DTSGAN: Learning Dynamic Textures via Spatiotemporal Generative Adversarial Network

Dynamic texture synthesis aims to generate sequences that are visually similar to a reference video texture and exhibit specific stationary properties in time. In this paper, we introduce a spatiotemporal generative adversarial network (DTSGAN) that can learn from a single dynamic texture by capturing its motion and content distribution. With the pipeline of DTSGAN, a new video sequence is generated from the coarsest scale to the finest one. To avoid mode collapse, we propose a novel strategy for data updates that helps improve the diversity of generated results. Qualitative and quantitative experiments show that our model is able to generate high quality dynamic textures and natural motion.

Consistent Human Image and Video Generation with Spatially Conditioned Diffusion

Consistent human-centric image and video synthesis aims to generate images or videos with new poses while preserving appearance consistency with a given reference image, which is crucial for low-cost visual content creation. Recent advances based on diffusion models typically rely on separate networks for reference appearance feature extraction and target visual generation, leading to inconsistent domain gaps between references and targets. In this paper, we frame the task as a spatially-conditioned inpainting problem, where the target image is inpainted to maintain appearance consistency with the reference. This approach enables the reference features to guide the generation of pose-compliant targets within a unified denoising network, thereby mitigating domain gaps. Additionally, to better maintain the reference appearance information, we impose a causal feature interaction framework, in which reference features can only query from themselves, while target features can query appearance information from both the reference and the target. To further enhance computational efficiency and flexibility, in practical implementation, we decompose the spatially-conditioned generation process into two stages: reference appearance extraction and conditioned target generation. Both stages share a single denoising network, with interactions restricted to self-attention layers. This proposed method ensures flexible control over the appearance of generated human images and videos. By fine-tuning existing base diffusion models on human video data, our method demonstrates strong generalization to unseen human identities and poses without requiring additional per-instance fine-tuning. Experimental results validate the effectiveness of our approach, showing competitive performance compared to existing methods for consistent human image and video synthesis.

Electromagnetic Information Theory for Holographic MIMO Communications

Holographic multiple-input multiple-output (HMIMO) utilizes a compact antenna array to form a nearly continuous aperture, thereby enhancing higher capacity and more flexible configurations compared with conventional MIMO systems, making it attractive in current scientific research. Key questions naturally arise regarding the potential of HMIMO to surpass Shannon's theoretical limits and how far its capabilities can be extended. However, the traditional Shannon information theory falls short in addressing these inquiries because it only focuses on the information itself while neglecting the underlying carrier, electromagnetic (EM) waves, and environmental interactions. To fill up the gap between the theoretical analysis and the practical application for HMIMO systems, we introduce electromagnetic information theory (EIT) in this paper. This paper begins by laying the foundation for HMIMO-oriented EIT, encompassing EM wave equations and communication regions. In the context of HMIMO systems, the resultant physical limitations are presented, involving Chu's limit, Harrington's limit, Hannan's limit, and the evaluation of coupling effects. Field sampling and HMIMO-assisted oversampling are also discussed to guide the optimal HMIMO design within the EIT framework. To comprehensively depict the EM-compliant propagation process, we present the approximate and exact channel modeling approaches in near-/far-field zones. Furthermore, we discuss both traditional Shannon's information theory, employing the probabilistic method, and Kolmogorov information theory, utilizing the functional analysis, for HMIMO-oriented EIT systems.

NVComposer: Boosting Generative Novel View Synthesis with Multiple Sparse and Unposed Images

Recent advancements in generative models have significantly improved novel view synthesis (NVS) from multi-view data. However, existing methods depend on external multi-view alignment processes, such as explicit pose estimation or pre-reconstruction, which limits their flexibility and accessibility, especially when alignment is unstable due to insufficient overlap or occlusions between views. In this paper, we propose NVComposer, a novel approach that eliminates the need for explicit external alignment. NVComposer enables the generative model to implicitly infer spatial and geometric relationships between multiple conditional views by introducing two key components: 1) an image-pose dual-stream diffusion model that simultaneously generates target novel views and condition camera poses, and 2) a geometry-aware feature alignment module that distills geometric priors from dense stereo models during training. Extensive experiments demonstrate that NVComposer achieves state-of-the-art performance in generative multi-view NVS tasks, removing the reliance on external alignment and thus improving model accessibility. Our approach shows substantial improvements in synthesis quality as the number of unposed input views increases, highlighting its potential for more flexible and accessible generative NVS systems. Joint Beamforming and Antenna Design for Near-Field Fluid Antenna System

In this letter, we study the energy efficiency maximization problem for a fluid antenna system (FAS) in near field communications. Specifically, we consider a point-to-point near-field system where the base station (BS) transmitter has multiple fixed-position antennas and the user receives the signals with multiple fluid antennas. Our objective is to jointly optimize the transmit beamforming of the BS and the fluid antenna positions at the user for maximizing the energy efficiency. Our scheme is based on an alternating optimization algorithm that iteratively solves the beamforming and antenna position subproblems. Our simulation results validate the performance improvement of the proposed algorithm and confirm the effectiveness of FAS.

Channel Deduction: A New Learning Framework to Acquire Channel from Outdated Samples and Coarse Estimate

How to reduce the pilot overhead required for channel estimation? How to deal with the channel dynamic changes and error propagation in channel prediction? To jointly address these two critical issues in next-generation transceiver design, in this paper, we propose a novel framework named channel deduction for high-dimensional channel acquisition in multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO)-orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) systems. Specifically, it makes use of the outdated channel information of past time slots, performs coarse estimation for the current channel with a relatively small number of pilots, and then fuses these two information to obtain a complete representation of the present channel. The rationale is to align the current channel representation to both the latent channel features within the past samples and the coarse estimate of current channel at the pilots, which, in a sense, behaves as a complementary combination of estimation and prediction and thus reduces the overall overhead. To fully exploit the highly nonlinear correlations in time, space, and frequency domains, we resort to learning-based implementation approaches. By using the highly efficient complex-domain multilayer perceptron (MLP)-mixer for crossing space-frequency domain representation and the recurrence-based or attention-based mechanisms for the past-present interaction, we respectively design two different channel deduction neural networks (CDNets). We provide a general procedure of data collection, training, and deployment to standardize the application of CDNets. Comprehensive experimental evaluations in accuracy, robustness, and efficiency demonstrate the superiority of the proposed approach, which reduces the pilot overhead by up to 88.9% compared to state-of-the-art estimation approaches and enables continuous operating even under unknown user movement and error propagation.

Sampling-guided Heterogeneous Graph Neural Network with Temporal Smoothing for Scalable Longitudinal Data Imputation

In this paper, we propose a novel framework, the Sampling-guided Heterogeneous Graph Neural Network (SHT-GNN), to effectively tackle the challenge of missing data imputation in longitudinal studies. Unlike traditional methods, which often require extensive preprocessing to handle irregular or inconsistent missing data, our approach accommodates arbitrary missing data patterns while maintaining computational efficiency. SHT-GNN models both observations and covariates as distinct node types, connecting observation nodes at successive time points through subject-specific longitudinal subnetworks, while covariate-observation interactions are represented by attributed edges within bipartite graphs. By leveraging subject-wise mini-batch sampling and a multi-layer temporal smoothing mechanism, SHT-GNN efficiently scales to large datasets, while effectively learning node representations and imputing missing data. Extensive experiments on both synthetic and real-world datasets, including the Alzheimer's Disease Neuroimaging Initiative (ADNI) dataset, demonstrate that SHT-GNN significantly outperforms existing imputation methods, even with high missing data rates. The empirical results highlight SHT-GNN's robust imputation capabilities and superior performance, particularly in the context of complex, large-scale longitudinal data.

Enhancing Missing Data Imputation through Combined Bipartite Graph and Complete Directed Graph

In this paper, we aim to address a significant challenge in the field of missing data imputation: identifying and leveraging the interdependencies among features to enhance missing data imputation for tabular data. We introduce a novel framework named the Bipartite and Complete Directed Graph Neural Network (BCGNN). Within BCGNN, observations and features are differentiated as two distinct node types, and the values of observed features are converted into attributed edges linking them. The bipartite segment of our framework inductively learns embedding representations for nodes, efficiently utilizing the comprehensive information encapsulated in the attributed edges. In parallel, the complete directed graph segment adeptly outlines and communicates the complex interdependencies among features. When compared to contemporary leading imputation methodologies, BCGNN consistently outperforms them, achieving a noteworthy average reduction of 15% in mean absolute error for feature imputation tasks under different missing mechanisms. Our extensive experimental investigation confirms that an in-depth grasp of the interdependence structure substantially enhances the model's feature embedding ability. We also highlight the model's superior performance in label prediction tasks involving missing data, and its formidable ability to generalize to unseen data points.

Exploiting On-Orbit Characteristics for Joint Parameter and Channel Tracking in LEO Satellite Communications

In high-dynamic low earth orbit (LEO) satellite communication (SATCOM) systems, frequent channel state information (CSI) acquisition consumes a large number of pilots, which is intolerable in resource-limited SATCOM systems. To tackle this problem, we propose to track the state-dependent parameters including Doppler shift and channel angles, by exploiting the physical and approximate on-orbit mobility characteristics for LEO satellite and ground users (GUs), respectively. As a prerequisite for tracking, we formulate the state evolution models for kinematic (state) parameters of both satellite and GUs, along with the measurement models that describe the relationship between the state-dependent parameters and states. Then the rough estimation of state-dependent parameters is initially conducted, which is used as the measurement results in the subsequent state tracking. Concurrently, the measurement error covariance is predicted based on the formulated Cram$\acute{\text{e}}$r-Rao lower bound (CRLB). Finally, with the extended Kalman filter (EKF)-based state tracking as the bridge, the Doppler shift and channel angles can be further updated and the CSI can also be acquired. Simulation results show that compared to the rough estimation methods, the proposed joint parameter and channel tracking (JPCT) algorithm performs much better in the estimation of state-dependent parameters. Moreover, as to the CSI acquisition, the proposed algorithm can utilize a shorter pilot sequence than benchmark methods under a given estimation accuracy.

Electromagnetic Hybrid Beamforming for Holographic Communications

It is well known that there is inherent radiation pattern distortion for the commercial base station antenna array, which usually needs three antenna sectors to cover the whole space. To eliminate pattern distortion and further enhance beamforming performance, we propose an electromagnetic hybrid beamforming (EHB) scheme based on a three-dimensional (3D) superdirective holographic antenna array. Specifically, EHB consists of antenna excitation current vectors (analog beamforming) and digital precoding matrices, where the implementation of analog beamforming involves the real-time adjustment of the radiation pattern to adapt it to the dynamic wireless environment. Meanwhile, the digital beamforming is optimized based on the channel characteristics of analog beamforming to further improve the achievable rate of communication systems. An electromagnetic channel model incorporating array radiation patterns and the mutual coupling effect is also developed to evaluate the benefits of our proposed scheme. Simulation results demonstrate that our proposed EHB scheme with a 3D holographic array achieves a relatively flat superdirective beamforming gain and allows for programmable focusing directions throughout the entire spatial domain. Furthermore, they also verify that the proposed scheme achieves a sum rate gain of over 150% compared to traditional beamforming algorithms.

Beam dynamics induced by the quantum metric of exceptional rings

Topological physics has broadened its scope from the study of topological insulating phases to include nodal phases containing band structure singularities. The geometry of the corresponding quantum states is described by the quantum metric which provides a theoretical framework for explaining phenomena that conventional approaches fail to address. The field has become even broader by encompassing non-Hermitian singularities: in addition to Dirac, Weyl nodes, or nodal lines, it is now common to encounter exceptional points, exceptional or Weyl rings, and even Weyl spheres. They give access to fascinating effects that cannot be reached within the Hermitian picture. However, the quantum geometry of non-Hermitian singularities is not a straightforward extension of the Hermitian one, remaining far less understood. Here, we study experimentally and theoretically the dynamics of wave packets at exceptional rings stemming from Dirac points in a photonic honeycomb lattice. First, we demonstrate a transition between conical diffraction and non-Hermitian broadening in real space. Next, we predict and demonstrate a new non-Hermitian effect in the reciprocal space, induced by the non-orthogonality of the eigenstates. We call it transverse non-Hermitian drift, and its description requires biorthogonal quantum metric. The non-Hermitian drift can be used for applications in beam steering.

Homogeneous Tokenizer Matters: Homogeneous Visual Tokenizer for Remote Sensing Image Understanding

The tokenizer, as one of the fundamental components of large models, has long been overlooked or even misunderstood in visual tasks. One key factor of the great comprehension power of the large language model is that natural language tokenizers utilize meaningful words or subwords as the basic elements of language. In contrast, mainstream visual tokenizers, represented by patch-based methods such as Patch Embed, rely on meaningless rectangular patches as basic elements of vision, which cannot serve as effectively as words or subwords in language. Starting from the essence of the tokenizer, we defined semantically independent regions (SIRs) for vision. We designed a simple HOmogeneous visual tOKenizer: HOOK. HOOK mainly consists of two modules: the Object Perception Module (OPM) and the Object Vectorization Module (OVM). To achieve homogeneity, the OPM splits the image into 4*4 pixel seeds and then utilizes the attention mechanism to perceive SIRs. The OVM employs cross-attention to merge seeds within the same SIR. To achieve adaptability, the OVM defines a variable number of learnable vectors as cross-attention queries, allowing for the adjustment of token quantity. We conducted experiments on the NWPU-RESISC45, WHU-RS19 classification dataset, and GID5 segmentation dataset for sparse and dense tasks. The results demonstrate that the visual tokens obtained by HOOK correspond to individual objects, which demonstrates homogeneity. HOOK outperformed Patch Embed by 6\% and 10\% in the two tasks and achieved state-of-the-art performance compared to the baselines used for comparison. Compared to Patch Embed, which requires more than one hundred tokens for one image, HOOK requires only 6 and 8 tokens for sparse and dense tasks, respectively, resulting in efficiency improvements of 1.5 to 2.8 times. The code is available at https://github.com/GeoX-Lab/Hook.

Multi-Sources Fusion Learning for Multi-Points NLOS Localization in OFDM System

Accurate localization of mobile terminals is a pivotal aspect of integrated sensing and communication systems. Traditional fingerprint-based localization methods, which infer coordinates from channel information within pre-set rectangular areas, often face challenges due to the heterogeneous distribution of fingerprints inherent in non-line-of-sight (NLOS) scenarios, particularly within orthogonal frequency division multiplexing systems. To overcome this limitation, we develop a novel multi-sources information fusion learning framework referred to as the Autosync Multi-Domains NLOS Localization (AMDNLoc). Specifically, AMDNLoc employs a two-stage matched filter fused with a target tracking algorithm and iterative centroid-based clustering to automatically and irregularly segment NLOS regions, ensuring uniform distribution within channel state information across frequency, power, and time-delay domains. Additionally, the framework utilizes a segment-specific linear classifier array, coupled with deep residual network-based feature extraction and fusion, to establish the correlation function between fingerprint features and coordinates within these regions. Simulation results reveal that AMDNLoc achieves an impressive NLOS localization accuracy of 1.46 meters on typical wireless artificial intelligence research datasets and demonstrates significant improvements in interpretability, adaptability, and scalability.

Exploring Hannan Limitation for 3D Antenna Array

Hannan Limitation successfully links the directivity characteristics of 2D arrays with the aperture gain limit, providing the radiation efficiency upper limit for large 2D planar antenna arrays. This demonstrates the inevitable radiation efficiency degradation caused by mutual coupling effects between array elements. However, this limitation is derived based on the assumption of infinitely large 2D arrays, which means that it is not an accurate law for small-size arrays. In this paper, we extend this theory and propose an estimation formula for the radiation efficiency upper limit of finite-sized 2D arrays. Furthermore, we analyze a 3D array structure consisting of two parallel 2D arrays. Specifically, we provide evaluation formulas for the mutual coupling strengths for both infinite and finite size arrays and derive the fundamental efficiency limit of 3D arrays. Moreover, based on the established gain limit of antenna arrays with fixed aperture sizes, we derive the achievable gain limit of finite size 3D arrays. Besides the performance analyses, we also investigate the spatial radiation characteristics of the considered 3D array structure, offering a feasible region for 2D phase settings under a given energy attenuation threshold. Through simulations, we demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposed theories and gain advantages of 3D arrays for better spatial coverage under various scenarios.

Robust Continuous-Time Beam Tracking with Liquid Neural Network

Millimeter-wave (mmWave) technology is increasingly recognized as a pivotal technology of the sixth-generation communication networks due to the large amounts of available spectrum at high frequencies. However, the huge overhead associated with beam training imposes a significant challenge in mmWave communications, particularly in urban environments with high background noise. To reduce this high overhead, we propose a novel solution for robust continuous-time beam tracking with liquid neural network, which dynamically adjust the narrow mmWave beams to ensure real-time beam alignment with mobile users. Through extensive simulations, we validate the effectiveness of our proposed method and demonstrate its superiority over existing state-of-the-art deep-learning-based approaches. Specifically, our scheme achieves at most 46.9% higher normalized spectral efficiency than the baselines when the user is moving at 5 m/s, demonstrating the potential of liquid neural networks to enhance mmWave mobile communication performance.

MotionCraft: Crafting Whole-Body Motion with Plug-and-Play Multimodal Controls

Whole-body multimodal motion generation, controlled by text, speech, or music, has numerous applications including video generation and character animation. However, employing a unified model to achieve various generation tasks with different condition modalities presents two main challenges: motion distribution drifts across different tasks (e.g., co-speech gestures and text-driven daily actions) and the complex optimization of mixed conditions with varying granularities (e.g., text and audio). Additionally, inconsistent motion formats across different tasks and datasets hinder effective training toward multimodal motion generation. In this paper, we propose MotionCraft, a unified diffusion transformer that crafts whole-body motion with plug-and-play multimodal control. Our framework employs a coarse-to-fine training strategy, starting with the first stage of text-to-motion semantic pre-training, followed by the second stage of multimodal low-level control adaptation to handle conditions of varying granularities. To effectively learn and transfer motion knowledge across different distributions, we design MC-Attn for parallel modeling of static and dynamic human topology graphs. To overcome the motion format inconsistency of existing benchmarks, we introduce MC-Bench, the first available multimodal whole-body motion generation benchmark based on the unified SMPL-X format. Extensive experiments show that MotionCraft achieves state-of-the-art performance on various standard motion generation tasks.
