A quantum isomonodromy equation and its application to N=2 SU(N) gauge theories

We give an explicit differential equation which is expected to determine the instanton partition function in the presence of the full surface operator in N=2 SU(N) gauge theory. The differential equation arises as a quantization of a certain Hamiltonian system of isomonodromy type discovered by Fuji, Suzuki and Tsuda.

Five-dimensional AGT Relation and the Deformed beta-ensemble

We discuss an analog of the AGT relation in five dimensions. We define a q-deformation of the beta-ensemble which satisfies q-W constraint. We also show a relation with the Nekrasov partition function of 5D SU(N) gauge theory with N_f=2N.

Five-dimensional AGT Conjecture and the Deformed Virasoro Algebra

We study an analog of the AGT relation in five dimensions. We conjecture that the instanton partition function of 5D N=1 pure SU(2) gauge theory coincides with the inner product of the Gaiotto-like state in the deformed Virasoro algebra. In four dimensional case, a relation between the Gaiotto construction and the theory of Braverman and Etingof is also discussed.

Tau functions in combinatorial Bethe ansatz

We introduce ultradiscrete tau functions associated with rigged configurations for A^{(1)}_n. They satisfy an ultradiscrete version of the Hirota bilinear equation and play a role analogous to a corner transfer matrix for the box-ball system. As an application, we establish a piecewise linear formula for the Kerov-Kirillov-Reshetikhin bijection in the combinatorial Bethe ansatz. They also lead to general N-soliton solutions of the box-ball system.

Crystal interpretation of Kerov-Kirillov-Reshetikhin bijection

The Kerov-Kirillov-Reshetikhin (KKR) bijection is the crux in proving fermionic formulas. It is defined by a combinatorial algorithm on rigged configurations and highest paths. We reformulate the KKR bijection as a vertex operator by purely using combinatorial R in crystal base theory. The result is viewed as a nested Bethe ansatz at q=0 as well as the direct and the inverse scattering (Gel'fand-Levitan) map in the associated soliton cellular automaton.

Five-dimensional Supergravity and Hyperbolic Kac-Moody Algebra G2H

Motivated by the recent analysis of the E10 sigma model for the study of M theory, we study a one-dimensional sigma model associated with the hyperbolic Kac-Moody algebra G2H and its link to D=5, N=2 pure supergravity, which closely resembles in many ways D=11 supergravity. The bosonic equations of motion and the Bianchi identity for D=5 pure supergravity match the equations of the level l<=3 truncation of the G2H sigma model up to higher level terms, just as they do for the D=11 case. We also compute low level root and outer multiplicities in the A3 decomposition, and indeed find singlets at l=4k, k=2,3,... corresponding to the scaling of ER^{k+1} terms, although the missing singlet at l =4 remains a puzzle.

Box-ball system with reflecting end

A soliton cellular automaton on a one dimensional semi-infinite lattice with a reflecting end is presented. It extends a box-ball system on an infinite lattice associated with the crystal base of U_q(sl_n). A commuting family of time evolutions are obtained by adapting the K matrices and the double row construction of transfer matrices in solvable lattice models to a crystal setting. Factorized scattering among the left and the right moving solitons and the boundary reflection rule are determined.

Hypergeometric solutions to the q-Painlevé equations

Hypergeometric solutions to seven q-Painlevé equations in Sakai's classification are constructed. Geometry of plane curves is used to reduce the q-Painlevé equations to the three-term recurrence relations for q-hypergeometric functions.

Cubic Pencils and Painlevé Hamiltonians

We present a simple heuristic method to derive the Painlevé differential equations from the corresponding geometry of rational surafces. We also give a direct relationship between the cubic pencils and Seiberg-Witten curves.

Tropical R and Tau Functions

Tropical R is the birational map that intertwines products of geometric crystals and satisfies the Yang-Baxter equation. We show that the D^{(1)}_n tropical R introduced by the authors and its reduction to A^{(2)}_{2n-1} and C^{(1)}_n are equivalent to a system of bilinear difference equations of Hirota type. Associated tropical vertex models admit solutions in terms of tau functions of the BKP and DKP hierarchies.

_10E_9 solution to the elliptic Painlev'e equation

A $τ$ function formalism for Sakai's elliptic Painlev'e equation is presented. This establishes the equivalence between the two formulations by Sakai and by Ohta-Ramani-Grammaticos. We also give a simple geometric description of the elliptic Painlev'e equation as a non-autonomous deformation of the addition formula on elliptic curves. By using these formulations, we construct a particular solution of the elliptic Painlev'e equation expressed in terms of the elliptic hypergeometric function_10E_9.

Tropical Robinson-Schensted-Knuth correspondence and birational Weyl group actions

By using an elementary matrix approach, based on the technique of discrete Toda equation, we construct subtraction-free rational and piecewise linear transformations associated with various combinatorial algorithms, including the RSK correspondence. We also investigate birational Weyl group actions related to those algorithms.

Geometric Crystal and Tropical R for D^(1)_n

We construct a geometric crystal for the affine Lie algebra D^{(1)}_n in the sense of Berenstein and Kazhdan. Based on a matrix realization including a spectral parameter, we prove uniqueness and explicit form of the tropical R, the birational map that intertwines products of the geometric crystals. The tropical R commutes with geometric Kashiwara operators and satisfies the Yang-Baxter equation. It is subtraction-free and yields a piecewise linear formula of the combinatorial R for crystals upon ultradiscretization.

W(E_10) Symmetry, M-Theory and Painleve Equations

The Weyl group symmetry W(E_k) is studied from the points of view of the E-strings, Painleve equations and U-duality. We give a simple reformulation of the elliptic Painleve equation in such a way that the hidden symmetry W(E_10) is manifestly realized. This reformulation is based on the birational geometry of the del Pezzo surface and closely related to Seiberg-Witten curves describing the E-strings. The relation of the W(E_k) symmetry to the duality of M-theory on a torus is discussed on the level of string equations of motion.
