3d Ising Field Theory with Magnetic Deformation: Fuzzy Sphere Meets TCSA

We study the magnetic deformation of the $(2+1)$d Ising CFT, also known as Ising Field Theory (IFT), on a spatial sphere. We use the Fuzzy Sphere (FS) Ising setup and compare it to the Truncated Conformal Space Approach (TCSA). Universal, infinite volume, IFT quantities are extracted by modeling the effects of curvature, as expected from a local effective theory on the sphere. We find evidence that IFT contains a bound-state with a small binding energy. Locality also allows us to extract the same IFT quantities from different angular momentum sectors, providing additional consistency checks.

The EEC-Hedron: Positivity Bounds on Energy Correlators

We study the constraints placed by energy positivity on general unitary quantum field theories. We show that the coefficients in the partial wave expansion of energy-energy correlators all must lie within a bounded region of parameter space, which we call the ``EEC-hedron''. For the particular case of conformal field theories, these positivity constraints on energy correlators lead to bounds on the allowed values of coefficients in the operator product expansion. We demonstrate this approach in the 3d Ising and $O(2)$ CFTs, deriving new bounds on OPE coefficients in both theories.

SafeReview: Defending LLM-based Review Systems Against Adversarial Hidden Prompts

As Large Language Models (LLMs) are increasingly integrated into academic peer review, their vulnerability to adversarial hidden prompts, i.e., adversarial instructions embedded in submissions to manipulate outcomes, poses a critical threat to scholarly integrity. We propose SafeReview, a co-evolutionary adversarial training framework for defending LLM-based peer review systems against such attacks. SafeReview jointly trains a Generator model to create sophisticated attack prompts and a Defender model to preserve review integrity under adversarial manipulation. The Generator is optimized to produce increasingly effective prompt injections, while the Defender is strengthened through preference-based training to maintain consistent reviews between clean and attacked submissions. Experimental results show that SafeReview improves robustness against adaptive prompt injection attacks, better preserves paper ranking under attack, and generalizes across attacker architectures compared with static defenses. These results demonstrate the potential of co-evolutionary training as a foundation for securing LLM-assisted peer review.

Bootstrapping Open Quantum Many-body Systems with Absorbing Phase Transitions

We demonstrate that combining the positivity of density matrices with steady-state conditions yields a systematic bootstrap method for studying open quantum many-body systems governed by Lindblad master equations on infinite lattices, which exhibit absorbing phase transitions. As a concrete example, we apply this method to the quantum contact process with an absorbing state. We obtain bootstrap bounds on steady-state expectation values, the critical coupling, certain ratios of expectation values in the nontrivial steady state in the supercritical phase, and the Liouvillian spectral gap in the subcritical phase.

Jailbreaking Attacks vs. Content Safety Filters: How Far Are We in the LLM Safety Arms Race?

As large language models (LLMs) are increasingly deployed, ensuring their safe use is paramount. Jailbreaking, adversarial prompts that bypass model alignment to trigger harmful outputs, present significant risks, with existing studies reporting high success rates in evading common LLMs. However, previous evaluations have focused solely on the models, neglecting the full deployment pipeline, which typically incorporates additional safety mechanisms like content moderation filters. To address this gap, we present the first systematic evaluation of jailbreak attacks targeting LLM safety alignment, assessing their success across the full inference pipeline, including both input and output filtering stages. Our findings yield two key insights: first, nearly all evaluated jailbreak techniques can be detected by at least one safety filter, suggesting that prior assessments may have overestimated the practical success of these attacks; second, while safety filters are effective in detection, there remains room to better balance recall and precision to further optimize protection and user experience. We highlight critical gaps and call for further refinement of detection accuracy and usability in LLM safety systems.

Energy Correlator Conformal Blocks and Positivity

Correlation functions of energy flow operators (energy-energy correlators) are one of the simplest observables in quantum field theory and gravity, with diverse applications ranging from real world collider physics to constraining the space of consistent theories. In this paper we further develop the conformal block decomposition of energy-energy correlators in conformal field theories (CFTs), focusing on the source-detector operator product expansion (OPE). We compute the general conformal blocks in this channel for traceless symmetric operators of arbitrary spin in the background of a scalar source, considering both parity-even and parity-odd contributions. Motivated by the availability of data from the conformal bootstrap, we analyze the convergence of this source-detector OPE, taking a tensor product of two decoupled CFTs as an elementary example. Finally, we use positivity of energy correlators to derive novel bounds on OPE coefficients involving the stress-energy tensor in generic CFTs, and demonstrate the application of these bounds in the specific example of the 3d Ising CFT, obtaining new constraints for both parity-even and parity-odd operators.

Yang-Lee Quantum Criticality in Various Dimensions

The Yang-Lee universality class arises when imaginary magnetic field is tuned to its critical value in the paramagnetic phase of the $d<6$ Ising model. In $d=2$, this non-unitary Conformal Field Theory (CFT) is exactly solvable via the $M(2,5)$ minimal model. As found long ago by von Gehlen using Exact Diagonalization, the corresponding real-time, quantum critical behavior arises in the periodic Ising spin chain when the imaginary longitudinal magnetic field is tuned to its critical value from below. Even though the Hamiltonian is not Hermitian, the energy levels are real due to the $PT$ symmetry. In this paper, we explore the analogous quantum critical behavior in higher dimensional non-Hermitian Hamiltonians on regularized spheres $S^{d-1}$. For $d=3$, we use the recently invented, powerful fuzzy sphere method, as well as discretization by the platonic solids cube, icosahedron and dodecaherdron. The low-lying energy levels and structure constants we find are in agreement with expectations from the conformal symmetry. The energy levels are in good quantitative agreement with the high-temperature expansions and with Pad\'{e} extrapolations of the $6-\epsilon$ expansions in Fisher's $i\phi^3$ Euclidean field theory for the Yang-Lee criticality. In the course of this work, we clarify some aspects of matching between operators in this field theory and quasiprimary fields in the $M(2,5)$ minimal model. For $d=4$, we obtain new results by replacing the $S^3$ with the self-dual polytope called the $24$-cell.

Toolkit for General 2d Scalar Potential in LCT

We present efficient algorithms for obtaining the Hamiltonian in Lightcone Conformal Truncation (LCT) for a 2d scalar field with a generic potential. We apply this method to the sine-Gordon and sinh-Gordon models in $1+1d$, and find precise agreement with integrability results when the scaling dimension $\Delta$ of the deforming cosine/cosinh potential is in the range $ \Delta \leq 1$. The agreement provides additional evidence for a recent conjecture for how to compute the effective lightcone Hamiltonian in this class of models. In addition, to high precision, we provide the first direct confirmation for the conjectured self-duality of the sinh-Gordon model ($\Delta < 0)$, which relates $\Delta \leftrightarrow 4/\Delta$. As the dimension approaches the upper limit $\Delta=1$ from below, we show analytically that the Hamiltonian matrix elements exactly reproduce those of a free Majorana fermion, demonstrating how bosonization is manifested in the LCT basis. We comment on the possible extension of the approach to $\Delta > 1$.

Coarse-grained Bootstrap of Quantum Many-body Systems

We present a new computational framework combining coarse-graining techniques with bootstrap methods to study quantum many-body systems. The method efficiently computes rigorous upper and lower bounds on both zero- and finite-temperature expectation values of any local observables of infinite quantum spin chains. This is achieved by using tensor networks to coarse-grain bootstrap constraints, including positivity, translation invariance, equations of motion, and energy-entropy balance inequalities. Coarse-graining allows access to constraints from significantly larger subsystems than previously possible, yielding tighter bounds compared to those obtained without coarse-graining.

Precision study of the massive Schwinger model near quantum criticality

We perform a numerical analysis of the massive Schwinger model in the presence of a background electric field. Using the Density Matrix Renormalization Group (DMRG) approach, we efficiently compute the spectrum of the Schwinger model on a staggered lattice with up to 3000 qubits. As a result, we achieve a precise computation of the critical mass of the massive Schwinger model to five digits using four different 'criticality criteria', observing perfect agreement among them. Additionally, we discuss the effect of a four-fermion operator deformation of the Schwinger model and compute the critical mass for various values of the deformation parameter.

Inside the Black Box: Detecting Data Leakage in Pre-trained Language Encoders

Despite being prevalent in the general field of Natural Language Processing (NLP), pre-trained language models inherently carry privacy and copyright concerns due to their nature of training on large-scale web-scraped data. In this paper, we pioneer a systematic exploration of such risks associated with pre-trained language encoders, specifically focusing on the membership leakage of pre-training data exposed through downstream models adapted from pre-trained language encoders-an aspect largely overlooked in existing literature. Our study encompasses comprehensive experiments across four types of pre-trained encoder architectures, three representative downstream tasks, and five benchmark datasets. Intriguingly, our evaluations reveal, for the first time, the existence of membership leakage even when only the black-box output of the downstream model is exposed, highlighting a privacy risk far greater than previously assumed. Alongside, we present in-depth analysis and insights toward guiding future researchers and practitioners in addressing the privacy considerations in developing pre-trained language models.

Lightcone Hamiltonian for Ising Field Theory I: T < T_c

We study 2d Ising Field Theory (IFT) in the low-temperature phase in lightcone quantization, and show that integrating out zero modes generates a very compact form for the effective lightcone interaction that depends on the finite volume vacuum expectation value of the $\sigma$ operator. This form is most naturally understood in a conformal basis for the lightcone Hilbert space. We further verify that this simple form reproduces to high accuracy results for the spectra, the $c$-function, and the form-factors from integrability methods for the magnetic deformation of IFT. For generic non-integrable values of parameters we also compute the above observables and compare our numeric results to those of equal-time truncation. In particular, we report on new measurements of various bound-state form-factors as well as the stress-tensor spectral density. We find that the stress tensor spectral density provides additional evidence that certain resonances of IFT are surprisingly narrow, even at generic strong coupling. Explicit example code for constructing the effective Hamiltonian is included in an appendix.

Provably Cost-Sensitive Adversarial Defense via Randomized Smoothing

As ML models are increasingly deployed in critical applications, robustness against adversarial perturbations is crucial. While numerous defenses have been proposed to counter such attacks, they typically assume that all adversarial transformations are equally important, an assumption that rarely aligns with real-world applications. To address this, we study the problem of robust learning against adversarial perturbations under cost-sensitive scenarios, where the potential harm of different types of misclassifications is encoded in a cost matrix. Our solution introduces a provably robust learning algorithm to certify and optimize for cost-sensitive robustness, building on the scalable certification framework of randomized smoothing. Specifically, we formalize the definition of cost-sensitive certified radius and propose our novel adaptation of the standard certification algorithm to generate tight robustness certificates tailored to any cost matrix. In addition, we design a robust training method that improves certified cost-sensitive robustness without compromising model accuracy. Extensive experiments on benchmark datasets, including challenging ones unsolvable by existing methods, demonstrate the effectiveness of our certification algorithm and training method across various cost-sensitive scenarios.

Large Momentum EFT and Lightcone Quantization

We develop methods for computing the effective action at infinite momentum for $1+1d$ QFTs at finite volume which do not rely on the theory having a Lagrangian description. We do this by taking the infinite momentum limit of equal-time quantization and integrating out all except for the chiral modes of the theory. Our main application of this method is to the Ising Field Theory (IFT), with an energy and magnetic deformation, where we compute the effective lightcone Hamiltonian numerically and check it against results from TCSA. Remarkably, in the low-temperature phase, the Lorentz invariant effective Hamiltonian at infinite momentum takes a very compact form and depends on the volume only through the finite volume vacuum expectation value of $\langle\sigma\rangle$, the spin operator.

Bootstrapping the gap in quantum spin systems

In this work we report on a new bootstrap method for quantum mechanical problems that closely mirrors the setup from conformal field theory (CFT). We use the equations of motion to develop an analogue of the conformal block expansion for matrix elements and impose crossing symmetry in order to place bounds on their values. The method can be applied to any quantum mechanical system with a local Hamiltonian, and we test it on an anharmonic oscillator model as well as the (1+1)-dimensional transverse field Ising model (TFIM). For the anharmonic oscillator model we show that a small number of crossing equations provides an accurate solution to the spectrum and matrix elements. For the TFIM we show that the Hamiltonian equations of motion, translational invariance and global symmetry selection rules imposes a rigorous bound on the gap and the matrix elements of TFIM in the thermodynamic limit. The bound improves as we consider larger systems of crossing equations, ruling out more finite-volume solutions. Our method provides a way to probe the low energy spectrum of an infinite lattice from the Hamiltonian rigorously and without approximation.

Giving Hamiltonian Truncation a Boost

We study Hamiltonian truncation in boosted frames. We consider the thermal and magnetic field deformations of the 2d Ising model using TCSA at finite momentum. We find that even with moderate momenta, the spectrum and time-dependent correlation functions become significantly less dependent on the volume of the system. This allows for a more reliable determination of infinite volume observables.

Bootstrapping $N_f=4$ conformal QED$_3$

We present the results of a conformal bootstrap study of the presumed unitary IR fixed point of quantum electrodynamics in three dimensions (QED$_3$) coupled to $N_f=4$ two-component Dirac fermions. Specifically, we study the four-point correlators of the $SU(4)$ adjoint fermion bilinear $r$ and the monopole of lowest topological charge $\mathcal{M}_{1/2}$. Most notably, the scaling dimensions of the fermion bilinear $r$ and the monopole $\mathcal{M}_{1/2}$ are found to be constrained into a closed island with a combination of spectrum assumptions inspired by the $1/N_f$ perturbative results as well as a novel interval positivity constraint on the next-lowest-charge monopole $\mathcal{M}_1$. Bounds in this island on the $SU(4)$ and topological $U(1)_t$ conserved current central charges $c_J$, $c_J^t$, as well as on the stress tensor central charge $c_T$, are comfortably consistent with the perturbative results. Together with the scaling dimensions, this suggests that a part of estimates from the $1/N_f$ expansion -- even at $N_f=4$ -- provide a self-consistent solution to the bootstrap crossing relations, despite some of our assumptions not being strictly justified.

Chiral Limit of 2d QCD Revisited with Lightcone Conformal Truncation

We study the chiral limit of 2d QCD with a single quark flavor at finite $N_c$ using LCT. By modifying the LCT basis according to the quark mass in a manner motivated by 't Hooft's analysis, we are able to restore convergence for quark masses much smaller than the QCD strong coupling scale. For such small quark masses, the IR of the theory is expected to be well described by the Sine-Gordon model. We verify that LCT numerics are able to capture in detail the spectrum and correlation functions of the Sine-Gordon model. This opens up the possibility for studying deformations of various integrable CFTs using LCT by considering the chiral limit of QCD like theories.
