof of the result and validate it through numerical studies.

AI4X Roadmap: Artificial Intelligence for the advancement of scientific pursuit and its future directions

Artificial intelligence and machine learning are reshaping how we approach scientific discovery, not by replacing established methods but by extending what researchers can probe, predict, and design. In this roadmap we provide a forward-looking view of AI-enabled science across biology, chemistry, climate science, mathematics, materials science, physics, self-driving laboratories and unconventional computing. Several shared themes emerge: the need for diverse and trustworthy data, transferable electronic-structure and interatomic models, AI systems integrated into end-to-end scientific workflows that connect simulations to experiments and generative systems grounded in synthesisability rather than purely idealised phases. Across domains, we highlight how large foundation models, active learning and self-driving laboratories can close loops between prediction and validation while maintaining reproducibility and physical interpretability. Taken together, these perspectives outline where AI-enabled science stands today, identify bottlenecks in data, methods and infrastructure, and chart concrete directions for building AI systems that are not only more powerful but also more transparent and capable of accelerating discovery in complex real-world environments.

RAVEN++: Pinpointing Fine-Grained Violations in Advertisement Videos with Active Reinforcement Reasoning

Advertising (Ad) is a cornerstone of the digital economy, yet the moderation of video advertisements remains a significant challenge due to their complexity and the need for precise violation localization. While recent advancements, such as the RAVEN model, have improved coarse-grained violation detection, critical gaps persist in fine-grained understanding, explainability, and generalization. To address these limitations, we propose RAVEN++, a novel framework that introduces three key innovations: 1) Active Reinforcement Learning (RL), which dynamically adapts training to samples of varying difficulty; 2) Fine-Grained Violation Understanding, achieved through hierarchical reward functions and reasoning distillation; and 3) Progressive Multi-Stage Training, which systematically combines knowledge injection, curriculum-based passive RL, and active RL. Extensive experiments on both public and proprietary datasets, on both offline scenarios and online deployed A/B Testing, demonstrate that RAVEN++ outperforms general-purpose LLMs and specialized models like RAVEN in terms of fine-grained violation understanding, reasoning capabilities, and generalization ability.

Deception in Nash Equilibrium Seeking

In socio-technical multi-agent systems, deception exploits privileged information to induce false beliefs in "victims," keeping them oblivious and leading to outcomes detrimental to them or advantageous to the deceiver. We consider model-free Nash-equilibrium-seeking for non-cooperative games with asymmetric information and introduce model-free deceptive algorithms with stability guarantees. In the simplest algorithm, the deceiver includes in his action policy the victim's exploration signal, with an amplitude tuned by an integrator of the regulation error between the deceiver's actual and desired payoff. The integral feedback drives the deceiver's payoff to the payoff's reference value, while the victim is led to adopt a suboptimal action, at which the pseudogradient of the deceiver's payoff is zero. The deceiver's and victim's actions turn out to constitute a "deceptive" Nash equilibrium of a different game, whose structure is managed - in real time - by the deceiver. We examine quadratic, aggregative, and more general games and provide conditions for a successful deception, mutual and benevolent deception, and immunity to deception. Stability results are established using techniques based on averaging and singular perturbations. Among the examples in the paper is a microeconomic duopoly in which the deceiver induces in the victim a belief that the buyers disfavor the deceiver more than they actually do, leading the victim to increase the price above the Nash price, and resulting in an increased profit for the deceiver and a decreased profit for the victim. A study of the deceiver's integral feedback for the desired profit reveals that, in duopolies with equal marginal costs, a deceiver that is greedy for very high profit can attain any such profit, and pursue this with arbitrarily high integral gain (impatiently), irrespective of the market preference for the victim.

Real-time Ad retrieval via LLM-generative Commercial Intention for Sponsored Search Advertising

The integration of Large Language Models (LLMs) with retrieval systems has shown promising potential in retrieving documents (docs) or advertisements (ads) for a given query. Existing LLM-based retrieval methods generate numeric or content-based DocIDs to retrieve docs/ads. However, the one-to-few mapping between numeric IDs and docs, along with the time-consuming content extraction, leads to semantic inefficiency and limits scalability in large-scale corpora. In this paper, we propose the Real-time Ad REtrieval (RARE) framework, which leverages LLM-generated text called Commercial Intentions (CIs) as an intermediate semantic representation to directly retrieve ads for queries in real-time. These CIs are generated by a customized LLM injected with commercial knowledge, enhancing its domain relevance. Each CI corresponds to multiple ads, yielding a lightweight and scalable set of CIs. RARE has been implemented in a real-world online system, handling daily search volumes in the hundreds of millions. The online implementation has yielded significant benefits: a 5.04% increase in consumption, a 6.37% rise in Gross Merchandise Volume (GMV), a 1.28% enhancement in click-through rate (CTR) and a 5.29% increase in shallow conversions. Extensive offline experiments show RARE's superiority over ten competitive baselines in four major categories.

On Infinite-horizon Minimum Energy Control

We address the infinite-horizon minimum energy control problem for linear time-invariant finite-dimensional systems $(A, B)$. We show that the problem admits a solution if and only if $(A, B)$ is stabilizable and $A$ does not have imaginary eigenvalues.

MemFusionMap: Working Memory Fusion for Online Vectorized HD Map Construction

High-definition (HD) maps provide environmental information for autonomous driving systems and are essential for safe planning. While existing methods with single-frame input achieve impressive performance for online vectorized HD map construction, they still struggle with complex scenarios and occlusions. We propose MemFusionMap, a novel temporal fusion model with enhanced temporal reasoning capabilities for online HD map construction. Specifically, we contribute a working memory fusion module that improves the model's memory capacity to reason across a history of frames. We also design a novel temporal overlap heatmap to explicitly inform the model about the temporal overlap information and vehicle trajectory in the Bird's Eye View space. By integrating these two designs, MemFusionMap significantly outperforms existing methods while also maintaining a versatile design for scalability. We conduct extensive evaluation on open-source benchmarks and demonstrate a maximum improvement of 5.4% in mAP over state-of-the-art methods. CipherDM: Secure Three-Party Inference for Diffusion Model Sampling

Diffusion Models (DMs) achieve state-of-the-art synthesis results in image generation and have been applied to various fields. However, DMs sometimes seriously violate user privacy during usage, making the protection of privacy an urgent issue. Using traditional privacy computing schemes like Secure Multi-Party Computation (MPC) directly in DMs faces significant computation and communication challenges. To address these issues, we propose CipherDM, the first novel, versatile and universal framework applying MPC technology to DMs for secure sampling, which can be widely implemented on multiple DM based tasks. We thoroughly analyze sampling latency breakdown, find time-consuming parts and design corresponding secure MPC protocols for computing nonlinear activations including SoftMax, SiLU and Mish. CipherDM is evaluated on popular architectures (DDPM, DDIM) using MNIST dataset and on SD deployed by diffusers. Compared to direct implementation on SPU, our approach improves running time by approximately 1.084\times \sim 2.328\times, and reduces communication costs by approximately 1.212\times \sim 1.791\times.

Pole Placement and Feedback Stabilization for Discrete Linear Ensemble Systems

We consider discrete ensembles of linear, scalar control systems with single-inputs. Assuming that all the individual systems are unstable, we investigate whether there exist linear feedback control laws that can asymptotically stabilize the ensemble system. We provide necessary/sufficient conditions for feasibility of pole placement in the left half plane and for feedback stabilizability of the ensemble systems.

Decentralized Concurrent Learning with Coordinated Momentum and Restart

This paper studies the stability and convergence properties of a class of multi-agent concurrent learning (CL) algorithms with momentum and restart. Such algorithms can be integrated as part of the estimation pipelines of data-enabled multi-agent control systems to enhance transient performance while maintaining stability guarantees. However, characterizing restarting policies that yield stable behaviors in decentralized CL systems, especially when the network topology of the communication graph is directed, has remained an open problem. In this paper, we provide an answer to this problem by synergistically leveraging tools from graph theory and hybrid dynamical systems theory. Specifically, we show that under a cooperative richness condition on the overall multi-agent system's data, and by employing coordinated periodic restart with a frequency that is tempered by the level of asymmetry of the communication graph, the resulting decentralized dynamics exhibit robust asymptotic stability properties, characterized in terms of input-to-state stability bounds, and also achieve a desirable transient performance. To demonstrate the practical implications of the theoretical findings, three applications are also presented: cooperative parameter estimation over networks with private data sets, cooperative model-reference adaptive control, and cooperative data-enabled feedback optimization of nonlinear plants.

Graphons and the $H$-property

A graphon satisfies the $H$-property if graphs sampled from it contain a Hamiltonian decomposition almost surely, which in turn implies that the corresponding network topologies are, e.g., structurally stable and structurally ensemble controllable. In recent papers, we have exhibited a set of conditions that is essentially necessary and sufficient for the $H$-property to hold for the finite-dimensional class of step-graphons. The extension to the infinite-dimensional case of general graphons was hindered by the fact that said conditions relied on objects that do not admit immediate extensions to the infinite-dimensional case. We outline here our approach to bypass this difficulty and state conditions that guarantee that the $H$-property holds for general graphons.

Strong anti-Hebbian plasticity alters the convexity of network attractor landscapes

In this paper, we study recurrent neural networks in the presence of pairwise learning rules. We are specifically interested in how the attractor landscapes of such networks become altered as a function of the strength and nature (Hebbian vs. anti-Hebbian) of learning, which may have a bearing on the ability of such rules to mediate large-scale optimization problems. Through formal analysis, we show that a transition from Hebbian to anti-Hebbian learning brings about a pitchfork bifurcation that destroys convexity in the network attractor landscape. In larger-scale settings, this implies that anti-Hebbian plasticity will bring about multiple stable equilibria, and such effects may be outsized at interconnection or `choke' points. Furthermore, attractor landscapes are more sensitive to slower learning rates than faster ones. These results provide insight into the types of objective functions that can be encoded via different pairwise plasticity rules.

Analytical Method for Metasurface-Based Cloaking Under Arbitrary Oblique Illumination

The performance of antennas can severely deteriorate in the presence of adjacent electrically-large scatterers. In this work, we use a conducting hollow cylinder to shield the scatterer. The cylinder is shelled with single layer dielectric and electromagnetic metasurface. The scattering field analysis with respect to the surface impedance is derived. By optimizing the anisotropic impedance distribution, the scattering cross-section can be effectively reduced. The proposed method is valid for both TMz, TEz and non-TM/TE incident field. The accuracy and effectiveness of the method are verified by four cloaking scenarios in microwave regime. We demonstrate that with the surface impedance obtained by our method, a metasurface is designed with physical subwavelength structure. We also show a cloaking scenario under magnetic dipole radiation, which is closer to the case of a realistic antenna. This method can be further applied to cloaking tasks in terahertz and optical regimes.

Rapid FRD determination for multiplexed fibre systems -- I. The quasi-near field model and its uncertainties

Focal Ratio Degradation (FRD) in fibres is a crucial factor to control in astronomical instruments in order to minimize light loss. As astronomical instrumentation has advanced, the integration of large populations of fibres has become common. However, determining FRD in multiplexed fibre systems has become a challenging and time-consuming task. The Integral Field Unit for the Fiber Arrayed Solar Optical Telescope (FASOT-IFU) represents the most densely arranged fibre-based IFU in a single unit. Due to the close packing of fibres in the V-groove of the slit end, measuring FRD is particularly challenging as the output spots are prone to overlapping with adjacent fibres. In this paper, a novel method based on the quasi-near field model is proposed to enable rapid FRD measurement in highly multiplexed fibre systems like IFUs and multi-object observation systems. The principle and uncertainties associated with the method are investigated. The method's validity is demonstrated by applying it to determine the FRD in FASOT-IFU, with the achieved FRD performance meeting the acceptable requirements of FASOT-IFU, where the output focal ratio primarily falls within the range of 5.0-7.0. The results indicate that the proposed method offers several advantages, including the simultaneous and rapid measurement of FRD in multiple fibres with high accuracy (error smaller than 0.35 in F-ratio). Furthermore, besides FRD, the method exhibits potential for extensive measurements of throughput, scrambling, and spectral analysis.

A Sufficient Condition for the Super-linearization of Polynomial Systems

We provide in this paper a sufficient condition for a polynomial dynamical system $\dot x(t) = f(x(t))$ to be super-linearizable, i.e., to be such that all its trajectories are linear projections of the trajectories of a linear dynamical system. The condition is expressed in terms of the hereby introduced weighted dependency graph $G$, whose nodes $v_i$ correspond to variables $x_i$ and edges $v_iv_j$ have weights $\frac{\partial f_j}{\partial x_i}$. We show that if the product of the edge weights along any cycle in $G$ is a constant, then the system is super-linearizable. The proof is constructive, and we provide an algorithm to obtain super-linearizations and illustrate it on an example.

A universal and improved mutation strategy for iterative wavefront shaping

Recent advances in iterative wavefront shaping (WFS) techniques have made it possible to manipulate the light focusing and transport in scattering media. To improve the optimization performance, various optimization algorithms and improved strategies have been utilized. Here, a novel guided mutation (GM) strategy is proposed to improve optimization efficiency for iterative WFS. For both phase modulation and binary amplitude modulation, considerable improvements in optimization effect and rate have been obtained using multiple GM-enhanced algorithms. Due of its improvements and universality, GM is beneficial for applications ranging from controlling the transmission of light through disordered media to optical manipulation behind them.

Attitude Trajectory Optimization and Momentum Conservation with Control Moment Gyroscopes

In this work, we develop a numerically tractable trajectory optimization problem for rest-to-rest attitude transfers with CMG-driven spacecraft. First, we adapt a specialized dynamical model which avoids many of the numerical challenges (singularities) introduced by common dynamical approximations. To formulate and solve our specialized trajectory optimization problem, we design a locally stabilizing Linear Quadratic (LQ) regulator on the system's configuration manifold then lift it into the ambient state space to produce suitable terminal and running LQ cost functionals. Finally, we examine the performance benefits and drawbacks of solutions to this optimization problem via the PRONTO solver and find significant improvements in maneuver time, terminal state accuracy, and total control effort. This analysis also highlights a critical shortcoming for objective functions which penalize only the norm of the control input rather than electrical power usage.
