Physics at the e+ e- Linear Collider

A comprehensive review of physics at an e+e- Linear Collider in the energy range of sqrt{s}=92 GeV--3 TeV is presented in view of recent and expected LHC results, experiments from low energy as well as astroparticle physics. The report focuses in particular on Higgs boson, Top quark and electroweak precision physics, but also discusses several models of beyond the Standard Model physics such as Supersymmetry, little Higgs models and extra gauge bosons. The connection to cosmology has been analyzed as well.

Invisible Higgs and Scalar Dark Matter

In this proceeding, we show that when we combined WMAP and the most recent results of XENON100, the invisible width of the Higgs to scalar dark matter is negligible(<10%), except in a small region with very light dark matter (< 10 GeV) not yet excluded by XENON100 or around 60 GeV where the ratio can reach 50% to 60%. The new results released by the Higgs searches of ATLAS and CMS set very strong limits on the elastic scattering cross section.

Higgs searches and singlet scalar dark matter: Combined constraints from XENON 100 and the LHC

XENON100 and the LHC are two of the most promising machines to test the physics beyond the Standard Model. In the meantime, indirect hints push us to believe that the dark matter and Higgs boson could be the two next fundamental particles to be discovered. Whereas ATLAS and CMS have just released their new limits on the Higgs searches, XENON100 obtained very recently strong constraints on DM-proton elastic scattering. In this work, we show that when we combined WMAP and the most recent results of XENON100, the invisible width of the Higgs to scalar dark matter is negligible($\lesssim 10%$), except in a small region with very light dark matter ($\lesssim 10$ GeV) not yet excluded by XENON100 or around 60 GeV where the ratio can reach 50% to 60%. The new results released by the Higgs searches of ATLAS and CMS set very strong limits on the elastic scattering cross section, even restricting it to the region $8 \times 10^{-46} \mrm{cm^2} \lesssim σ_{S-p}^{SI}\lesssim 2 \times 10^{-45} \mrm{cm^{2}}$ in the hypothesis $135 \mrm{GeV} \lesssim M_H \lesssim 155 \mrm{GeV}$.

The ZZ' kinetic mixing in the light of the recent direct and indirect dark matter searches

Several constructions, of stringy origins or not, generate abelian gauge extensions of the Standard Model (SM). Even if the particles of the SM are not charged under this extra $U'(1)$, one cannot avoid the presence of a kinetic mixing between $U'(1)$ and the hypercharge $U_Y(1)$. In this work, we constraint drastically this kinetic mixing, taking into account the recent experimental data from accelerator physics, direct detection and indirect detection of dark matter. We show that the region respecting WMAP and experimental constraints is now very narrowed along the pole line where $M_{Z_D}\simeq 2 m_{DM}$, $Z_D$ being the gauge boson associated to the extra $U'(1)$.

The kinetic dark-mixing in the light of CoGENT and XENON100

Several string or GUT constructions motivate the existence of a dark U(1)_D gauge boson which interacts with the Standard Model only through its kinetic mixing. We compute the dark matter abundance in such scenario and the constraints in the light of the recent data from CoGENT, CDMSII and XENON100. We show in particular that a region with relatively light WIMPS, M_{Z_D}< 40 GeV and a kinetic mixing 10^-4 < delta < 10^-3 is not yet excluded by the last experimental data and seems to give promising signals in a near future. We also compute the value of the kinetic mixing needed to explain the DAMA/CoGENT/CRESST excesses and find that for M_{Z_D}< 30 GeV, delta ~ 10^-3 is sufficient to fit with the data.

A clear Dark Matter gamma ray line generated by the Green-Schwarz mechanism

We study the phenomenology of a $U_X(1)$ extension of the Standard Model where the SM particles are not charged under the new abelian group. The Green-Schwarz mechanism insures that the model is anomaly free. The erstwhile invisible dark gauge field $X$, even if produced with difficulty at the LHC has however a clear signature in gamma-ray telescopes. We investigate what BSM scale (which can be interpreted as a low-energy string scale) would be reachable by the FERMI/GLAST telescope after 5 years of running and show that a 2 TeV scale can be testable, which is highly competitive with the LHC.

Antimatter signals of singlet scalar dark matter

We consider the singlet scalar model of dark matter and study the expected antiproton and positron signals from dark matter annihilations. The regions of the viable parameter space of the model that are excluded by present data are determined, as well as those regions that will be probed by the forthcoming experiment AMS-02. In all cases, different propagation models are investigated, and the possible enhancement due to dark matter substructures is analyzed. We find that the antiproton signal is more easily detectable than the positron one over the whole parameter space. For a typical propagation model and without any boost factor, AMS-02 will be able to probe --via antiprotons-- the singlet model of dark matter up to masses of 600 GeV. Antiprotons constitute, therefore, a promising signal to constraint or detect the singlet scalar model.

Dark matter annihilation into gamma-ray line generated by anomalies

We study the phenomenology of a $U_X(1)$ extension of the Standard Model where the SM particles are not charged under the new abelian group. The Green-Schwarz mechanism insures that the model is anomaly free. The erstwhile invisible dark gauge field $X$, even if produced with difficulty at the LHC has however a clear signature in gamma-ray telescopes. We investigate what BSM scale (which can be interpreted as a low-energy string scale) would be reachable by the FERMI/GLAST telescope after 5 years of running and show that a 1 TeV scale can be testable, which is highly competitive with the LHC.

(In)visible Z' and dark matter

We study the consequences of an extension of the standard model containing an invisible extra gauge group under which the SM particles are neutral. We show that effective operators, generated by loops of heavy chiral fermions charged under both gauge groups and connecting the new gauge sector to the Standard Model, can give rise to a viable dark matter candidate. Its annihilations produce clean visible signals through a gamma-ray line. This would be a smoking gun signature of such models observable by actual experiments.

Gravitino dark matter in hybrid gauge-gravity models

We study the phenomenology of generic supergravity models in which gravity mediation naturally competes with gauge mediation as the origin of supergravity-breaking. This class of hybrid models has been recently motivated in string inspired constructions and differs from usual gauge mediated supersymmetry breaking models in having messenger masses of order of the GUT scale. In these scenarios the gravitino can be the lightest supersymmetric particle in wide regions of the parameter space and therefore a potential candidate for dark matter. We investigate this possibility, imposing the WMAP bound on its relic abundance and taking into account constraints from Big Bang nucleosynthesis. We show that in these constructions viable gravitino dark matter can be obtained in specific regions of the parameter space, featuring large values of tan(beta) and where the supersymmetry breaking mechanism is dominated by gauge mediation.

Determining the WIMP mass using the complementarity between direct and indirect searches and the ILC

We study the possibility of identifying dark matter properties from XENON-like 100 kg experiments and the GLAST satellite mission. We show that whereas direct detection experiments will probe efficiently light WIMPs, given a positive detection (at the 10% level for $m_χ \lesssim 50$ GeV), GLAST will be able to confirm and even increase the precision in the case of a NFW profile, for a WIMP-nucleon cross-section $σ_{χ-p} \lesssim 10^{-8}$ pb. We also predict the rate of production of a WIMP in the next generation of colliders (ILC), and compare their sensitivity to the WIMP mass with the XENON and GLAST projects.

Gauge vs. Gravity mediation in models with anomalous U(1)'s

In an attempt to implement gauge mediation in string theory, we study string effective supergravity models of supersymmetry breaking, containing anomalous gauge factors. We discuss subtleties related to gauge invariance and the stabilization of the Green-Schwarz moduli, which set non-trivial constraints on the transmission of supersymmetry breaking to MSSM via gauge interactions. Given those constraints, it is difficult to obtain the dominance of gauge mediation over gravity mediation. Furthermore, generically the gauge contributions to soft terms contain additional non-standard terms coming from D-term contributions. Motivated by this, we study the phenomenology of recently proposed hybrid models, where gravity and gauge mediations compete at the GUT scale, and show that such a scenario can respect WMAP constraints and would be easily testable at LHC.

Moduli stabilization with Fayet-Iliopoulos uplift

In the recent years, phenomenological models of moduli stabilization were proposed, where the dynamics of the stabilization is essentially supersymmetric, whereas an O'Rafearthaigh supersymmetry breaking sector is responsible for the "uplift" of the cosmological constant to zero. We investigate the case where the uplift is provided by a Fayet-Iliopoulos sector. We find that in this case the modulus contribution to supersymmetry breaking is larger than in the previous models. A first consequence of this class of constructions is for gauginos, which are heavier compared to previous models. In some of our explicit examples, due to a non-standard gauge-mediation type negative contribution to scalars masses, the whole superpartner spectrum can be efficiently compressed at low-energy. This provides an original phenomenology testable at the LHC, in particular sleptons are generically heavier than the squarks.

Distinguishing SUSY scenarios using τpolarisation and \tildeχ^0_1 Dark Matter

We discuss first a method of measuring $τ$ polarisation at the ILC using the 1--prong hadronic decays of the $τ$. We then show in this contribution how a study of the $\tilde τ$ sector and particularly use of decay $τ$ polarisation can offer a very good handle for distinguishing between mSUGRA and a SUSY-GUT scenario, both of which can give rise to appropriate Dark Matter.

SUSY-GUTs, SUSY-Seesaw and the Neutralino Dark Matter

We will consider a SUSY-SU(5) with one right-handed neutrino with a large top like Yukawa coupling. Assuming universal soft masses at high scale we compute the low-energy spectrum and subsequently the neutralino LSP relic density taking also into consideration SU(5) as well as the see-saw running effects above the gauge coupling unification scale. We found that there exists no viable region in parameter space for $\tanβ\ler ~35$. The $\tildeτ$ coannihilation process starts becoming efficient for $\tanβ\ger 35-40$. However, this process is significantly constrained by the limited range in which the stau is lighter than the neutralino. In fact, for a given $\tanβ$ we find that there exists an upper bound on the lightest neutralino mass ($M_{χ_1^0}$) in this region. The A-pole funnel region appears at very large $\tanβ\simeq 45-50$, while the focus-point region does not make an appearance till large ($m_0,M_{1/2}$), namely a few TeV. Large $A_0$ terms at high scale can lead to extended regions consistent with WMAP constraints and remove the upper bounds in the stau coannihilation regions.

A comparison between the detection of gamma rays and positrons from neutralino annihilation

We study the indirect detection of neutralino dark matter using positrons and gamma rays from its annihilation in the galactic halo. Considering the HESS data as the spectrum constituting the gamma--ray background, we compare the prospects for the experiments GLAST and PAMELA in a general supergravity framework with non--universal scalar and gaugino masses. We show that with a boost factor of about 10, PAMELA will be competitive with GLAST for typical NFW cuspy profiles.

Moduli stabilization with positive vacuum energy

We study the effect of anomalous U(1) gauge groups in string theory compactification with fluxes. We find that, in a gauge invariant formulation, consistent AdS vacua appear breaking spontaneously supergravity. Non vanishing D-terms from the anomalous symmetry act as an uplifting potential and could allow for de Sitter vacua. However, we show that in this case the gravitino is generically (but not always) much heavier than the electroweak scale. We show that alternative uplifting scheme based on corrections to the Kahler potential can be compatible with a gravitino mass in the TeV range.
