Strong Deformation Effects in Hot Rotating 46Ti

Exotic-deformation effects in 46Ti nucleus were investigated by analysing the high-energy gamma-ray and the alpha-particle energy spectra. One of the experiments was performed using the charged-particle multi-detector array ICARE together with a large volume (4"x4") BGO detector. The study focused on simultaneous measurement of light charged particles and gamma-rays in coincidence with the evaporation residues. The experimental data show a signature of very large deformations of the compound nucleus in the Jacobi transition region at the highest spins. These results are compared to data from previous experiments performed with the HECTOR array coupled to the EUROBALL array, where it was found that the GDR strength function is highly fragmented, strongly indicating a presence of nuclei with very large deformation.

Deformation Effects in Hot Rotating 46Ti Probed by the Charged Particle Emission and GDR gamma-Decay

The 46Ti* compound nucleus, as populated by the fusion-evaporation reaction 27Al+19F at the bombarding energy of E_lab=144 MeV, has been investigated by charged particle spectroscopy using the multidetector array ICARE at the VIVITRON tandem facility of the IReS (Strasbourg). The light charged particles and high-energy gamma-rays from the GDR decay have been measured in coincidence with selected evaporation residues. The CACARIZO code, a Monte Carlo implementation of the statistical-model code CASCADE, has been used to calculate the spectral shapes of evaporated alpha-particles which are compared with the experimental coincident spectra. This comparison indicates the signature of large deformations (possibly superdeformed and hyperdeformed shapes) present in the compound nucleus decay. The occurrence of the Jacobi shape transition is also discussed in the framework of a newly developed rotating liquid drop model.

Jacobi Structures in $\mathbb{R}^3$

The most general Jacobi brackets in $\mathbb{R}^3$ are constructed after solving the equations imposed by the Jacobi identity. Two classes of Jacobi brackets were identified, according to the rank of the Jacobi structures. The associated Hamiltonian vector fields are also constructed.

On the Integrability and Chaos of an N=2 Maxwell-Chern-Simons-Higgs Mechanical Model

We apply different integrability analysis procedures to a reduced (spatially homogeneous) mechanical system derived from an off-shell non-minimally coupled N=2 Maxwell-Chern-Simons-Higgs model that presents BPS topological vortex excitations, numerically obtained with an ansatz adopted in a special - critical coupling - parametric regime. As a counterpart of the regularity associated to the static soliton-like solution, we investigate the possibility of chaotic dynamics in the evolution of the spatially homogeneous reduced system, descendant from the full N=2 model under consideration. The originally rich content of symmetries and interactions, N=2 susy and non-minimal coupling, singles out the proposed model as an interesting framework for the investigation of the role played by (super-)symmetries and parametric domains in the triggering/control of chaotic behavior in gauge systems. After writing down effective Lagrangian and Hamiltonian functions, and establishing the corresponding canonical Hamilton equations, we apply global integrability Noether point symmetries and Painleveproperty criteria to both the general and the critical coupling regimes. As a non-integrable character is detected by the pair of analytical criteria applied, we perform suitable numerical simulations, as we seek for chaotic patterns in the system evolution. Finally, we present some Comments on the results and perspectives for further investigations and forthcoming communications.

How does breakup influence near-barrier fusion of weakly bound light nuclei ?

The influence on the fusion process of coupling to collective degrees of freedom has been explored. The significant enhancement of he fusion cross setion at sub-barrier energies was understood in terms of the dynamical processes arising from strong couplings to collective inelastic excitations of the target and projectile. However, in the case of reactions where breakup becomes an important process, conflicing model predictions and experimental results have been reported in the literature. Excitation functions for sub- and near-barrier total (complete + incomplete) fusion cross sections have been measured for the $^{6,7}$Li + $^{59}$Co at the Vivitron facility and at the 8UD Pelletron tandem facility using standard $γ$-ray techniques. The data extend to medium-mass systems previous works exploring the coupling effects in fusion reactions of both lighter and heavier systems. Results of continuum-discretized coupled channel (CDCC) calculations indicate a small enhancement of total fusion for the more weakly bound $^{6}$Li at sub-barrier energies, with similar cross sections for both reactions at and above the barrier. A systematic study of $^{4,6}$He induced fusion reactions with the CDCC method is in progress. The understanding of the reaction dynamics involving couplings to the breakup channels requires th explicit measurement of precise elastic scattering data as well as yields leading to the breakup itself. Recent coincidence experiments for $^{6,7}$Li + $^{59}$Co are addressing this issue. The particle identification of the breakup products have been achieved by measuring the three-body final-state correlations.

Modified Zakharov equations for plasmas with a quantum correction

Quantum Zakharov equations are obtained to describe the nonlinear interaction between quantum Langmuir waves and quantum ion-acoustic waves. These quantum Zakharov equations are applied to two model cases, namely the four-wave interaction and the decay instability. In the case of the four-wave instability, sufficiently large quantum effects tend to suppress the instability. For the decay instability, the quantum Zakharov equations lead to results similar to those of the classical decay instability except for quantum correction terms in the dispersion relations. Some considerations regarding the nonlinear aspects of the quantum Zakharov equations are also offered.

Stochastic Quantization of the Time-Dependent Harmonic Oscillator

We extend the stochastic quantization method recently developed by Haba and Kleinert to non-autonomous mechanical systems, in the case of the time-dependent harmonic oscillator. In comparison with the autonomous case, the quantization procedure involves the solution of a nonlinear, auxiliary equation.

Lie Point Symmetries for Reduced Ermakov Systems

Reduced Ermakov systems are defined as Ermakov systems restricted to the level surfaces of the Ermakov invariant. The condition for Lie point symmetries for reduced Ermakov systems is solved yielding four infinite families of systems. It is shown that SL(2,R) always is a group of point symmetries for the reduced Ermakov systems. The theory is applied to a model example and to the equations of motion of an ion under a generalized Paul trap.

Search for pairing-vibration states of even Ca isotopes in $^{40}$Ca+$^{208}$Pb transfer reactions

Multi-nucleon transfer reactions in $^{40}$Ca+$^{208}$Pb have been studied at several bombarding energies close to the Coulomb barrier. Light reaction products have been identified in mass and charge with a time-of-flight spectrometer. The energy spectra of the inclusive two neutron pick-up channel show a population in a narrow region of excitation energies which corresponds to the predicted energy of pairing vibration states in $^{42}$Ca.

Search for 12C+12C molecule in 24Mg* populated by 24Mg+12C

The gamma-decay properties of 24Mg excited states are investigated in the inverse reaction 24Mg+12C at E(24Mg) = 130 MeV. At this energy the direct inelastic scattering populates a 24Mg* energy region where 12C+12C breakup resonances can occur. Very exclusive data were collected with the Binary Reaction Spectrometer (BRS) in coincidence with EUROBALL installed at the VIVITRON Tandem facility of the IReS at Strasbourg. The experimental detection system is decribed and preliminary results of binary reaction coincid data are presented.

Large Deformation Effects in the N = Z 44Ti Compound Nucleus

The N = Z 44Ti* nucleus has been populated in Fusion Evaporation process at very high excitation energies and angular momenta using two entrance channels with different mass-asymmetry. The deformation effects in the rapidly rotating nuclei have been investigated through the energy distribution of the alpha-particle combined to statistical-model calculations. In the case of low-multiplicity events, the ratio between first particle emitted has been measured and shows significant disagreement with the predictions of the statistical-model. This may explain The large discrepancies observed in proton energy spectra measured in previous experiments performed in the same mass region.

Macroscopic quantum superpositions in highly-excited strongly-interacting many-body systems

We demonstrate a break-down in the macroscopic (classical-like) dynamics of wave-packets in complex microscopic and mesoscopic collisions. This break-down manifests itself in coherent superpositions of the rotating clockwise and anticlockwise wave-packets in the regime of strongly overlapping many-body resonances of the highly-excited intermediate complex. These superpositions involve $\sim 10^4$ many-body configurations so that their internal interactive complexity dramatically exceeds all of those previously discussed and experimentally realized. The interference fringes persist over a time-interval much longer than the energy relaxation-redistribution time due to the anomalously slow phase randomization (dephasing). Experimental verification of the effect is proposed.

Noether symmetries for charged particle motion under a magnetic monopole and general electric fields

The search for Noether point symmetries for non-relativistic charged particle motion is reduced to the solution for a set of two coupled, linear partial differential equations for the electromagnetic field. These equations are completely solved when the magnetic field is produced by a fixed magnetic monopole. The result is applied to central electric field cases, in particular to the time-dependent monopole-oscillator problem. As an additional example of the theory, we found all Noether point symmetries and invariants for a constant magnetic field and a time-dependent harmonic electric field with a forcing term.

On the generalized Hamiltonian structure of 3D dynamical systems

The Poisson structures for 3D systems possessing one constant of motion can always be constructed from the solution of a linear PDE. When two constants of the motion are available the problem reduces to a quadrature and the structure functions include an arbitrary function of them.

Dynamical symmetries and the Ermakov invariant

Ermakov systems possessing Noether point symmetry are identified among the Ermakov systems that derive from a Lagrangian formalism and, the Ermakov invariant is shown to result from an associated symmetry of dynamical character. The Ermakov invariant and the associated Noether invariant, are sufficient to reduce these systems to quadratures.

On the Lie symmetries of a class of generalized Ermakov systems

The symmetry analysis of Ermakov systems is extended to the generalized case where the frequency depends on the dynamical variables besides time. In this extended framework, a whole class of nonlinearly coupled oscillators are viewed as Hamiltonian Ermakov system and exactly solved in closed form.

On the Hamiltonian structure of Ermakov systems

A canonical Hamiltonian formalism is derived for a class of Ermakov systems specified by several different frequency functions. This class of systems comprises all known cases of Hamiltonian Ermakov systems and can always be reduced to quadratures. The Hamiltonian structure is explored to find exact solutions for the Calogero system and for a noncentral potential with dynamic symmetry. Some generalizations of these systems possessing exact solutions are also identified and solved.
