Non-stationary difference equation and affine Laumon space III : Generalization to $\widehat{\mathfrak{gl}}_N$

In a series of papers we have considered a non-stationary difference equation which was originally discovered for the deformed Virasoro conformal block. The equation involves mass parameters and, when they are tuned appropriately, the equation is regarded as a quantum KZ equation for $U_q(A_{1}^{(1)})$. We introduce a $\widehat{\mathfrak{gl}}_N$ generalization of the non-stationary difference equation. The Hamiltonian is expressed in terms of $q$-commuting variables and allows both factorized forms and a normal ordered form. By specializing the mass parameters appropriately, the Hamiltonian can be identified with the $R$-matrix of the symmetric tensor representation of $U_q(A_{N-1}^{(1)})$, which in turn comes from the 3D (tetrahedron) $R$-matrix. We conjecture that the affine Laumon partition function of type $A_{N-1}^{(1)}$ gives a solution to our $\widehat{\mathfrak{gl}}_N$ non-stationary difference equation. As a check of our conjecture, we work out the four dimensional limit and find that the non-stationary difference equation reduces to the Fuji-Suzuki-Tsuda system.

Non-Stationary Difference Equation and Affine Laumon Space II: Quantum Knizhnik-Zamolodchikov Equation

We show that Shakirov's non-stationary difference equation, when it is truncated, implies the quantum Knizhnik-Zamolodchikov ($q$-KZ) equation for $U_{\mathsf v}\bigl(A_1^{(1)}\bigr)$ with generic spins. Namely, we can tune mass parameters so that the Hamiltonian acts on the space of finite Laurent polynomials. Then the representation matrix of the Hamiltonian agrees with the $R$-matrix, or the quantum $6j$ symbols. On the other hand, we prove that the $K$ theoretic Nekrasov partition function from the affine Laumon space is identified with the well-studied Jackson integral solution to the $q$-KZ equation. Combining these results, we establish that the affine Laumon partition function gives a solution to Shakirov's equation, which was a conjecture in our previous paper. We also work out the base-fiber duality and four-dimensional limit in relation with the $q$-KZ equation.

Non-Stationary Difference Equation and Affine Laumon Space: Quantization of Discrete Painlevé Equation

We show the relation of the non-stationary difference equation proposed by one of the authors and the quantized discrete Painlevé VI equation. The five-dimensional Seiberg-Witten curve associated with the difference equation has a consistent four-dimensional limit. We also show that the original equation can be factorized as a coupled system for a pair of functions $\bigl(\mathcal{F}^{(1)},\mathcal{F}^{(2)}\bigr)$, which is a consequence of the identification of the Hamiltonian as a translation element in the extended affine Weyl group. We conjecture that the instanton partition function coming from the affine Laumon space provides a solution to the coupled system.

Three $q$-Painlevé equations with affine Weyl group symmetry of type $E_7^{(1)}$

Three $q$-Painlevé type equations are derived through degenerations of the $q$-Painlevé equation with affine Weyl group symmetry of type $q$-$E_8^{(1)}$. The three $q$-Painlevé type equations are associated with different realizations of the same symmetry/surface type $q$-$E_7^{(1)}$/$q$-$A_1^{(1)}$. We give three representations of affine Weyl group actions of type $q$-$E_7^{(1)}$, and relations among them. The three $q$-$E_7^{(1)}$ equations are also derived from the three representations respectively.

Quantum Representation of Affine Weyl Groups and Associated Quantum Curves

We study a quantum (non-commutative) representation of the affine Weyl group mainly of type $E_8^{(1)}$, where the representation is given by birational actions on two variables $x$, $y$ with $q$-commutation relations. Using the tau variables, we also construct quantum "fundamental" polynomials $F(x,y)$ which completely control the Weyl group actions. The geometric properties of the polynomials $F(x,y)$ for the commutative case is lifted distinctively in the quantum case to certain singularity structures as the $q$-difference operators. This property is further utilized as the characterization of the quantum polynomials $F(x,y)$. As an application, the quantum curve associated with topological strings proposed recently by the first named author is rederived by the Weyl group symmetry. The cases of type $D_5^{(1)}$, $E_6^{(1)}$, $E_7^{(1)}$ are also discussed.

The Elliptic Painlevé Lax Equation vs. van Diejen's 8-Coupling Elliptic Hamiltonian

The 8-parameter elliptic Sakai difference Painlevé equation admits a Lax formulation. We show that a suitable specialization of the Lax equation gives rise to the time-independent Schrödinger equation for the $BC_1$ 8-parameter 'relativistic' Calogero-Moser Hamiltonian due to van Diejen. This amounts to a generalization of previous results concerning the Painlevé-Calogero correspondence to the highest level in the two hierarchies.

Quadrirational Yang-Baxter maps and the elliptic Cremona system

This paper connects the quadrirational Yang-Baxter maps, which are two-dimensional integrable discrete systems of KdV type, and the elliptic Cremona system, which is a higher analogue of discrete Painlevé equations associated with $\tilde{E}_8$ symmetry. This is a natural connection between integrable systems in different dimensions that is outside of the usual paradigm of reductions. Our approach is based on formulation of both systems in terms of birational Coxeter groups.

Variations of $q$-Garnier system

We study several variants of q-Garnier system corresponding to various directions of discrete time evolutions. We also investigate a relation between the $q$-Garnier system and Suzuki's higher order $q$-Painlev/'e system by using a duality of the $q$-KP system.

An Elliptic Garnier System from Interpolation

Considering a certain interpolation problem, we derive a series of elliptic difference isomonodromic systems together with their Lax forms. These systems give a multivariate extension of the elliptic Painlevé equation.

Geometric Aspects of Painlevé Equations

In this paper a comprehensive review is given on the current status of achievements in the geometric aspects of the Painlevé equations, with a particular emphasis on the discrete Painlevé equations. The theory is controlled by the geometry of certain rational surfaces called the spaces of initial values, which are characterized by eight point configuration on $\mathbb{P}^1\times\mathbb{P}^1$ and classified according to the degeration of points. We give a systematic description of the equations and their various properties, such as affine Weyl group symmetries, hypergeomtric solutions and Lax pairs under this framework, by using the language of Picard lattice and root systems. We also provide with a collection of basic data; equations, point configurations/root data, Weyl group representations, Lax pairs, and hypergeometric solutions of all possible cases.

Study of $q$-Garnier system by Padé method

We give a simple form of the evolution equation and a scalar Lax pair for the $q$-Garnier system. Some reductions to the $q$-Painlevé equations and the autonomous case as a generalized QRT system are discussed. Using two kinds of Padé problems on differential grid and $q$-grid, we derive some special solutions of the $q$-Garnier system in terms of the $q$-Appell Lauricella function and the generalized $q$-hypergeometric function.

From Polygons to Ultradiscrete Painlevé Equations

The rays of tropical genus one curves are constrained in a way that defines a bounded polygon. When we relax this constraint, the resulting curves do not close, giving rise to a system of spiraling polygons. The piecewise linear transformations that preserve the forms of those rays form tropical rational presentations of groups of affine Weyl type. We present a selection of spiraling polygons with three to eleven sides whose groups of piecewise linear transformations coincide with the Bäcklund transformations and the evolution equations for the ultradiscrete Painlevé equations.

Quadrirational Yang-Baxter maps and the affine-E8 Painleve lattice

We establish that the quadrirational Yang-Baxter maps, considered on their symmetry-complete lattice, give an un-normalized form of the Painleve systems associated with affine-E8 symmetry. This is a unified representation bringing KdV-type and Painleve-type systems together outside of the usual paradigm of reductions. Our approach exploits the geometric characterisation of the Painleve equations and the formulation of both kinds of systems in terms of birational groups.

A Common Structure in PBW Bases of the Nilpotent Subalgebra of $U_q(\mathfrak{g})$ and Quantized Algebra of Functions

For a finite-dimensional simple Lie algebra $\mathfrak{g}$, let $U^+_q(\mathfrak{g})$ be the positive part of the quantized universal enveloping algebra, and $A_q(\mathfrak{g})$ be the quantized algebra of functions. We show that the transition matrix of the PBW bases of $U^+_q(\mathfrak{g})$ coincides with the intertwiner between the irreducible $A_q(\mathfrak{g})$-modules labeled by two different reduced expressions of the longest element of the Weyl group of $\mathfrak{g}$. This generalizes the earlier result by Sergeev on $A_2$ related to the tetrahedron equation and endows a new representation theoretical interpretation with the recent solution to the 3D reflection equation for $C_2$. Our proof is based on a realization of $U^+_q(\mathfrak{g})$ in a quotient ring of $A_q(\mathfrak{g})$.

Symmetries of quantum Lax equations for the Painlevé equations

The Painlevé equations can be written as Hamiltonian systems with affine Weyl group symmetries. A canonical quantization of the Painlevé equations preserving the affine Weyl group symmetries has been studied. While, the Painlevé equations are isomonodromic equations for certain second-order linear differential equations. In this paper, we introduce a canonical quantization of Lax equations for the Painlevé equations and construct symmetries of the quantum Lax equations. We also show that our quantum Lax equations are derived from Virasoro conformal field theory.

Localization with a Surface Operator, Irregular Conformal Blocks and Open Topological String

Following a recent paper by Alday and Tachikawa, we compute the instanton partition function in the presence of the surface operator by the localization formula on the moduli space. For SU(2) theories we find an exact agreement with CFT correlation functions with a degenerate operator insertion, which enables us to work out the decoupling limit of the superconformal theory with four flavors to asymptotically free theories at the level of differential equations for CFT correlation functions (irregular conformal blocks). We also argue that the K theory (or five dimensional) lift of these computations gives open topological string amplitudes on local Hirzebruch surface and its blow ups, which is regarded as a geometric engineering of the surface operator. By computing the amplitudes in both A and B models we collect convincing evidences of the agreement of the instanton partition function with surface operator and the partition function of open topological string.

Generalized energies and integrable D^{(1)}_n cellular automaton

We introduce generalized energies for a class of U_q(D^{(1)}_n) crystals by using the piecewise linear functions that are building blocks of the combinatorial R. They include the conventional energy in the theory of affine crystals as a special case. It is shown that the generalized energies count the particles and anti-particles in a quadrant of the two dimensional lattice generated by time evolutions of an integrable D^{(1)}_n cellular automaton. Explicit formulas are conjectured for some of them in the form of ultradiscrete tau functions.
