Codebook Configuration for RIS-aided Systems via Implicit Neural Representations

Reconfigurable Intelligent Surface (RIS) is envisioned to be an enabling technique in 6G wireless communications. By configuring the reflection beamforming codebook, RIS focuses signals on target receivers to enhance signal strength. In this paper, we investigate the codebook configuration for RIS-aided communication systems. We formulate an implicit relationship between user's coordinates information and the codebook from the perspective of signal radiation mechanisms, and introduce a novel learning-based method, implicit neural representations (INRs), to solve this implicit coordinates-to-codebook mapping problem. Our approach requires only user's coordinates, avoiding reliance on channel models. Additionally, given the significant practical applications of the 1-bit RIS, we formulate the 1-bit codebook configuration as a multi-label classification problem, and propose an encoding strategy for 1-bit RIS to reduce the codebook dimension, thereby improving learning efficiency. Experimental results from simulations and measured data demonstrate significant advantages of our method.

IDA function and asymptotic behavior of singular values of Hankel operators on weighted Bergman spaces

In this paper, we use the non-increasing rearrangement of ${\rm IDA}$ function with respect to a suitable measure to characterize the asymptotic behavior of the singular values sequence $\{s_n(H_f)\}_n$ of Hankel operators $H_f$ acting on a large class of weighted Bergman spaces, including standard Bergman spaces on the unit disc, standard Fock spaces and weighted Fock spaces. As a corollary, we show that the simultaneous asymptotic behavior of $\{s_n(H_f)\}$ and $\{s_n(H_{\bar{f}})\}$ can be characterized in terms of the asymptotic behavior of non-increasing rearrangement of mean oscillation function. Moreover, in the context of weighted Fock spaces, we demonstrate the Berger-Coburn phenomenon concerning the membership of Hankel operators in the weak Schatten $p$-class.

Dipolar bosons in a twisted bilayer geometry

In recent years, twisted bilayer systems such as bilayer graphene have attracted a great deal of attention as the twist angle introduces a degree of freedom which can be used to non-trivially modify system properties. This idea has been picked up in the cold atom community, first with a theoretical proposal to simulate twisted bilayers in state-dependent optical lattices, and, more recently, with an experimental realization of twisted bilayers with bosonic atoms in two different spin states. In this manuscript, we theoretically investigate dipolar bosons in a twisted bilayer geometry. The interplay between dipolar interaction and the twist between the layers results in the emergence of quantum states not observed in the absence of twist. We study how system properties vary as we change the twist angle at fixed distance between the layers and fixed dipolar interaction. We find that at a twist angle $θ=0.1^{\circ}$, the observed quantum phases are consistent with those seen in the absence of twist angle, i.e. paired superfluid, paired supersolid, and paired solid phases. However, a slight increase in the twist angle to $θ=0.2^{\circ}$ disrupts these paired phases in favor of a phase separation between checkerboard solid and superfluid regions. Notably, at a twist angle of $θ=5.21^{\circ}$, the local occupation number follows the moiré pattern of the underlying moiré bilayers so that a periodic structure of insulating islands is formed. These insulating islands are surrounded by a superfluid.

Rapidly Achieving Chemical Accuracy with Quantum Computing Enforced Language Model

Finding accurate ground state energy of a many-body system has been a major challenge in quantum chemistry. The integration of classic and quantum computers has shed new light on resolving this outstanding problem. Here we propose QiankunNet-VQE, a transformer based language models enforced with quantum computing to learn and generate quantum states. It has been implemented using up to 12 qubits and attaining an accuracy level competitive with state-of-the-art classical methods. By leveraging both quantum and classical resources, this scheme overcomes the limitations of variational quantum eigensolver(VQE) without the need for cumbersome error mitigation. Moreover, QiankunNet-VQE provides a different route to achieve a practical quantum advantage for solving many-electron Schrödinger equation without requiring extremely precise preparation and measurement of the ground-state wavefunction on quantum computer.

Two-dimensional XY Ferromagnet Induced by Long-range Interaction

The crossover between short-range and long-range (LR) universal behaviors remains a central theme in the physics of long-range interacting systems. The competition between LR coupling and the Berezinskii-Kosterlitz-Thouless mechanism makes the problem more subtle and less understood in the two-dimensional (2D) XY model, a cornerstone for investigating low-dimensional phenomena and their implications in quantum computation. We study the 2D XY model with algebraically decaying interaction $\sim1/r^{2+σ}$. Utilizing an advanced update strategy, we conduct large-scale Monte Carlo simulations of the model up to a linear size of $L=8192$. Our results demonstrate continuous phase transitions into a ferromagnetic phase for $σ\leq 2$, which exhibits the simultaneous emergence of a long-ranged order and a power-law decaying correlation function due to the Goldstone mode. Furthermore, we find logarithmic scaling behaviors in the low-temperature phase at $σ= 2$. The observed scaling behaviors in the low-temperature phase for $σ\le 2$ agree with our theoretical analysis. Our findings request further theoretical understandings and can be of practical application in cutting-edge experiments like Rydberg atom arrays.

Schatten--Lorentz characterization of Riesz transform commutator associated with Bessel operators

Let $Δ_λ$ be the Bessel operator on the upper half space $\mathbb{R}_+^{n+1}$ with $n\geq 0$ and $λ>0$, and $R_{λ,j}$ be the $j-$th Bessel Riesz transform, $j=1,\ldots,n+1$. We demonstrate that the Schatten--Lorentz norm ($S^{p,q}$, $1<p<\infty$, $1\leq q\leq \infty$) of the commutator $[b,R_{λ,j}]$ can be characterized in terms of the oscillation space norm of the symbol $b$. In particular, for the case $p=q$, the Schatten norm of $[b,R_{λ,j}]$ can be further characterized in terms of the Besov norm of the symbol. Moreover, the critical index is also studied, which is $p=n+1$, the lower dimension of the Bessel measure (but not the upper dimension). Our approach relies on martingale and dyadic analysis, which enables us to bypass the use of Fourier analysis effectively.

Operator-Valued Hardy spaces and BMO Spaces on Spaces of Homogeneous Type

Let $\mathcal{M}$ be a von Neumann algebra equipped with a normal semifinite faithful trace, $(\mathbb{X},\,d,\,μ)$ be a space of homogeneous type in the sense of Coifman and Weiss, and $\mathcal{N}=L_\infty(\mathbb{X})\overline{\otimes}\mathcal{M}$. In this paper, we introduce and then conduct a systematic study on the operator-valued Hardy space $\mathcal{H}_p(\mathbb{X},\,\mathcal{M})$ for all $1\leq p<\infty$ and operator-valued BMO space $\mathcal{BMO}(\mathbb{X},\,\mathcal{M})$. The main results of this paper include $H_1$--$BMO$ duality theorem, atomic decomposition of $\mathcal{H}_1(\mathbb{X},\,\mathcal{M})$, interpolation between these Hardy spaces and BMO spaces, and equivalence between mixture Hardy spaces and $L_p$-spaces. %Compared with the communcative results, the novelty of this article is that $μ$ is not assumed to satisfy the reverse double condition. %The approaches we develop bypass the use of harmonicity of infinitesimal generator, which allows us to extend Mei's seminal work \cite{m07} to a broader setting. %Our results extend Mei's seminal work \cite{m07} to a broader setting. In particular, without the use of non-commutative martingale theory as in Mei's seminal work \cite{m07}, we provide a direct proof for the interpolation theory. Moreover, under our assumption on Calderón representation formula, these results are even new when going back to the commutative setting for spaces of homogeneous type which fails to satisfy reverse doubling condition. As an application, we obtain the $L_p(\mathcal{N})$-boundedness of operator-valued Calderón-Zygmund operators.

Characterizations of product Hardy spaces on stratified groups by singular integrals and maximal functions

A large part of the theory of Hardy spaces on products of Euclidean spaces has been extended to the setting of products of stratified Lie groups. This includes characterisation of Hardy spaces by square functions and by atomic decompositions, proof of the duality of Hardy spaces with BMO, and description of many interpolation spaces. Until now, however, two aspects of the classical theory have been conspicuously absent: the characterisation of Hardy spaces by singular integrals (of Christ--Geller type) or by (vertical or nontangential) maximal functions. In this paper we fill in these gaps by developing new techniques on products of stratified groups, using the ideas of Chen, Cowling, Lee, Li and Ottazzi on the Heisenberg group with flag structure.

Clock Factorized Quantum Monte Carlo Method for Long-range Interacting Systems

Simulating long-range interacting systems is a challenging task due to its computational complexity that the computational effort for each local update is of order $\cal{O}$$(N)$, where $N$ is the size of system. Recently, a technique, called hereby the clock factorized quantum Monte Carlo method, was developed on the basis of the so-called factorized Metropolis filter [Phys. Rev. E 99 010105 (2019)]. In this work, we first explain step by step how the clock factorized quantum Monte Carlo method is implemented to reduce the computational overhead from $\cal{O}$$(N)$ to $\cal{O}$(1). In particular, the core ingredients, including the concepts of bound probabilities and bound rejection events, the tree-like data structure, and the fast algorithms for sampling an extensive set of discrete and small probabilities, are elaborated. Next, we show how the clock factorized quantum Monte Carlo method can be flexibly implemented in various update strategies, like the Metropolis and worm-type algorithms, and can be generalized to simulate quantum systems. Finally, we demonstrate the high efficiency of the clock factorized quantum Monte Carlo algorithms in the examples of the quantum Ising model and the Bose-Hubbard model with long-range interactions and/or long-range hopping amplitudes. We expect that the clock factorized quantum Monte Carlo algorithms would find broad applications in statistical and condensed-matter physics.

Kibble-Zurek Mechanism for Nonequilibrium Generation of Magnetic Monopoles in Spin Ices

The proliferation of topological defects is a common out-of-equilibrium phenomenon when a system is driven into a phase of broken symmetry. The Kibble-Zurek mechanism (KZM) provides a theoretical framework for the critical dynamics and generation of topological defects in such scenarios. One of the early applications of KZM is the estimation of heavy magnetic monopoles left behind by the cosmological phase transitions in the early universe. The scarcity of such relic monopoles, which contradicts the prediction of KZM, is one of the main motivations for cosmological inflationary theories. On the other hand, magnetic monopoles as emergent quasi-particles have been observed in spin ices, a peculiar class of frustrated magnets that remain disordered at temperatures well below the energy scale of exchange interaction. Here we study the annihilation dynamics of magnetic monopoles when spin ice is cooled to zero temperature in a finite time. Through extensive Glauber dynamics simulations, we find that the density of residual monopole follows a power law dependence on the annealing rate. A kinetic reaction theory that precisely captures the annihilation process from Monte Carlo simulations is developed. We further show that the KZM can be generalized to describe the critical dynamics of spin ice, where the exponent of the power-law behavior is determined by the dynamic critical exponent $z$ and the cooling protocol.

Nonequilibrium generation of charge defects in kagome spin ice under slow cooling

Kagome spin ice is one of the canonical examples of highly frustrated magnets. The effective magnetic degrees of freedom in kagome spin ice are Ising spins residing on a two-dimensional network of corner-sharing triangles. Due to strong geometrical frustration, nearest-neighbor antiferromagnetic interactions on the kagome lattice give rise to a macroscopic number of degenerate classical ground states characterized by ice rules. Elementary excitations at low temperatures are defect-triangles that violate the ice rules and carry an additional net magnetic charge relative to the background. We perform large-scale Glauber dynamics simulations to study the nonequilibrium dynamics of kagome ice under slow cooling. We show that the density of residual charge defects exhibits a power law dependence on the quench rate for the class of algebraic cooling protocols. The numerical results are well captured by the rate equation for the charge defects based on the reaction kinetics theory. As the relaxation time of the kagome ice phase remains finite, there is no dynamical freezing as in the Kibble-Zurek scenario. Instead, we show that the power-law behavior originates from a thermal excitation that decay algebraically with time at the late stage of the cooling schedule. Similarities and differences in quench dynamics of other spin ice systems are also discussed.

Sharp endpoint $L_p$ estimates of quantum Schrödinger groups

In this article, we establish sharp endpoint $L_p$ estimates of Schrödinger groups on general measure spaces which may not be equipped with good metrics but admit submarkovian semigroups satisfying purely algebraic assumptions. One of the key ingredients of our proof is to introduce and investigate a new noncommutative high-cancellation BMO space by constructing an abstract form of P-metric codifying some sort of underlying metric and position. This provides the first form of Schrödinger group theory on arbitrary von Neumann algebras and can be applied to many models, including Schrödinger groups associated with non-negative self-adjoint operators satisfying purely Gaussian upper bounds on doubling metric spaces, standard Schrödinger groups on quantum Euclidean spaces, matrix algebras and group von Neumann algebras with finite dimensional cocycles.

Characterizations of the Hardy space $\mathcal{H}_{FIO}^{1}(\mathbb{R}^{n})$ for Fourier integral operators

The Hardy spaces for Fourier integral operators $\mathcal{H}_{FIO}^{p}(\mathbb{R}^{n})$, for $1\leq p\leq \infty$, were introduced by Smith in [Smith,1998] and Hassell et al. in [Hassell-Portal-Rozendaal,2020]. In this article, we give several equivalent characterizations of $\mathcal{H}_{FIO}^{1}(\mathbb{R}^{n})$, for example in terms of Littlewood--Paley $g$ functions and maximal functions. This answers a question from [Rozendaal,2021]. We also give several applications of the characterizations.

Atomistic simulation of Mott transition in fluid metals: Combining molecular dynamics with dynamical mean-field theory

We present a new quantum molecular dynamics (MD) method where the electronic structure and atomic forces are solved by a real-space dynamical mean-field theory (DMFT). Contrary to most quantum MD methods that are based on effective single-particle wave functions, the DMFT approach is able to describe correlation-induced Mott metal-insulator transitions and the associated incoherent electronic excitations in an atomic liquid. We apply the DMFT-MD method to study Mott transitions in an atomic liquid model which can be viewed as the liquid-state generalization of the Hubbard model. The half-filled Hubbard liquids also provide a minimum model for alkali fluid metals. Our simulations uncover two distinct types of Mott transition depending on the atomic bonding and short-range structures in the electronically delocalized phase. In the first scenario where atoms tend to form dimers, increasing the Hubbard repulsion gives rise to a transition from a molecular insulator to an atomic insulator with a small window of enhanced metallicity in the vicinity of the localization transition. On the other hand, for Hubbard liquids with atoms forming large conducting clusters, the localization of electrons leads to the fragmentation of clusters and is intimately related to the liquid-gas transition of atoms. Implications of our results for metal-insulator transitions in fluid alkali metals are discussed.

The Schrödinger equation in $L^p$ spaces for operators with heat kernel satisfying Poisson type bounds

Let $L$ be a non-negative self-adjoint operator acting on $L^2(X)$ where $X$ is a space of homogeneous type with a dimension $n$. In this paper, we study sharp endpoint $L^p$-Sobolev estimates for the solution of the initial value problem for the Schrödinger equation, $i \partial_t u + L u=0 $ and show that for all $f\in L^p(X), 1<p<\infty,$ \begin{eqnarray*} \left\| e^{itL} (I+L)^{-{σn}} f\right\|_{p} \leq C(1+|t|)^{σn} \|f\|_{p}, \ \ \ t\in{\mathbb R}, \ \ \ σ\geq \big|{1\over 2}-{1\over p}\big|, \end{eqnarray*} where the semigroup $e^{-tL}$ generated by $L$ satisfies a Poisson type upper bound. This extends the previous result in \cite{CDLY1} in which the semigroup $e^{-tL}$ generated by $L$ satisfies the exponential decay.

Endpoint weak Schatten class estimates and trace formula for commutators of Riesz transforms with multipliers on Heisenberg groups

Along the line of singular value estimates for commutators by Rochberg-Semmes, Lord-McDonald-Sukochev-Zanin and Fan-Lacey-Li, we establish the endpoint weak Schatten class estimate for commutators of Riesz transforms with multiplication operator $M_f$ on Heisenberg groups via homogeneous Sobolev norm of the symbol $f$. The new tool we exploit is the construction of a singular trace formula on Heisenberg groups, which, together with the use of double operator integrals, allows us to bypass the use of Fourier analysis and provides a solid foundation to investigate the singular values estimates for similar commutators in general stratified Lie groups.
