Exact results for the thermal and magnetic properties of strong coupling ladder compounds

We investigate the thermal and magnetic properties of the integrable su(4) ladder model by means of the quantum transfer matrix method. The magnetic susceptibility, specific heat, magnetic entropy and high field magnetization are evaluated from the free energy derived via the recently proposed method of high temperature expansion for exactly solved models. We show that the integrable model can be used to describe the physics of the strong coupling ladder compounds. Excellent agreement is seen between the theoretical results and the experimental data for the known ladder compounds (5IAP)$_2$CuBr$_4$$\cdot$2H$_2$O, Cu$_{2}$(C$_5$H$_{12}$N$_2$)$_2$Cl$_4$ etc.

Nonlinear integral equations for thermodynamics of the sl(r+1) Uimin-Sutherland model

We derive traditional thermodynamic Bethe ansatz (TBA) equations for the sl(r+1) Uimin-Sutherland model from the T-system of the quantum transfer matrix. These TBA equations are identical to the ones from the string hypothesis. Next we derive a new family of nonlinear integral equations (NLIE). In particular, a subset of these NLIE forms a system of NLIE which contains only a finite number of unknown functions. For r=1, this subset of NLIE reduces to Takahashi's NLIE for the XXX spin chain. A relation between the traditional TBA equations and our new NLIE is clarified. Based on our new NLIE, we also calculate the high temperature expansion of the free energy.

Integral equations for thermodynamics of the osp(1|2s) integrable spin chain

We propose a system of nonlinear integral equations (NLIE), which gives the free energy of the osp(1|2s) integrable spin chain at finite temperatures. In contrast with usual thermodynamic Bethe ansatz equations, our new NLIE contain only a finite number of unknown functions. On deriving NLIE, we use our osp(1|2s) version of the T-system and the quantum transfer matrix method. Based on our NLIE, we also calculate the high temperature expansion of the free energy and the specific heat.

The canonical solutions of the Q-systems and the Kirillov-Reshetikhin conjecture

We study a class of systems of functional equations closely related to various kinds of integrable statistical and quantum mechanical models. We call them the finite and infinite Q-systems according to the number of functions and equations. The finite Q-systems appear as the thermal equilibrium conditions (the Sutherland-Wu equation) for certain statistical mechanical systems. Some infinite Q-systems appear as the relations of the normalized characters of the KR modules of the Yangians and the quantum affine algebras. We give two types of power series formulae for the unique solution (resp. the unique canonical solution) for a finite (resp. infinite) Q-system. As an application, we reformulate the Kirillov-Reshetikhin conjecture on the multiplicities formula of the KR modules in terms of the canonical solutions of Q-systems.

A note on the osp(1|2s) thermodynamic Bethe ansatz equation

A Bethe ansatz equation associated with the Lie superalgebra osp(1|2s) is studied. A thermodynamic Bethe ansatz (TBA) equation is derived by the string hypothesis. The high temperature limit of the entropy density is expressed in terms of the solution of the osp(1|2s) version of the Q-system. In particular for fundamental representation case, we also derive a TBA equation from the osp(1|2s) version of the T-system and the quantum transfer matrix method. This TBA equation is identical to the one from the string hypothesis. The central charge is expressed by the Rogers dilogarithmic function, and identified to s.

Thermodynamics of osp(1|2) Integrable Spin Chain: Finite Size Correction

This note is a supplement to our previous papers: Mod. Phys. Lett. A14 (1999) 2427 (math-ph/9911010); Int. J. Mod. Phys. A15 (2000) 2329 (math-ph/9912014). The thermodynamic Bethe ansatz (TBA) equation for an integrable spin chain related to the Lie superalgebra osp(1|2) is analyzed. The central charge determined by low temperature asymptotics of the specific heat can be expressed by the Rogers dilogarithmic function, and identified to be 1. Solving the TBA equation numerically, we evaluate the several thermodynamic quantities. The excited state TBA equation is also discussed.

Thermodynamic Bethe ansatz equation from fusion hierarchy of osp(1|2) integrable spin chain

The thermodynamic Bethe ansatz (TBA) and the excited state TBA equations for an integrable spin chain related to the Lie superalgebra osp(1|2) are proposed by the quantum transfer matrix (QTM) method. We introduce the fusion hierarchy of the QTM and derive the functional relations among them (T-system) and their certain combinations (Y-system). Their analytical property leads to the non-linear integral equations which describe the free energy and the correlation length at any finite temperatures. With regard to the free energy, they coincide with the TBA equation (math-ph/9911010, Mod. Phys. Lett. A, 14, 2427 (1999)) based on the string hypothesis.

Solutions of Discretized Affine Toda Field Equations for A_{n}^{(1)}, B_{n}^{(1)}, C_{n}^{(1)}, D_{n}^{(1)}, A_{n}^{(2)} and D_{n+1}^{(2)}

It is known that a family of transfer matrix functional equations, the T-system, can be compactly written in terms of the Cartan matrix of a simple Lie algebra. We formally replace this Cartan matrix of a simple Lie algebra with that of an affine Lie algebra, and then we obtain a system of functional equations different from the T-system. It may be viewed as an X_{n}^{(a)} type affine Toda field equation on discrete space time. We present, for A_{n}^{(1)}, B_{n}^{(1)}, C_{n}^{(1)}, D_{n}^{(1)}, A_{n}^{(2)} and D_{n+1}^{(2)}, its solutions in terms of determinants or Pfaffians.
