Generalized derivations of $ω$-Lie algebras

This article explores the structure theory of compatible generalized derivations of finite-dimensional $ω$-Lie algebras over a field $\mathbb{K}$. We prove that any compatible quasiderivation of an $ω$-Lie algebra can be embedded as a compatible derivation into a larger $ω$-Lie algebra, refining the general result established by Leger and Luks in 2000 for finite-dimensional nonassociative algebras. We also provide an approach to explicitly compute (compatible) generalized derivations and quasiderivations for all $3$-dimensional non-Lie complex $ω$-Lie algebras.

Low-energy interband Kondo bound states in orbital-selective Mott phases

Low-energy excitations in correlated electron systems may show intricate behaviors and provide essential insights into the dynamics of quantum states and phase transitions. Here, we study a typical half-filled two-orbital Hubbard model featuring the so-called holon-doublon (HD) low-energy excitations in the orbital-selective Mott phase (OSMP), where the principal form of the low-energy excitations has been considered to be a HD bound state. We employ standard single-site dynamical mean-field theory (DMFT), using NORG as an improved impurity solver to calculate the spectral functions at zero temperature. We show that the HD bound state gives an incomplete or even wrong picture for the low-energy excitations. Instead, the excitations are composed of a Kondo-like state in the wide band and a doublon in the narrow band, termed as inter-band Kondo-like (IBK) bound states. Remarkably, we find that, as the bandwidths of the two bands approach each other, anomalous IBK bound-state excitations appear in the metallic {\em wide} band. Our study provides a new picture for the low-energy excitations in the OSMP.

Spin-orbit coupling effects on orbital-selective correlations in a three-orbital model

In ruthenate materials, non-Fermi liquid (NFL) phases have been observed. We used the natural orbitals renormalization group (NORG) method as an impurity solver for dynamical mean-field theory (DMFT) to study a three-orbital Kanamori-Hubbard model with crystal field splitting, set at a specific filling of 2/3, which serves as a minimal Hamiltonian for the ruthenates. We find that without spin-orbit coupling (SOC), increasing the electron interactions results in an orbital-selective Mott (OSM) state, where the half-filled $d_{xy}$ orbital becomes a Mott insulator (MI) while the three-quarter-filled $d_{xz/yz}$ orbitals form a singular Fermi liquid (SFL). The OSM state is destroyed by the small SOC, which causes the small hybridization between the $d_{xy}$ and $d_{xz/yz}$ orbitals, resulting in both the orbitals exhibiting an NFL behavior. The $d_{xy}$ orbital is close to an MI and the $d_{xz/yz}$ orbitals are close to an SFL state. They exhibit distinct electronic scattering rates.

A General Pseudonymization Framework for Cloud-Based LLMs: Replacing Privacy Information in Controlled Text Generation

An increasing number of companies have begun providing services that leverage cloud-based large language models (LLMs), such as ChatGPT. However, this development raises substantial privacy concerns, as users' prompts are transmitted to and processed by the model providers. Among the various privacy protection methods for LLMs, those implemented during the pre-training and fine-tuning phrases fail to mitigate the privacy risks associated with the remote use of cloud-based LLMs by users. On the other hand, methods applied during the inference phrase are primarily effective in scenarios where the LLM's inference does not rely on privacy-sensitive information. In this paper, we outline the process of remote user interaction with LLMs and, for the first time, propose a detailed definition of a general pseudonymization framework applicable to cloud-based LLMs. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed framework strikes an optimal balance between privacy protection and utility. The code for our method is available to the public at https://github.com/Mebymeby/Pseudonymization-Framework.

AI-Empowered Catalyst Discovery: A Survey from Classical Machine Learning Approaches to Large Language Models

Catalysts are essential for accelerating chemical reactions and enhancing selectivity, which is crucial for the sustainable production of energy, materials, and bioactive compounds. Catalyst discovery is fundamental yet challenging in computational chemistry and has garnered significant attention due to the promising performance of advanced Artificial Intelligence (AI) techniques. The development of Large Language Models (LLMs) notably accelerates progress in the discovery of both homogeneous and heterogeneous catalysts, where their chemical reactions differ significantly in material phases, temperature, dynamics, etc. However, there is currently no comprehensive survey that discusses the progress and latest developments in both areas, particularly with the application of LLM techniques. To address this gap, this paper presents a thorough and systematic survey of AI-empowered catalyst discovery, employing a unified and general categorization for homogeneous and heterogeneous catalysts. We examine the progress of AI-empowered catalyst discovery, highlighting their individual advantages and disadvantages, and discuss the challenges faced in this field. Furthermore, we suggest potential directions for future research from the perspective of computer science. Our goal is to assist researchers in computational chemistry, computer science, and related fields in easily tracking the latest advancements, providing a clear overview and roadmap of this area. We also organize and make accessible relevant resources, including article lists and datasets, in an open repository at https://github.com/LuckyGirl-XU/Awesome-Artificial-Intelligence-Empowered-Catalyst-Discovery.

DAT: Dialogue-Aware Transformer with Modality-Group Fusion for Human Engagement Estimation

Engagement estimation plays a crucial role in understanding human social behaviors, attracting increasing research interests in fields such as affective computing and human-computer interaction. In this paper, we propose a Dialogue-Aware Transformer framework (DAT) with Modality-Group Fusion (MGF), which relies solely on audio-visual input and is language-independent, for estimating human engagement in conversations. Specifically, our method employs a modality-group fusion strategy that independently fuses audio and visual features within each modality for each person before inferring the entire audio-visual content. This strategy significantly enhances the model's performance and robustness. Additionally, to better estimate the target participant's engagement levels, the introduced Dialogue-Aware Transformer considers both the participant's behavior and cues from their conversational partners. Our method was rigorously tested in the Multi-Domain Engagement Estimation Challenge held by MultiMediate'24, demonstrating notable improvements in engagement-level regression precision over the baseline model. Notably, our approach achieves a CCC score of 0.76 on the NoXi Base test set and an average CCC of 0.64 across the NoXi Base, NoXi-Add, and MPIIGI test sets.

Multi-intent Aware Contrastive Learning for Sequential Recommendation

Intent is a significant latent factor influencing user-item interaction sequences. Prevalent sequence recommendation models that utilize contrastive learning predominantly rely on single-intent representations to direct the training process. However, this paradigm oversimplifies real-world recommendation scenarios, attempting to encapsulate the diversity of intents within the single-intent level representation. SR models considering multi-intent information in their framework are more likely to reflect real-life recommendation scenarios accurately.

From Static to Dynamic: Adapting Landmark-Aware Image Models for Facial Expression Recognition in Videos

Dynamic facial expression recognition (DFER) in the wild is still hindered by data limitations, e.g., insufficient quantity and diversity of pose, occlusion and illumination, as well as the inherent ambiguity of facial expressions. In contrast, static facial expression recognition (SFER) currently shows much higher performance and can benefit from more abundant high-quality training data. Moreover, the appearance features and dynamic dependencies of DFER remain largely unexplored. To tackle these challenges, we introduce a novel Static-to-Dynamic model (S2D) that leverages existing SFER knowledge and dynamic information implicitly encoded in extracted facial landmark-aware features, thereby significantly improving DFER performance. Firstly, we build and train an image model for SFER, which incorporates a standard Vision Transformer (ViT) and Multi-View Complementary Prompters (MCPs) only. Then, we obtain our video model (i.e., S2D), for DFER, by inserting Temporal-Modeling Adapters (TMAs) into the image model. MCPs enhance facial expression features with landmark-aware features inferred by an off-the-shelf facial landmark detector. And the TMAs capture and model the relationships of dynamic changes in facial expressions, effectively extending the pre-trained image model for videos. Notably, MCPs and TMAs only increase a fraction of trainable parameters (less than +10\%) to the original image model. Moreover, we present a novel Emotion-Anchors (i.e., reference samples for each emotion category) based Self-Distillation Loss to reduce the detrimental influence of ambiguous emotion labels, further enhancing our S2D. Experiments conducted on popular SFER and DFER datasets show that we achieve the state of the art.

Multimodal Multi-turn Conversation Stance Detection: A Challenge Dataset and Effective Model

Stance detection, which aims to identify public opinion towards specific targets using social media data, is an important yet challenging task. With the proliferation of diverse multimodal social media content including text, and images multimodal stance detection (MSD) has become a crucial research area. However, existing MSD studies have focused on modeling stance within individual text-image pairs, overlooking the multi-party conversational contexts that naturally occur on social media. This limitation stems from a lack of datasets that authentically capture such conversational scenarios, hindering progress in conversational MSD. To address this, we introduce a new multimodal multi-turn conversational stance detection dataset (called MmMtCSD). To derive stances from this challenging dataset, we propose a novel multimodal large language model stance detection framework (MLLM-SD), that learns joint stance representations from textual and visual modalities. Experiments on MmMtCSD show state-of-the-art performance of our proposed MLLM-SD approach for multimodal stance detection. We believe that MmMtCSD will contribute to advancing real-world applications of stance detection research.

Shape enumerators of self-dual NRT codes over finite fields

We use invariant theory of finite groups to study shape enumerators of self-dual linear codes in a finite NRT metric space. We provide a new approach that avoids applying Molien's formula to compute all possible shape enumerators. We also explicitly compute the shape enumerators of some low-dimensional self-dual NRT codes over an arbitrary finite field.

Non-Fermi liquid and antiferromagnetic correlations with hole doping in the bilayer two-orbital Hubbard model of La$_3$Ni$_2$O$_7$ at zero temperature

High-$T_c$ superconductivity (SC) was recently found in the bilayer material La$_3$Ni$_2$O$_7$ (La327) under high pressures. We study the bilayer two-orbital Hubbard model derived from the band structure of the La327. The model is solved by cluster dynamical mean-field theory (CDMFT) with natural orbitals renormalization group (NORG) as impurity solver at zero temperature, considering only normal states. With hole doping, we have observed sequentially the Mott insulator (Mott), pseudogap (PG), non-Fermi liquid (NFL), and Fermi liquid (FL) phases, with quantum correlations decreasing. The ground state of the La327 is in the NFL phase with Hund spin correlation, which transmits the Ni-$3d_{z^2}$ ($z$) orbital inter-layer AFM correlation to the Ni-$3d_{x^2-y^2}$ orbitals. When the $σ$-bonding state of the $z$ orbitals ($z+$) is no longer fully filled, the inter-layer antiferromagnetic (AFM) correlations weaken rapidly. At low pressures, the fully filled $z+$ band supports a strong inter-layer AFM correlations, potentially favoring short-range spin density wave (SDW) and suppressing SC. Hole doping at low pressures may achieve a similar effect to high pressures, under which the $z+$ band intersects with the Fermi level, and consequently the spin correlations weaken remarkably, potentially suppressing the possible short-range SDW and favoring SC.

Some Lie algebra structures on symmetric powers

Let $k$ be a field of any characteristic, $V$ a finite-dimensional vector space over $k$, and $S^d(V^*)$ be the $d$-th symmetric power of the dual space $V^*$. Given a linear map $φ$ on $V$ and an eigenvector $w$ of $φ$, we prove that the pair $(φ, w)$ can be used to construct a new Lie algebra structure on $S^d(V^*)$. We prove that this Lie algebra structure is solvable, and in particular, it is nilpotent if $φ$ is a nilpotent map. We also classify the Lie algebras for all possible pairs $(φ, w)$, when $k=\mathbb{C}$ and $V$ is two-dimensional.

A consistent and conservative diffuse-domain lattice Boltzmann method for multiphase flows in complex geometries

Modeling and simulation of multiphase flows in complex geomerties are challenging due to the complexity in describing the interface topology changes among different phases and the difficulty in implementing the boundary conditions on the irregular solid surface. In this work, we first developed a diffuse-domain (DD) based phase-field model for multiphase flows in complex geometries. In this model, the irregular fluid region is embedded into a larger and regular domain by introducing a smooth characteristic function. Then, the reduction-consistent and conservative phase-field equation for the multiphase field and the consistent and conservative Navier-Stokes equations for the flow field are reformulated as the diffuse-domain based consistent and conservative (DD-CC) equations where some additional source terms are added to reflect the effects of boundary conditions. In this case, there is no need to directly treat the complex boundary conditions on the irregular solid surface, and additionally, based on a matched asymptotic analysis, it is also shown that the DD-CC equations can converge to the original governing equations as the interface width parameter tends to zero. Furthermore, to solve the DD-CC equations, we proposed a novel and simple lattice Boltzmann (LB) method with a Hermite-moment-based collision matrix which can not only keep consistent and conservation properties, but also improve the numerical stability with a flexible parameter. With the help of the direct Taylor expansion, the macroscopic DD-CC equations can be recovered correctly from the present LB method. Finally, to test the capacity of LB method, several benchmarks and complex problems are considered, and the numerical results show that the present LB method is accurate and efficient for the multiphase flows in complex geomerties.

Correlation Effects and Concomitant Two-Orbital $s_\pm$-Wave Superconductivity in La$_3$Ni$_2$O$_7$ under High Pressure

Possible high-$T_c$ superconductivity (SC) has been found experimentally in the bilayer material La$_3$Ni$_2$O$_7$ under high pressure recently, in which the Ni-$3d_{3z^2-r^2}$ and $3d_{x^2-y^2}$ orbitals are expected to play a key role in the electronic structure and the SC. Here we study the two-orbital electron correlations and the nature of the SC using the bilayer two-orbital Hubbard model downfolded from the band structure of La3Ni2O7 in the framework of the dynamical mean-field theory. We find that each of the two orbitals forms $s_\pm$-wave SC pairing. Because of the nonlocal inter-orbital hoppings, the two-orbital SCs are concomitant and they transition to Mott insulating states simultaneously when tuning the system to half filling. The Hund's coupling induced local inter-orbital spin coupling enhances the electron correlations pronouncedly and is crucial to the SC.

Self-assembled Frameworks Solid with Turbostratic Stacked Crystalline Layers -- A Frustrated 3D Crystal Lattice

Solid materials possess both long-range order and some degree of disorder are critical for understanding the nature of crystal and glassy state, but how to controllable introduce specific type of disorder into a crystalline material is a big challenge. Our previous work indicated that weakening the inter-layer interaction is an effective strategy to import disorders between the layers. Here, we illustrated that the inter-layer interaction can be weakened to around 1/60 of that of graphite in the self-assembled material, a two-dimensions frameworks formed by B-C-T-A with Cu nodes, which has an obvious layered-structure.

Multimodal Feature Extraction and Fusion for Emotional Reaction Intensity Estimation and Expression Classification in Videos with Transformers

In this paper, we present our advanced solutions to the two sub-challenges of Affective Behavior Analysis in the wild (ABAW) 2023: the Emotional Reaction Intensity (ERI) Estimation Challenge and Expression (Expr) Classification Challenge. ABAW 2023 aims to tackle the challenge of affective behavior analysis in natural contexts, with the ultimate goal of creating intelligent machines and robots that possess the ability to comprehend human emotions, feelings, and behaviors. For the Expression Classification Challenge, we propose a streamlined approach that handles the challenges of classification effectively. However, our main contribution lies in our use of diverse models and tools to extract multimodal features such as audio and video cues from the Hume-Reaction dataset. By studying, analyzing, and combining these features, we significantly enhance the model's accuracy for sentiment prediction in a multimodal context. Furthermore, our method achieves outstanding results on the Emotional Reaction Intensity (ERI) Estimation Challenge, surpassing the baseline method by an impressive 84\% increase, as measured by the Pearson Coefficient, on the validation dataset.

Solving multiorbital dynamical mean-field theory using natural orbitals renormalization group

The natural orbitals renormalization group (NORG) has previously been proposed as an efficient numerical method for solving zero-temperature properties of multisite and multiorbital quantum impurity systems. Here, we implement the NORG as an impurity solver for dynamical mean-field theory (DMFT). In comparison with the exact diagonalization method, the NORG method can treat much more bath sites in an impurity model to which the DMFT maps a lattice model and can find accurate zero-temperature Matsubara and low-frequency retarded Green's functions. We demonstrate the effectiveness of this method on a two-orbital Hubbard model on the Bethe lattice and find successfully the orbital selective Mott transition with a Kondo resonance peak in the wide band and two holon-doublon bound state excitation peaks in the narrow band.

Strong-Coupling Superconductivity with $T_c$ $\sim$ 10.8 K Induced by P Doping in the Topological Semimetal Mo$_5$Si$_3$

By performing P doping on the Si sites in the topological semimetal Mo$_5$Si$_3$, we discover strong-coupling superconductivity in Mo$_5$Si$_{3-x}$P$_x$ (0.5 $\le$ $x$ $\le$ 2.0). Mo$_5$Si$_3$ crystallizes in the W$_5$Si$_3$-type structure with space group of $I4/mcm$ (No. 140), and is not a superconductor itself. Upon P doping, the lattice parameter $a$ decreases while $c$ increases monotonously. Bulk superconductivity is revealed in Mo$_5$Si$_{3-x}$P$_x$ (0.5 $\le$ $x$ $\le$ 2.0) from resistivity, magnetization, and heat capacity measurements. $T_c$ in Mo$_5$Si$_{1.5}$P$_{1.5}$ reaches as high as 10.8 K, setting a new record among the W$_5$Si$_3$-type superconductors. The upper and lower critical fields for Mo$_5$Si$_{1.5}$P$_{1.5}$ are 14.56 T and 105 mT, respectively. Moreover, Mo$_5$Si$_{1.5}$P$_{1.5}$ is found to be a fully gapped superconductor with strong electron-phonon coupling. First-principles calculations suggest that the enhancement of electron-phonon coupling is possibly due to the shift of the Fermi level, which is induced by electron doping. The calculations also reveal the nontrivial band topology in Mo$_5$Si$_3$. The $T_c$ and upper critical field in Mo$_5$Si$_{3-x}$P$_x$ are fairly high among pseudobinary compounds. Both of them are higher than those in NbTi, making future applications promising. Our results suggest that the W$_5$Si$_3$-type compounds are ideal platforms to search for new superconductors. By examinations of their band topologies, more candidates for topological superconductors can be expected in this structural family.
