New black-to-white hole solutions with improved geometry and energy conditions

We construct new black-to-white hole solutions which connect the geometry of spacetime at some gluing surface inside the horizon. The continuity of the metric can be guaranteed up to the arbitrary order which is controlled by the power factor $n$. This sort of black-to-white holes is characterized by the sub-Planckian scalar curvature, independent of the mass of black-to-white holes. More importantly, we show that the energy condition is only violated within a small region near the gluing surface. The geodesics of particles within the region from black hole to white hole is also analyzed. It turns out that the matter falling into the black hole may pass through the center without singularity and come out from the white hole. This scenario provides novel ideas for understanding the information loss paradox in traditional black hole physics.

Refined symmetry-resolved Page curve and charged black holes

The Page curve plotted by the typical random state approximation is not applicable to a system with conserved quantities, such as the evaporation process of a charged black hole during which the electric charge does not radiate out with a uniform rate macroscopically. In this context the symmetry-resolved entanglement entropy may play a significant role in describing the entanglement structure of such a system. We attempt to impose constraints on microscopic quantum states to match with the macroscopic phenomenon of the charge radiation during black hole evaporation. Specifically, we consider a simple qubit system with conserved spin/charge serving as a toy model for the evaporation of charged black holes. We propose refined rules for selecting a random state with conserved quantities to simulate the distribution of charges during the different stages of evaporation, and obtain refined Page curves that exhibit distinct features in contrast to the original Page curve. We find the refined Page curve may have a different Page time and exhibit asymmetric behavior on both sides of the Page time. Such refined Page curves may provide more realistic description for the entanglement between the charged black hole and radiation during the process of evaporation.

Entanglement of defect subregions in double holography

In the framework of double holography, we investigate the entanglement behavior of a brane subregion in AdS spacetime coupled to a bath on its boundary and also extract the contribution from the quantum matter within this subregion. From the boundary perspective, the brane subregion serves as the entanglement wedge of a subsystem on the conformal defect. In the ground state, we find the subsystem undergoes an entanglement phase transition induced by the degrees of freedom on the brane. With subcritical parameters, the wedge and entanglement entropy sharply decrease to zero. In contrast, in the supercritical regime, both the wedge and entropy stabilize, enabling analysis of both entanglement and reflected entropy. In this phase, we derive formulas for entanglement measures based on defect and bath central charges in the semi-classical limit. For entanglement entropy, the classical geometry only contributes a subleading term with logarithmic divergence, but the brane-bath CFT entanglement exhibits a dominant linear divergence, even in the semi-classical limit. Regarding reflected entropy within the defect subsystem, classical geometry contributes a leading term with logarithmic divergence, while the quantum matter within the entanglement wedge only contributes a finite term.

Accretion Disk for regular black holes with sub-Planckian curvature

We investigate the accretion disk for a sort of regular black holes which are characterized by sub-Planckian curvature and Minkowskian core. We derive null geodesics outside the horizon of such regular black holes and analyze the feature of the light rays from the accretion disk which can be classified into direct emission, lensed rings, and photon rings. We find that the observed brightness under different emission models is mainly determined by direct emission, while the contribution from the flux of the lensed and photon rings is limited. By comparing with Bardeen black hole with a dS core, it is found that the black hole with a Minkowskian core exhibits distinct astronomical optical features when surrounded by accretion disk, which potentially provides a way to distinguish these two sorts of black holes by astronomical observation.

Learning the black hole metric from holographic conductivity

We construct a neural network to learn the RN-AdS black hole metric based on the data of optical conductivity by holography. The linear perturbative equation for the Maxwell field is rewritten in terms of the optical conductivity such that the neural network is constructed based on the discretization of this differential equation. In contrast to all previous models in AdS/DL (deep learning) duality, the derivative of the metric function appears in the equation of motion and we propose distinct finite difference methods to discretize this function. The notion of the reduced conductivity is also proposed to avoid the divergence of the optical conductivity near the horizon. The dependence of the training outcomes on the location of the cutoff, the temperature as well as the frequency range is investigated in detail. This work provides a concrete example for the reconstruction of the bulk geometry with the given data on the boundary by deep learning.

Regular black holes with sub-Planckian curvature

We construct a sort of regular black holes with a sub-Planckian Kretschmann scalar curvature. The metric of this sort of regular black holes is characterized by an exponentially suppressing gravity potential as well as an asymptotically Minkowski core. In particular, with different choices of the potential form, they can reproduce the metric of Bardeen/Hayward/Frolov black hole at large scales. The heuristical derivation of this sort of black holes is performed based on the generalized uncertainty principle over curved spacetime which includes the effects of tidal force on any object with finite size which is bounded below by the minimal length.

The shadow of regular black holes with asymptotically Minkowski core

We investigate the shadow cast by a sort of new regular black holes which are characterized by an asymptotically Minkowski core and the Sub-Planckian curvature. Firstly, we extend the metric with spherical symmetry to the one of rotating Kerr-like black holes and derive the null geodesics with circular orbit near the horizon of the black hole, and then plot the shadow of black holes with different values of the deviation parameter. It is found that the size of the shadow shrinks with the increase of the deviation parameter, while the shape of the shadow becomes more deformed. In particular, by comparing with the shadow of Bardeen black hole and Hayward black hole with the same values of parameters, we find that in general the shadow of black holes with Minkowski core has a larger deformation than that with de Sitter core, which potentially provides a strategy to distinguish these two sorts of regular black holes with different cores by astronomical observation in future.

Black holes Entangled by Radiation

We construct three models to describe the scenario where two eternal black holes are separated by a flat space, and can eventually be entangled by exchanging radiations. In the doubly holographic setup, we compute the entanglement entropy and the mutual information among the subsystems and obtain the dynamic phase structure of the entanglement. The formation of entanglement between the two black holes is delayed by the space where the radiations must travel through. Finally, if the two black holes exchange sufficient Hawking modes, the final state is characterized by a connected entanglement wedge; otherwise, the final entanglement wedge contains two separated islands. In the former case, the entanglement wedge of the two black holes forms at the time scale of the size of the flat space between them. While in both cases, unitarity of the evolution is preserved. When the sizes of two black holes are not equal, we observe a loss of entanglement between the smaller black hole and the radiation at late times. In the field theory side, we consider two Sachdev-Ye-Kitaev (SYK) clusters coupled to a Majorana chain, which resemble two black holes connected by a radiation region. We numerically compute the same entanglement measures, and obtain similar phase structures as the bulk results. In general, a time delay of the entanglement between the two SYK clusters is found in cases with a long Majorana chain. In particular, when the two SYK clusters are different in size, similar entanglement loss between the smaller SYK cluster and the Majorana chain is observed. Finally, we investigate a chain model composed of EPR clusters with particle exchanges between neighboring clusters, and reproduce the features of entanglement observed in the other models.

The generation rate of quantum gravity induced entanglement with multiple massive particles

We investigate the generation rate of quantum gravity induced entanglement of masses(QGEM) in setup with multiple quantum massive particles, among of which only the gravity interaction due to the Newton potential is taken into account. When the distance between any two adjacent Stern-Gerlach (SG) devices is fixed, we consider all the possible configurations of the setup with the same number of particles. In particular, we systemically analyze the case of particle number n=4 and find that the prism setup with a massive particle at the center is the most efficient setup for the entanglement generation. This result can be extended to a system with multiple particles up to seven, where the entanglement efficiency is also enhanced in comparison with the setup with fewer particles. This work provides the strategy to construct the QGEM setup with the best generation rate of entanglement.

Entanglement wedge cross section inequalities in AdS/BCFT

The entanglement wedge cross section in holographic picture provides a geometrical description of the entanglement for mixed states. In this paper we study the inequalities for the entanglement wedge cross section in AdS/BCFT duality. In the presence of the boundary in conformal field theory (CFT), the dual entanglement wedge cross section exhibits abundant phase structures since the extremal surface may end on the brane. We present a universal treatment which is applicable for all the possible phases such that the inequalities for the entanglement wedge cross section can be proved in an algebraic manner rather than a diagrammatic manner. We show that the entanglement wedge cross section in AdS/BCFT satisfies the same inequalities as in AdS/CFT.

Astrophysical observables for regular black holes with sub-Planckian curvature

We investigate the photon sphere and the extremal stable circular orbit (ESCO) for massive particles over a recently proposed regular black holes with sub-Planckian curvature and Minkowskian core. We derive the effective potential for geodesic orbits and determine the radius of circular photon orbits, with an analysis on the stability of these orbits. We extend our analysis to the background of compact massive object (CMO) without horizon, whose mass is below the lowest bound for the formation of a black hole. For massive particles, the ESCOs become double-valued in CMO phase and we calculate the innermost stable circular orbits (ISCO) and the outermost stable circular orbits (OSCO). By comparing wih Bardeen black hole and Hayward black hole, it is also found that the locations of photon sphere and ESCO in CMO phase with Minkowskian core are evidently different from the ones in CMO phase with dS core, which potentially provides a way to distinguish these two sorts of black holes by astronomical observation.

The implications of gamma-ray photons from LHAASO on Lorentz symmetry

The Large High Altitude Air Shower Observatory (LHAASO) has reported the measurement of photons with high energy up to 1.42 PeV from twelve gamma-ray sources. We are concerned with the implications of LHAASO data on the fate of Lorenz symmetry at such high energy level, thus we consider the interaction of the gamma ray with those photons in cosmic microwave background (CMB), and compute the optical depth, the mean free path as well as the survival probability for photons from all these gamma-ray sources. Employing the threshold value predicted by the standard special relativity, it is found that the lowest survival probability for observed gamma ray photons is about 0.60, which is a fairly high value and implies that abundant photons with energy above the threshold value may reach the Earth without Lorentz symmetry violation. We conclude that it is still far to argue that the Lorentz symmetry would be violated due to the present observations from LHAASO.

Modified regular black holes with time delay and 1-loop quantum correction

We develop the regular black hole solutions recently proposed in arXiv:2109.05974 by incorporating the 1-loop quantum correction to the Newton potential as well as a time delay between an observer at the regular center and that at infinity. We define the maximal time delay between the center and the infinity by scanning the mass of black holes such that the sub-Planckian feature of Kretschmann scalar curvature is preserved during the whole process of evaporation. We also compare the distinct behavior of Kretschmann curvature for black holes with an asymptotically Minkowski core and those with an asymptotically de-Sitter core, including Bardeen and Hayward black holes. We expect that this sort of regular black holes may provide more information about the construction of effective metric for Planck stars.

Reflected Entropy in Double Holography

Recently, the reflected entropy is proposed in holographic approach to describe the entanglement of a bipartite quantum system in a mixed state, which is identified as the area of the reflected minimal surface inside the entanglement wedge. In this paper, we study the reflected entropy in the doubly holographic setup, which contains the degrees of freedom of quantum matter in the bulk. In this context, we propose a notion of quantum entanglement wedge cross-section, which may describe the reflected entropy with higher-order quantum corrections. We numerically compute the reflected entropy in pure AdS background and black hole background in four dimensions, respectively. In general, the reflected entropy contains the contribution from the geometry on the brane and the contribution from the CFT. We compute their proportion for different Newton constants and find that their behaviors are in agreement with the results based on the semi-classical gravity and the correlation of CFT coupled to the bath CFT.

Holographic striped superconductor

We construct a holographic model describing the striped superconductor (SSC), which is characterized by the presence of pair density waves (PDW). We explicitly demonstrate that the SSC phase is implemented as the intertwined phase of charge density waves (CDW) order and uniform superconducting (SC) order. Theinterplay of PDW order, CDW order as well as the uniform SC order in SSC phase is studied. It is found that the PDW order is prominent when both CDW order and uniform SC order are balanced. The critical temperature of CDW becomes higher in the presence of the uniform SC order, but its charge density amplitude is suppressed. On the other hand, the SC order is not sensitive to the presence of CDW order. We also demonstrate that among all the possible solutions, the black hole in SSC phase has the lowest free energy and thus is thermodynamically favored.

Island in Charged Black Holes

We study the information paradox for the eternal black hole with charges on a doubly-holographic model in general dimensions, where the charged black hole on a Planck brane is coupled to the baths on the conformal boundaries. In the case of weak tension, the brane can be treated as a probe such that its backreaction to the bulk is negligible. We analytically calculate the entanglement entropy of the radiation and obtain the Page curve with the presence of an island on the brane. For the near-extremal black holes, the growth rate is linear in the temperature. Taking both Dvali-Gabadadze-Porrati term and nonzero tension into account, we obtain the numerical solution with backreaction in four-dimensional spacetime and find the quantum extremal surface at $t=0$. To guarantee that a Page curve can be obtained in general cases, we propose two strategies to impose enough degrees of freedom on the brane such that the black hole information paradox can be properly described by the doubly-holographic setup.

The instability of $AdS$ black holes with lattices

The Anti-de Sitter (AdS) black hole with lattice structure plays an essential role in the study of the optical conductivity in holographic approach. We investigate the instability of this sort of black holes which may lead to the holographic description of charge density waves. In the presence of homogeneous axion fields, we show that the instability of AdS-Reissner-Nordström(AdS-RN) black hole is always suppressed. However, in the presence of Q-lattices, we find that the unstable region becomes the smallest in the vicinity of the critical region for metal/insulator phase transition. This novel phenomenon is reminiscent of the behavior of the holographic entanglement entropy during quantum phase transition.

Holographic superconductor induced by charge density waves

Understanding the role of charge density wave (CDW) in high-temperature superconductivity is a longstanding challenge in condensed matter physics. We construct a holographic superconductor model in which the $U(1)$ symmetry is spontaneously broken only due to the presence of CDWs, rather than previously known free charges with constant density. Below the critical temperature of superconductivity, CDW phase and superconducting phase coexist, which is also justified by the numerical results of optical conductivity. The competitive and cooperative relations between CDW phase and superconducting phase are observed. This work supports the opinion that the appearance of pseudo-gap in CDW phase promotes the pre-pairing of electrons as well as holes such that the formation of superconductivity benefits from the presence of CDW.
