Analysis of the strong vertices of $Σ_{c}ΔD^{*}$ and $Σ_{b}ΔB^{*}$ in QCD sum rules

In this work, we analyze the strong vertices $Σ_{c}ΔD^{*}$ and $Σ_{b}ΔB^{*}$ using the three-point QCD sum rules under the tensor structures $iε^{ρταβ}p_αp'_β$, $p^ρp'^τ$ and $p^ρp^τ$. We firstly calculate the momentum dependent strong coupling constants $g(Q^{2})$ by considering contributions of the perturbative part and the condensate terms $\langle\overline{q}q\rangle$, $\langle g_{s}^{2}GG \rangle$, $\langle\overline{q}g_{s}σGq\rangle$ and $\langle\overline{q}q\rangle^{2}$. By fitting these coupling constants into analytical functions and extrapolating them into time-like regions, we then obtain the on-shell values of strong coupling constants for these vertices. The results are $g_{1Σ_{c}ΔD^{*}}=5.13^{+0.39}_{-0.49}$ GeV$^{-1}$, $g_{2Σ_{c}ΔD^{*}}=-3.03^{+0.27}_{-0.35}$ GeV$^{-2}$, $g_{3Σ_{c}ΔD^{*}}=17.64^{+1.51}_{-1.95}$ GeV$^{-2}$, $g_{1Σ_{b}ΔB^{*}}=20.97^{+2.15}_{-2.39}$ GeV$^{-1}$, $g_{2Σ_{b}ΔB^{*}}=-11.42^{+1.17}_{-1.28}$ GeV$^{-2}$ and $g_{3Σ_{b}ΔB^{*}}=24.87^{+2.57}_{-2.82}$ GeV$^{-2}$. These strong coupling constants are important parameters which can help us to understand the strong decay behaviors of hadrons.

The strong vertices of bottom mesons $B$, $B^{*}$ and bottomonia $Υ$, $η_{b}$

In this article, the strong coupling constants of vertices $BBΥ$, $BB^{*}Υ$, $B^{*}B^{*}Υ$, $BB^{*}η_{b}$ and $B^{*}B^{*}η_{b}$ are analyzed in the framework of QCD sum rules. In this work, all possible off-shell cases and the contributions of vacuum condensate terms including $\langle\overline{q}q\rangle$, $\langle\overline{q}g_{s}σGq\rangle$, $\langle g_{s}^{2}G^{2}\rangle$, $\langle f^{3}G^{3}\rangle$ and $\langle\overline{q}q\rangle\langle g_{s}^{2}G^{2}\rangle$ are considered. The momentum dependent strong coupling constants are first calculated and then are fitted into analytical functions $g(Q^{2})$ which are used to extrapolate into time-like regions to obtain the final values of strong coupling constants. The final results are $g_{BBΥ}=40.67^{+7.55}_{-4.20}$, $g_{BB^{*}Υ}=11.58^{+2.19}_{-1.09}$ GeV$^{-1}$, $g_{B^{*}B^{*}Υ}=57.02^{+5.32}_{-5.31}$, $g_{BB^{*}η_{b}}=23.39^{+4.74}_{-2.30}$ and $g_{B^{*}B^{*}η_{b}}=12.49^{+2.12}_{-1.35}$ GeV$^{-1}$. These strong coupling constants are important input parameters which reflect the dynamic properties of the interactions among the mesons and quarkonia.

Thermodynamic phase transition and winding number for the third-order Lovelock black hole

Phase transition is important for understanding the nature and evolution of the black hole thermodynamic system. In this study, the connection between the phase transition of a black hole and the winding number derived by the complex analysis is used to predict the type of the black hole phase transition. For the third-order Lovelock black holes, at the hyperbolic topology in any dimensions and the spherical topology in $7$ dimensions, we arrive at the winding numbers both are $W=3$ which predicts that the system will undergo both the first-order and second-order phase transitions. For the spherical topology in $7<d<12$ dimensions, the winding number is $W=4$ and the corresponding phase transition will occur in two situations: one with only pure second-order phase transition and the other with both first-order and second-order phase transitions. We further confirm the correctness and rationality of this prediction by placing the black hole thermodynamics system in the potential field.

Opinions with few disciples can win in the dynamical directed networks: an evolutionary game perspective

The voter model on networks is crucial to understand opinion formation. Uni-directional social interactions are ubiquitous in real social networks whereas undirected interactions are intensively studied. We establish a voter model on a dynamical directed network. We show that the opinion invasion is captured by a replicator equation of an emergent four-player two-strategy game, and the average in(out)-degree for the two opinions is fully captured by an emergent three-player two-strategy game. Interestingly, it is shown that the difference between the two emergent games arises from the uni-directionality of the network. The difference implies that the opinion with a small number of disciples can take over the population for in-group bias, provided that the network is directed. Our work makes an explicit connection between opinion dynamics and evolutionary games.

Graph Sampling-based Meta-Learning for Molecular Property Prediction

Molecular property is usually observed with a limited number of samples, and researchers have considered property prediction as a few-shot problem. One important fact that has been ignored by prior works is that each molecule can be recorded with several different properties simultaneously. To effectively utilize many-to-many correlations of molecules and properties, we propose a Graph Sampling-based Meta-learning (GS-Meta) framework for few-shot molecular property prediction. First, we construct a Molecule-Property relation Graph (MPG): molecule and properties are nodes, while property labels decide edges. Then, to utilize the topological information of MPG, we reformulate an episode in meta-learning as a subgraph of the MPG, containing a target property node, molecule nodes, and auxiliary property nodes. Third, as episodes in the form of subgraphs are no longer independent of each other, we propose to schedule the subgraph sampling process with a contrastive loss function, which considers the consistency and discrimination of subgraphs. Extensive experiments on 5 commonly-used benchmarks show GS-Meta consistently outperforms state-of-the-art methods by 5.71%-6.93% in ROC-AUC and verify the effectiveness of each proposed module. Our code is available at https://github.com/HICAI-ZJU/GS-Meta.

Nano-Subsidence Assisted Precise Integration of Patterned Two-Dimensional Materials for High-Performance Photodetector Arrays

The spatially precise integration of arrays of micro-patterned two-dimensional (2D) crystals onto three-dimensionally structured Si/SiO$_2$ substrates represents an attractive strategy towards the low-cost system-on-chip integration of extended functions in silicon microelectronics. However, the reliable integration of the arrays of 2D materials on non-flat surfaces has thus far proved extremely challenging due to their poor adhesion to underlying substrates as ruled by weak van der Waals interactions. Here we report on a novel fabrication method based on nano-subsidence which enables the precise and reliable integration of the micro-patterned 2D materials/silicon photodiode arrays exhibiting high uniformity. Our devices display peak sensitivity as high as 0.35 A/W and external quantum efficiency (EQE) of ca. 90%, outperforming most commercial photodiodes. The nano-subsidence technique opens a viable path to on-chip integrate 2D crystals onto silicon for beyond-silicon microelectronics.

Anisotropic flow and the valence quark skeleton of hadrons

We study transverse momentum anisotropies, in particular, the elliptic flow $v_2$ due to the interference effect sourced by valence quarks in high-energy hadron-hadron collisions. Our main formula is derived as the high-energy (eikonal) limit of the impact-parameter dependent cross section in quantum field theory, which agrees with that in terms of the impact parameter in the classical picture. As a quantitative assessment of the interference effect, we calculate $v_2$ in the azimuthal distribution of gluons at a comprehensive coverage of the impact parameter and the transverse momentum in high-energy pion-pion collisions. In a broad range of the impact parameter, a sizable amount of $v_2$, comparable with that produced due to saturated dense gluons or final-state interactions, is found to develop. In our calculations, the valence sector of the pion wave function is obtained numerically from the Basis Light-Front Quantization, a non-perturbative light-front Hamiltonian approach. And our formalism is generic and can be applied to other small collision systems like proton-proton collisions.

OneShotSTL: One-Shot Seasonal-Trend Decomposition For Online Time Series Anomaly Detection And Forecasting

Seasonal-trend decomposition is one of the most fundamental concepts in time series analysis that supports various downstream tasks, including time series anomaly detection and forecasting. However, existing decomposition methods rely on batch processing with a time complexity of O(W), where W is the number of data points within a time window. Therefore, they cannot always efficiently support real-time analysis that demands low processing delay. To address this challenge, we propose OneShotSTL, an efficient and accurate algorithm that can decompose time series online with an update time complexity of O(1). OneShotSTL is more than $1,000$ times faster than the batch methods, with accuracy comparable to the best counterparts. Extensive experiments on real-world benchmark datasets for downstream time series anomaly detection and forecasting tasks demonstrate that OneShotSTL is from 10 to over 1,000 times faster than the state-of-the-art methods, while still providing comparable or even better accuracy.

Rate of the phase transition for a charged anti-de Sitter black hole

Phase transition is a core content of black hole thermodynamics. This study adopted the Kramer's escape rate method for describing the Brownian motion of particles in an external field to investigate the intensity of the phase transition between small and large black hole states. Some existing studies mostly focused on the formal analysis of the thermodynamic phase transition of black holes, but they neglected the detailed description of the phase transition process. Our results show that the phase transition between small and large black holes for charged anti-de Sitter (AdS) black holes presents serious asymmetric features, and the overall process is dominated by the transition from a small black hole to a large black hole. This study filled a research gap of a stochastic process analysis on the issue of the first-order phase transition rate in the AdS black hole.

First-step experiment in developing optical-spring quantum locking for DECIGO: sensitivity optimization for simulated quantum noise by completing the square

DECi-hertz Interferometer Gravitational Wave Observatory (DECIGO) is a future mission for a space-borne laser interferometer. DECIGO has 1,000-km-long arm cavities mainly to detect the primordial gravitational waves (PGW) at lower frequencies around 0.1 Hz. Observations in the electromagnetic spectrum have lowered the bounds on the upper limit of PGW energy density ($Ω_{\rm gw} \sim 10^{-15} \to 10^{-16}$). As a result, DECIGO's target sensitivity, which is mainly limited by quantum noise, needs further improvement. To maximize the feasibility of detection while constrained by DECIGO's large diffraction loss, a quantum locking technique with an optical spring was theoretically proposed to improve the signal-to-noise ratio of the PGW. In this paper, we experimentally verify one key element of the optical-spring quantum locking: sensitivity optimization by completing the square of multiple detector outputs. This experiment is operated on a simplified tabletop optical setup with classical noise simulating quantum noise. We succeed in getting the best of the sensitivities with two different laser powers by the square completion method.

Displacement-noise-free interferometeric gravitational-wave detector using unidirectional neutrons with four speeds

For further gravitational wave (GW) detections, it is significant to invent a technique to reduce all kinds of mirror displacement noise dominant at low frequencies for ground-based detectors. The neutron displacement-noise-free interferometer (DFI) is one of the tools to reduce all the mirror displacement noise at lower frequencies. In this paper, we describe a further simplified configuration of a neutron DFI in terms of neutron incidence direction. In the new configuration, neutrons enter the interferometer with unidirectional incidence at four speeds as opposed to two bidirectional incidences of opposite directions at two speeds as reported previously. This simplification of the neutron DFI is significant for proof-of-principle experiments.

BEPHAP: A Blockchain-Based Efficient Privacy-Preserving Handover Authentication Protocol with Key Agreement for Internet of Vehicles

The Internet of Vehicles (IoV) can significantly improve transportation efficiency and ensure traffic safety. Authentication is regarded as the fundamental defense line against attacks in IoV. However, the state-of-the-art approaches suffer from several drawbacks, including bottlenecks of the single cloud server model, high computational overhead of operations, excessive trust in cloud servers and roadside units (RSUs), and leakage of vehicle trajectory privacy. In this paper, BEPHAP, a Blockchain-based Efficient Privacy-preserving Handover Authentication Protocol with key agreement for internet of vehicles, is introduced to address these problems. BEPHAP achieves anonymous cross-domain mutual handover authentication with key agreement based on the tamper-proof blockchain, symmetric cryptography, and the chameleon hash function under a security model that cloud servers and RSUs may launch attacks. BEPHAP is particularly well suited for IoV since it allows vehicles only need to perform lightweight cryptographic operations during the authentication phase. BEPHAP also achieves data confidentiality, unlinkability, traceability, non-repudiation, non-frameability, and key escrow freeness. Formal verification based on ProVerif and formal security proofs based on the BAN logic indicates that BEPHAP is resistant to various typical attacks, such as man-in-the-middle attacks, impersonation attacks, and replay attacks. Performance analysis demonstrates that BEPHAP surpasses existing works in both computation and communication efficiencies. And the message loss rate remains 0 at 5000 requests per second, which meets the requirement of IoV.

Voltage-controlled topological interface states for bending waves in soft dielectric phononic crystal plates

The operating frequency range of passive topological phononic crystals is generally fixed and narrow, limiting their practical applications. To overcome this difficulty, here we design and investigate a one-dimensional soft dielectric phononic crystal (PC) plate system with actively tunable topological interface states via the mechanical and electric loads. We use nonlinear electroelasticity theory and linearized incremental theory to derive the governing equations. First we determine the nonlinear static response of the soft dielectric PC plate subjected to a combination of axial force and electric voltage. Then we study the motion of superimposed incremental bending waves. By adopting the Spectral Element Method, we obtain the dispersion relation for the infinite PC plate and the transmission coefficient for the finite PC plate waveguide. Numerical results show that the low-frequency topological interface state exists at the interface of the finite phononic plate waveguide with two topologically different elements. By simply adjusting the axial force or the electric voltage, an increase or decrease in the frequency of the topological interface state can be realized. Furthermore, applying the electric voltage separately on different elements of the PC plate waveguide is a flexible and smart method to tune the topological interface state in a wide range. These results provide guidance for designing soft smart wave devices with low-frequency tunable topological interface states.

Vibrations and waves in soft dielectric elastomer structures

Dielectric elastomers (DEs) are a type of multifunctional materials with salient features that are very attractive in developing soft, lightweight, and small-scale transducers and robotics. This paper reviews the mechanics of soft DE structures, focusing on their dynamic responses, including vibrations and waves in typical structures. The basic formulations of nonlinear electroelasticity are briefly summarized by following the descriptions of Dorfmann and Ogden. The recent advances in the study on linearized dynamic problems of DE plates and shells are then outlined according to the geometric configurations as well as the coordinates thereof adopted. Some interesting observations from the numerical results are highlighted, and the underlying physics is discussed. For completeness, an account of the nonlinear dynamic characteristics of DE structures is also given. For DE structures with a periodic arrangement, i.e., DE phononic crystals (PCs) or metamaterials, this paper reviews the designs, solutions, and results to illustrate the wide-range tunability of band structure that is realized by large reversible deformation and electromechanical coupling. The present literature survey could be a useful guide for future studies on the dynamic topics of DE structures.

General non-linear imitation leads to limit cycles in eco-evolutionary dynamics

Eco-evolutionary dynamics is crucial to understand how individuals' behaviors and the surrounding environment interplay with each other. Typically, it is assumed that individuals update their behaviors via linear imitation function, i.e., the replicator dynamics. It has been proved that there cannot be limit circles in such eco-evolutionary dynamics. It suggests that eco-evolutionary dynamics alone is not sufficient to explain the widely observed fluctuating behavior in both the biological and social systems. We extrapolate from the linear imitation function to general imitation function, which can be non-linear. It is shown that the general imitation does not change the internal equilibrium and its local stability. It however leads to limit cycles, which are never present in classical eco-evolutionary dynamics. Moreover, the average cooperation level and average environment state agree with the first and the second component of the internal fixed point. Furthermore, we estimate the location of the emergent limit cycle. On the one hand, our results provide an alternative mechanism to make cooperators and defectors coexist in a periodic way in the "tragedy of the commons" and indicates the global eco-evolutionary dynamics is sensitive to the imitation function. Our work indicates that the way of imitation, i.e., the imitation function, is crucial in eco-evolutionary dynamics, which is not true for evolutionary dynamics with a static environment.

Thermodynamic geometry of the RN-AdS black hole and non-local observables

In this paper, we show the relation between the thermodynamic geometry of a four-dimensional Reissner-Nordstrom-AdS (RN-AdS) black hole and non-local observables in boundary field theory. Instead of introducing the critical point associating with the black hole charge to nondimensionalize the thermodynamics parameters, we use the cosmological constant to rescale these variables, so that a universal specific equation of state of the black hole is obtained. Further, the correspondence between thermodynamic properties of the black hole and the oscillating behaviors of the non-local observables has been studied numerically. Our results indicate that the study of the dual field theory will reveal to us the thermodynamic geometry of the AdS black hole.

Ruppeiner geometry and the fluctuation of the RN-AdS black hole in framework of the extensive thermodynamics

The Ruppeiner geometry and the fluctuation for a four-dimensional charged AdS black hole in the framework of the extensive thermodynamics have been investigated. By fixing the AdS radius of Vissers construction, the extensive thermodynamics of the RN-AdS black hole is established, and the central charge plays the role of particle number. With the thermodynamic variables density, we reexamine the phase transition of the black hole, and the result will hold for the black holes under different gravitational models. Moreover, we have studied the Ruppeiner geometry and the black hole fluctuation, and show that the increase of central charge will reduce the fluctuation probability.

Thermalization of gluons in spatially homogeneous systems

We investigate thermalization of gluons in spatially homogeneous systems using the Boltzmann equation in diffusion approximation. A complete picture on thermalization is obtained for both initially under- and over-populated systems. In an initially under-populated system, we find that its soft sector undergoes three stages: overheating, cooling/overcooling and reheating before full thermalization is achieved. In an initially over-populated system, we find that its soft sector only undergoes two stages towards full thermalization: overheating and cooling. The cooling stage is consistently driven by momentum broadening due to multiple elastic collisions, manifest as a non-thermal scaling solution.
