A Predictive SUSY SO(10) X Delta (48) X U(1) Model for CP Violation, Neutrino Oscillation, Fermion Masses and Mixings with Very Low tan(beta)

Assuming universality of Yukawa coupling of the superpotential and maximal spontaneous CP violation, fermion masses and mixing angles including that of neutrinos are studied in an SUSY SO(10)$\times Δ(48)\times$ U(1) model with small $\tan β$. The low energy parameters of the standard model are determined solely by the Clebsch factors of the symmetry group and the structure of the physical vacuum. Thirteen parameters involving masses and mixing angles in the quark and charged lepton sector are successfully predicted by only four parameters with three of them determined by the scales of U(1)$\times Δ(48)$, SO(10), SU(5) and SU(2)$_{L}$ symmetry breakings. An interesting prediction on ten parameters concerning the neutrino sector is also made by using the same four parameters. An additional parameter is added to obtain the mass and mixing of a sterile neutrino. It is found that the LSND $\barν_μ \rightarrow \barν_{e}$ events, atmospheric neutrino deficit and the mass limit put by hot dark matter can be naturally explained. Solar neutrino puzzle can be solved only by introducing a sterile neutrino. $(ν_{e} - ν_τ)$ oscillation is found to have the same sensitive region as the $(ν_{e} - ν_μ)$ oscillation. The hadronic parameters $B_{K}$ and $f_{B}\sqrt{B}$ are extracted from the observed $K^{0}$-$\bar{K}^{0}$ and $B^{0}$-$\bar{B}^{0}$ mixings respectively. The direct CP violation ($\varepsilon'/\varepsilon$) in kaon decays and the three angles $α$, $β$ and $γ$ of the unitarity triangle in the CKM matrix are also presented. More precise measurements of $α_{s}(M_{Z})$, $|V_{cb}|$, $|V_{ub}/V_{cb}|$, $m_{t}$, as well as various CP violation and neutrino oscillation experiments will provide crucial tests for the present model.

A Predictive Superunification $SO(10)\times Δ_{48}(SU(3))\times U(1)$ Model for Fermion Masses and Mixings

Based on a few basic assumptions, a predictive supersymmetric grand unification $G_{U}=SO(10)\times Δ_{48}(SU(3))\times U(1)$ model is proposed. Thus, all the observed 45 chiral fermions with additional 3 right-handed neutrinos are unified into an irreducible triplet 16-dimensional spinor representation of $G_{U}$. Electroweak symmetry breaking naturally requires two Higgs doublets which belong to a single 10 representation of $SO(10)$. The model provides an unified description for all the Yukawa and gauge couplings. With a given structure of the physical vacuum, the fermion masses and mixings are predicted in terms of two basic parameters.

CP Violation in the Decay $b\rightarrow sγ$ in the Two-Higgs Doublet Model

In the most general two-Higgs doublet model with an approximate family symmetry and CP violation being originated solely from the relative phase of two vacuum expectation values, CP asymmetry in the decay $b\rightarrow sγ$ may arise from the CP violation of the charged Higgs boson interactions with fermions. This asymmetry may be larger than in the standard model and can lie between $10^{-2}$ and $10^{-1}$. The decay rate of $b\rightarrow sγ$ is allowed to be smaller or larger than in the standard model

Sources of CP Violation in the Two-Higgs Doublet Model

Assuming CP violation arises solely through the Higgs potential, we develop the most general two-Higgs doublet model. There is no discrete symmetry that distinguishes the two Higgs bosons. It is assumed that an approximate global family symmetry sufficiently suppresses flavor-changing neutral scalar interactions. In addition to a CKM phase, neutral boson mixing, and superweak effects, there can be significant CP violation due to charged Higgs boson exchange. The value of $ε'/ε$ due to this last effect could be as large as in the standard model.

A Model for the Origin and Mechanisms of CP Violation

In this talk I will show that the two-Higgs doublet model with vacuum CP violation and approximate global $U(1)$ family symmetries may provide one of the simplest and most attractive models for understanding the origin and mechanisms of CP violation. It is shown that the mechanism of spontaneous symmetry breaking provides not only a mechanism for generating masses of the bosons and fermions, but also a mechanism for creating CP-phases of the bosons and fermions, so that CP violation occurs, after spontaneous symmetry breaking, in all possible ways from a single CP phase of the vacuum and is generally classified into four types of CP-violating mechanism. A new type of CP-violating mechanism in the charged Higgs boson interactions of the fermions is emphasized and can provide a consistent description for both established and reported CP-, P- and T-violating phenomena. Of particular importance is the new source of CP violation for charged Higgs boson interactions that lead to the value of $ε'/ε$ as large as $10^{-3}$ independend of the CKM phase. A Model of CP Violation

It is shown that a two-Higgs doublet model with Vacuum CP Violation and Approximate Global $U(1)$ Family Symmetries (AGUFS) may provide one of the simplest and attractive models in understanding origin and mechanisms of CP violation at the weak scale. The whole new interactions of the model are explicitly presented here. It is seen that CP violation can occur, after spontaneous symmetry breaking, everywhere it can from a single CP-phase in the vacuum. It is also shown that "the mechanism of spontaneous symmetry breaking provides not only a mechanism for giving mass to the bosons and the fermions, but also a mechanism for generating CP-phase of the bosons and the fermions". Four types of CP-violating mechanism are classified. A new type of CP-violating mechanism is emphasized and can provide a consistent application to both the established and the reported CP-violating phenomena. The smallness of the CKM mixing angles and the induced KM-type CP-violating effects as well as the suppression of flavor-changing neutral scalar interactions can be attributed to the AGUFS and Partial Conservation of Neutral Flavor (PCNF). This suggests that if one Higgs doublet is necessary for generation of mass, two Higgs doublets are then needed for origin and phenomenology of CP violation. Various interesting phenomenological features arising from this model are analyzed. Their experimental implications and importance are discussed and emphasized. Directly searching for the exotic Higgs bosons introduced in this model is worthwhile at both $e^{+}e^{-}$ and hadron colliders.

The Origin and Mechanisms of CP Violation In the Two-Higgs Doublet Model and Masses of the Exotic Scalars

I rebuild a conventional two-Higgs doublet model by relaxing the spontaneous CP violation and considering approximate global U(1) family symmetries. So that the domain-wall problem does not explicitly arise at the weak scale, but CP violation still solely originates from a single CP-phase in the vacuum after spontaneous symmetry breaking. With this phase four types of CP-violating mechanism are induced in the model. In particular, by a new type of the mechanism, both the indirect- and direct- CP violation (i.e. $ε$ and $ε'/ε$) in kaon decay and the neutron electric dipole moment can be consistently accommodated. The masses of the exotic scalars are weakly constrained in the model and searching for these particles is worthwhile in the presently accessible energy range. Substantial CP violation may occur in the heavy quark and lepton sectors and probing their effects provides a challenge at B-factory and colliders.

Spontaneous CP Violation and Natural Flavor Conservation In the $SU(2)_{L}\times U(1)_{Y}$ Gauge Theory with Two Higgs Doublets

The two principles of spontaneous CP violation and natural flavor conservation can be realized in the $SU(2)_{L}\times U(1)_{Y}$ model with two Higgs doublets. In particular, this model provides a consistent application to the CP violating parameters $ε$ and $ε'/ε$ in kaon decay and the neutron electric dipole moment. The masses of the exotic scalars are unconstrained in this model and probing these exotic scalars must be valuable at the present energy scales. Large CP violations may also occur in the heavy quark and lepton sectors.
