Two-Dimensional Superfluid Flows in Inhomogeneous Bose-Einstein Condensates

We report a novel algorithm of constructing linear and nonlinear potentials in the two-dimensional Gross-Pitaevskii equation subject to given boundary conditions, which allow for exact analytic solutions. The obtained solutions represent superfluid flows in inhomogeneous Bose-Einstein condensates. The method is based on the combination of the similarity reduction of the two-dimensional Gross-Pitaevskii equation to the one-dimensional nonlinear Schrodinger equation, the latter allowing for exact solutions, with the conformal mapping of the given domain, where the flow is considered, to a half-space. The stability of the obtained flows is addressed. A number of stable and physically relevant examples are described.

Nonautonomous discrete rogue waves and interaction in the generalized Ablowitz-Ladik-Hirota lattice with variable coefficients

We analytically investigate the nonautonomous discrete rogue wave solutions and their interaction in the generalized Ablowitz-Ladik-Hirota lattice with variable coefficients, which possess complicated wave propagations in time and are beyond the usual discrete rogue waves. When the amplitude of the tunnel coupling coefficient between sites decreases, these nonautonomous discrete rogue wave solutions become localized in time after they propagate over some certain large critical values. Moreover, we find that the interaction between nonautonomous discrete rogue waves is elastic. In particular, these results can reduce to the usual discrete rogue wave solutions when the gain or loss term is ignored.

Financial Rogue Waves Appearing in the Coupled Nonlinear Volatility and Option Pricing Model

The coupled nonlinear volatility and option pricing model presented recently by Ivancevic is investigated, which generates a leverage effect, i.e., stock volatility is (negatively) correlated to stock returns, and can be regarded as a coupled nonlinear wave alternative of the Black-Scholes option pricing model. In this short report, we analytically propose the two-component financial rogue waves of the coupled nonlinear volatility and option pricing model without an embedded w-learning. Moreover, we exhibit their dynamical behaviors for chosen different parameters. The two-component financial rogue wave solutions may be used to describe the possible physical mechanisms for the rogue wave phenomena and to further excite the possibility of relative researches and potential applications of rogue waves in the financial markets and other related fields.

Three-dimensional rogue waves in non-stationary parabolic potentials

Using symmetry analysis we systematically present a higher-dimensional similarity transformation reducing the (3+1)-dimensional inhomogeneous nonlinear Schrodinger (NLS) equation with variable coefficients and parabolic potential to the (1+1)-dimensional NLS equation with constant coefficients. This transformation allows us to relate certain class of localized exact solutions of the (3+1)-dimensional case to the variety of solutions of integrable NLS equation of (1+1)-dimensional case. As an example, we illustrated our technique using two lowest order rational solutions of the NLS equation as seeding functions to obtain rogue wave-like solutions localized in three dimensions that have complicated evolution in time including interactions between two time-dependent rogue wave solutions. The obtained three-dimensional rogue wave-like solutions may raise the possibility of relative experiments and potential applications in nonlinear optics and BECs.

Spontaneous Parity--Time Symmetry Breaking and Stability of Solitons in Bose-Einstein Condensates

We report explicitly a novel family of exact PT-symmetric solitons and further study their spontaneous PT symmetry breaking, stabilities and collisions in Bose-Einstein condensates trapped in a PT-symmetric harmonic trap and a Hermite-Gaussian gain/loss potential. We observe the significant effects of mean-field interaction by modifying the threshold point of spontaneous PT symmetry breaking in Bose-Einstein condensates. Our scenario provides a promising approach to study PT-related universal behaviors in non-Hermitian quantum system based on the manipulation of gain/loss potential in Bose-Einstein condensates.

Nonautonomous "rogons" in the inhomogeneous nonlinear Schrodinger equation with variable coefficients

The analytical nonautonomous rogons are reported for the inhomogeneous nonlinear Schrödinger equation with variable coefficients in terms of rational-like functions by using the similarity transformation and direct ansatz. These obtained solutions can be used to describe the possible formation mechanisms for optical, oceanic, and matter rogue wave phenomenon in optical fibres, the deep ocean, and Bose-Einstein condensates, respectively. Moreover, the snake propagation traces and the fascinating interactions of two nonautonomous rogons are generated for the chosen different parameters. The obtained nonautonomous rogons may excite the possibility of relative experiments and potential applications for the rogue wave phenomenon in the field of nonlinear science.

Financial rogue waves

The financial rogue waves are reported analytically in the nonlinear option pricing model due to Ivancevic, which is nonlinear wave alternative of the Black-Scholes model. These solutions may be used to describe the possible physical mechanisms for rogue wave phenomenon in financial markets and related fields.

Analytical three-dimensional bright solitons and soliton-pairs in Bose-Einstein condensates with time-space modulation

We provide analytical three-dimensional bright multi-soliton solutions to the (3+1)-dimensional Gross-Pitaevskii (GP) equation with time and space-dependent potential, time-dependent nonlinearity, and gain/loss. The zigzag propagation trace and the breathing behavior of solitons are observed. Different shapes of bright solitons and fascinating interactions between two solitons can be achieved with different parameters. The obtained results may raise the possibility of relative experiments and potential applications.
