On the Harish-Chandra Homomorphism for Quantum Superalgebras

In this paper, we introduce the Harish-Chandra homomorphism for the quantum superalgebra $\mathrm{U}_q(\mathfrak{g})$ associated with a simple basic Lie superalgebra $\mathfrak{g}$ and give an explicit description of its image. We use it to prove that the center of $\mathrm{U}_q(\mathfrak{g})$ is isomorphic to a subring of the ring $J(\mathfrak{g})$ of exponential super-invariants in the sense of Sergeev and Veselov, establishing a Harish-Chandra type theorem for $\mathrm{U}_q(\mathfrak{g})$. As a byproduct, we obtain a basis of the center of $\mathrm{U}_q(\mathfrak{g})$ with the aid of quasi-R-matrix.

An Efficient Deep Learning Model for Automatic Modulation Recognition Based on Parameter Estimation and Transformation

Automatic modulation recognition (AMR) is a promising technology for intelligent communication receivers to detect signal modulation schemes. Recently, the emerging deep learning (DL) research has facilitated high-performance DL-AMR approaches. However, most DL-AMR models only focus on recognition accuracy, leading to huge model sizes and high computational complexity, while some lightweight and low-complexity models struggle to meet the accuracy requirements. This letter proposes an efficient DL-AMR model based on phase parameter estimation and transformation, with convolutional neural network (CNN) and gated recurrent unit (GRU) as the feature extraction layers, which can achieve high recognition accuracy equivalent to the existing state-of-the-art models but reduces more than a third of the volume of their parameters. Meanwhile, our model is more competitive in training time and test time than the benchmark models with similar recognition accuracy. Moreover, we further propose to compress our model by pruning, which maintains the recognition accuracy higher than 90% while has less than 1/8 of the number of parameters comparing with state-of-the-art models.

4/-hybridization strength in CemMnIn3m+2n heavy-fermion compounds studied by Angle-Resolved Photoemission Spectroscopy

We systemically investigate the nature of Ce 4f electrons in structurally layered heavy-fermion compounds CcmMnIn3m+2n (with M =Co, Rh, Ir, and Pt, m=l, 2, n=0 - 2), at low temperature using on-resonance angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy. Three heavy quasiparticle bands f^0, f^1_7/2 and f^1_5/2 are observed in all compounds, but their intensities and energy locations vary greatly with materials. The strong f^0 states imply that the localized electron behavior dominates the Ce 4f states. The Ce 4f electrons are partially hybridized with the conduction electrons, making them have the dual nature of localization and itinerant. Our quantitative comparison reveals that the f^1_5/2 / f^0 intensity ratio is more suitable to reflect the 4f-state hybridization strength.

Distinct band reconstructions in kagome superconductor CsV$_3$Sb$_5$

The new two-dimensional (2D) kagome superconductor CsV$_3$Sb$_5$ has attracted much recent attention due to the coexistence of superconductivity, charge order, topology and kagome physics. A key issue in this field is to unveil the unique reconstructed electronic structure, which successfully accommodates different orders and interactions to form a fertile ground for emergent phenomena. Here, we report angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES) evidence for two distinct band reconstructions in CsV$_3$Sb$_5$. The first one is characterized by the appearance of new electron energy band at low temperature. The new band is theoretically reproduced when the three dimensionality of the charge order is considered for a band-folding along the out-of-plane direction. The second reconstruction is identified as a surface induced orbital-selective shift of the electron energy band. Our results provide the first evidence for the three dimensionality of the charge order in single-particle spectral function, highlighting the importance of long-range out-of-plane electronic correlations in this layered kagome superconductor. They also point to the feasibility of orbital-selective control of the band structure via surface modification, which would open a new avenue for manipulating exotic phenomena in this system, including superconductivity.

Charge-order-assisted topological surface states and flat bands in the kagome superconductor CsV$_3$Sb$_5$

The diversity of emergent phenomena in quantum materials often arises from the interplay between different physical energy scales or broken symmetries. Cooperative interactions among them are rare; however, when they do occur, they often stabilize fundamentally new ground states or phase behaviors. For instance, a pair density wave can form when the superconducting order parameter borrows spatial periodical variation from charge order; a topological superconductor can arise when topologically nontrivial electronic states proximitize with or participate in the formation of the superconducting condensate. Here, we report spectroscopic evidence for a unique synergy of topology and correlation effects in the kagome superconductor CsV$_3$Sb$_5$ - one where topologically nontrivial surface states are pushed below the Fermi energy (E$_F$) by charge order, making the topological physics active near E$_F$ upon entering the superconducting state. Flat bands are observed, indicating that electron correlation effects are also at play in this system. Our results reveal the peculiar electronic structure of CsV$_3$Sb$_5$, which holds the potential for realizing Majorana zero modes and anomalous superconducting states in kagome lattices. They also establish CsV$_3$Sb$_5$ as a unique platform for exploring the cooperation between the charge order, topology, correlation effects and superconductivity.

Temperature evolution of quasiparticle dispersion dynamics in semimetallic 1T-TiTe2 via high-resolution angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy and ultrafast optical pump-probe spectroscopy

High-resolution angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy and ultrafast optical pump-probe spectroscopy were used to study semimetallic 1T - TiTe2 quasiparticle dispersion and dynamics. A kink and a flat band, having the same energy scale and temperature-dependent behaviors along the G-M direction, were detected. Both manifested at low temperatures but blurred as temperature increased. The kink was formed by an electron-phonon coupling. And the localized flat band might be closely related to an electron-phonon coupling. Ultrafast optical spectroscopy identified multiple distinct time scales in the 10-300 K range. Quantitative analysis of the fastest decay process evidenced a significant lifetime temperature dependence at high temperatures, while this starts to change slowly below ~ 100 K where an anomalous Hall coefficient occurred. At low temperature, a coherent A1g phonon mode with a frequency of ~ 4.36 THz was extracted. Frequency temperature dependence suggests that phonon hardening occurs as temperature falls and anharmonic effects can explain it. Frequency fluence dependence indicates that the phonons soften as fluence increases.

Direct collapse to supermassive black hole seeds: the critical conditions for suppression of $\rm H_2$ cooling

Observations of high-redshift quasars imply the presence of supermassive black holes already at z~ 7.5. An appealing and promising pathway to their formation is the direct collapse scenario of a primordial gas in atomic-cooling haloes at z ~ 10 - 20, when the $\rm H_2$ formation is inhibited by a strong background radiation field, whose intensity exceeds a critical value, $J_{\rm crit}$. To estimate $J_{\rm crit}$, typically, studies have assumed idealized spectra, with a fixed ratio of $\rm H_{2}$ photo-dissociation rate $k_{\rm H_2}$ to the $\rm H^-$ photo-detachment rate $k_{\rm H^-}$. This assumption, however, could be too narrow in scope as the nature of the background radiation field is not known precisely. In this work we argue that the critical condition for suppressing the $\rm H_2$ cooling in the collapsing gas could be described in a more general way by a combination of $k_{\rm H_2}$ and $k_{\rm H^-}$ parameters. By performing a series of cosmological zoom-in simulations with an encompassing set of $k_{\rm H_2}$ and $k_{\rm H^-}$, we examine the gas flow by following evolution of basic parameters of the accretion flow. We test under what conditions the gas evolution is dominated by $\rm H_{2}$ and/or atomic cooling. We confirm the existence of a critical curve in the $k_{\rm H_2}-k_{\rm H^-}$ plane, and provide an analytical fit to it. This curve depends on the conditions in the direct collapse, and reveals domains where the atomic cooling dominates over the molecular cooling. Furthermore, we have considered the effect of $\rm H_{2}$ self-shielding on the critical curve, by adopting three methods for the effective column density approximation in $\rm H_{2}$. We find that the estimate of the characteristic length-scale for shielding can be improved by using $λ_{\rm Jeans25}$, which is 0.25 times that of the local Jeans length.

Angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy study of crystal electric field in heavy fermion compound CePt2In7

The three-dimensional electronic structure and Ce 4f electrons of the heavy fermion superconductor CePt2In7 is investigated. Angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy using variable photon energy establishes the existence of quasi-two and three dimensional Fermi surface topologies. Temperature-dependent 4d-4f on-resonance photoemission spectroscopies reveal that heavy quasiparticle bands begin to form at a temperature well above the characteristic (coherence) temperature T*. T* emergence may be closely related to crystal electric field splitting, particularly the low-lying heavy band formed by crystal electric field splitting.

Crystal electric field splitting and f-electron hybridization in heavy fermion CePt2In7

We use high-resolution angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy to investigate the electronic structure of the antiferromagnetic heavy fermion compound CePt2In7, which is a member of the CeIn3-derived heavy fermion material family. Weak hybridization among 4f electron states and conduction bands was identified in CePt2In7 at low temperature much weaker than that in the other heavy fermion compounds like CeIrIn5 and CeRhIn5. The Ce 4f spectrum shows fine structures near the Fermi energy, reflecting the crystal electric field splitting of the 4f^1_5/2 and 4f^1_7/2 states. Also, we find that the Fermi surface has a strongly three-dimensional topology, in agreement with density-functional theory calculations.

Three Dimensional Convolutional Neural Network Pruning with Regularization-Based Method

Despite enjoying extensive applications in video analysis, three-dimensional convolutional neural networks (3D CNNs)are restricted by their massive computation and storage consumption. To solve this problem, we propose a threedimensional regularization-based neural network pruning method to assign different regularization parameters to different weight groups based on their importance to the network. Further we analyze the redundancy and computation cost for each layer to determine the different pruning ratios. Experiments show that pruning based on our method can lead to 2x theoretical speedup with only 0.41% accuracy loss for 3DResNet18 and 3.28% accuracy loss for C3D. The proposed method performs favorably against other popular methods for model compression and acceleration.

BotGraph: Web Bot Detection Based on Sitemap

The web bots have been blamed for consuming large amount of Internet traffic and undermining the interest of the scraped sites for years. Traditional bot detection studies focus mainly on signature-based solution, but advanced bots usually forge their identities to bypass such detection. With increasing cloud migration, cloud providers provide new opportunities for an effective bot detection based on big data to solve this issue. In this paper, we present a behavior-based bot detection scheme called BotGraph that combines sitemap and convolutional neural network (CNN) to detect inner behavior of bots. Experimental results show that BotGraph achieves ~95% recall and precision on 35-day production data traces from different customers including the Bing search engine and several sites.

PML: An Interpreter-Based Access Control Policy Language for Web Services

Access control is an important component for web services such as a cloud. Current clouds tend to design the access control mechanism together with the policy language on their own. It leads to two issues: (i) a cloud user has to learn different policy languages to use multiple clouds, and (ii) a cloud service provider has to customize an authorization mechanism based on its business requirement, which brings high development cost. In this work, a new access control policy language called PERM modeling language (PML) is proposed to express various access control models such as access control list (ACL), role-based access control (RBAC) and attribute-based access control (ABAC), etc. PML's enforcement mechanism is designed in an interpreter-on-interpreter manner, which not only secures the authorization code with sandboxing, but also extends PML to all programming languages that support Lua. PML is already adopted by real-world projects such as Intel's RMD, VMware's Dispatch, Orange's Gobis and so on, which proves PML's usability. The performance evaluation on OpenStack, CloudStack and Amazon Web Services (AWS) shows PML's enforcement overhead per request is under 5.9us.

Three-Dimensional Fermi-Surface and Electron-Phonon Coupling in Semimetallic 1T-TiTe2 studied by Angle-Resolved Photoemission Spectroscopy

We present an investigation on electronic structure of 1T-TiTe2 material via high-resolution angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES), utilizing tunable photon energy excitations. The typical semimetal-like electronic structure is observed and examined, where multiple hole pockets related to Te 5p bands and one electron pockets related to Ti 3d band are populated. The obtained results reveals i) a pronounced three-dimensional (3D) electronic structure of 1T-TiTe2 with typical semi-metallic features, for both the Ti 3d and the Te 5p states; ii) multiple Fermi surface (FS) sheets and complex band structure; and iii) an obvious kink in dispersion at an energy of about 18 meV below the Fermi energy, the first experimental observation of a kink structure in 1T-TiTe2, which may originate from electron-phonon coupling. These important and significant findings can help us to gain an in-depth understanding of the 3D electronic structure of semimetallic 1T- TiTe2.

Direct Collapse to Supermassive Black Hole Seeds with Radiation Transfer: Cosmological Halos

We have modeled direct collapse of a primordial gas within dark matter halos in the presence of radiative transfer, in high-resolution zoom-in simulations in a cosmological framework, down to the formation of the photosphere and the central object. Radiative transfer has been implemented in the flux-limited diffusion (FLD) approximation. Adiabatic models were run for comparison. We find that (a) the FLD flow forms an irregular central structure and does not exhibit fragmentation, contrary to adiabatic flow which forms a thick disk, driving a pair of spiral shocks, subject to Kelvin-Helmholtz shear instability forming fragments; (b) the growing central core in the FLD flow quickly reaches ~10 Mo and a highly variable luminosity of 10^{38}-10^{39} erg/s, comparable to the Eddington luminosity. It experiences massive recurrent outflows driven by radiation force and thermal pressure gradients, which mix with the accretion flow and transfer the angular momentum outwards; and (c) the interplay between these processes and a massive accretion, results in photosphere at ~10 AU. We conclude that in the FLD model (1) the central object exhibits dynamically insignificant rotation and slower than adiabatic temperature rise with density; (2) does not experience fragmentation leading to star formation, thus promoting the fast track formation of a supermassive black hole (SMBH) seed; (3) inclusion of radiation force leads to outflows, resulting in the mass accumulation within the central 10^{-3} pc, which is ~100 times larger than characteristic scale of star formation. The inclusion of radiative transfer reveals complex early stages of formation and growth of the central structure in the direct collapse scenario of SMBH seed formation.

Direct Collapse to Supermassive Black Hole Seeds with Radiative Transfer: Isolated Halos

Direct collapse within dark matter (DM) halos is a promising path to form supermassive black hole (SMBH) seeds at high redshifts. The outer part of this collapse remains optically thin, and has been studied intensively using numerical simulations. However, the innermost region of the collapse is expected to become optically thick and requires us to follow the radiation field in order to understand its subsequent evolution. So far, the adiabatic approximation has been used exclusively for this purpose. We apply radiative transfer in the flux-limited diffusion (FLD) approximation to solve the evolution of coupled gas and radiation, for isolated halos. For direct collapse within isolated DM halos, we find that (1) the photosphere forms at ~10^{-6} pc and rapidly expands outward. (2) A central core forms, with a mass of ~1 Mo, supported by thermal gas pressure gradients and rotation. (3) Growing thermal gas and radiation pressure gradients dissolve it. (4) This process is associated with a strong anisotropic outflow, and another core forms nearby and grows rapidly. (5) Typical radiation luminosity emerging from the photosphere encompassing these cores is ~5 x 10^{37}-5 x 10^{38} erg/s, of order the Eddington luminosity. (6) Two variability timescales are associated with this process: a long one, which is related to the accretion flow within the central ~10^{-4}-10^{-3} pc, and ~0.1 yr, which is related to radiation diffusion. (7) Adiabatic models have been run for comparison and their evolution differs profoundly from that of the FLD models, by forming a central geometrically-thick disk. Overall, an adiabatic equation of state is not a good approximation to the advanced stage of direct collapse, mainly because the radiation in the FLD is capable of escaping due to anisotropy in the optical depth and associated gradients.

XMM-Newton Survey of Local OVII Absorption Lines in the Spectra of Galactic X-ray Sources

The detection of highly ionized metal absorption lines in the X-ray spectra of the Galactic X-ray binaries (XRBs) implies the distribution of hot gas along the sightline toward the background sources. However, the origin of this hot gas is still unclear: it can arise in the hot interstellar medium (ISM), or is intrinsic to the XRBs. In this paper, we present an XMM-Newton survey of the OVII absorption lines in the spectra of Galactic XRBs. A total of 33 XRBs were selected, with 29 low mass XRBs and 4 high mass XRBs. At more than 3$σ$ threshold, OVII absorption line was detected in 16 targets, among which 4 were newly discovered in this work. The average line equivalent width (EW) is centered around $\sim$ 20 mÅ. Additionally we do not find strong correlations between the OVII EWs and the Galactic neutral absorption N$_{\rm H}$, the Galactic coordinates or the distance of background targets. Such non-correlation may suggest the contamination of the circumstellar material, or the lack of constrains on the line Doppler-b parameter. We also find regardless the direction of the XRBs, the OVII absorption lines were always detected when the flux of the background XRBs reach a certain level, suggesting a uniform distribution of this hot gas. We estimate a ratio of 0.004 --- 0.4 between hot and neutral phase of the interstellar medium. This is the second paper in the series following Fang et al. 2015, in which we focused on the local OVII absorption lines detected in the background AGN spectra. Detailed modeling of the hot ISM distribution will be investigated in a future paper.

Android Multi-Level System Permission Management Approach

With the expansion of the market share occupied by the Android platform, security issues (especially application security) have become attention focus of researchers. In fact, the existing methods lack the capabilities to manage application permissions without root privilege. This study proposes a dynamic management mechanism of Android application permissions based on security policies. The paper first describes the permissions by security policies, then implementes permission checking code and request evaluation algorithm in Android framework layer. Experimental results indicate that the presented approach succeeds in permission management of Android applications, and its system overhead is low, which makes it an effective method for Android permission management.
