Tetra- and penta-quark structures in the constituent quark model

With the development of high energy physics experiments, a large amount of exotic states in the hadronic sector have been observed. In order to shed some insights on the nature of the tetraquark and pentaquark candidates, a constituent quark model, along with the gaussian expansion method, has been employed systematically in the real- and complex-range investigations. We review herein the double- and full-heavy tetraquarks, but also the hidden-charm, -bottom and doubly charmed pentaquarks. Several experimentally observed exotic hadrons are well reproduced within our approach; moreover, their possible compositeness are suggested and other properties analyzed accordingly such as their decay widths and general patterns in the spectrum. Besides, we report also some predictions not yet seen by experiment within the studied tetraquark and pentaquark sectors.

Reconfigurable Intelligent Surface Empowered Device-to-Device Communication Underlaying Cellular Networks

Reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS) is a new and revolutionary technology to achieve spectrum-, energy- and cost-efficient wireless networks. This paper studies the resource allocation for RIS-empowered device-to-device (D2D) communication underlaying a cellular network, in which an RIS is employed to enhance desired signals and suppress interference between paired D2D and cellular links. We maximize the overall network's spectrum efficiency (SE) (i.e., sum rate of D2D users and cellular users) and energy efficiency (EE), respectively, by jointly optimizing the resource reuse indicators, the transmit power and the RIS's passive beamforming, under the signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio constraints and other practical constraints. To solve the non-convex problems, we first propose an efficient user-pairing scheme based on relative channel strength to determine the resource reuse indicators. Then, the transmit power and the RIS's passive beamforming are jointly optimized to maximize the SE by a proposed iterative algorithm, based on the techniques of alternating optimization, successive convex approximation, Lagrangian dual transform and quadratic transform. Moreover, the EE-maximization problem is solved by an alternating algorithm integrated with Dinkelbach's method. Also, the convergence and complexity of both algorithms are analyzed. Numerical results show that the proposed design achieves significant SE and EE enhancements compared to traditional underlaying D2D network without RIS and other benchmarks.

$QQ\bar{s}\bar{s}$ tetraquarks in the chiral quark model

The low-lying $S$-wave $QQ\bar{s}\bar{s}$ ($Q=c, b$) tetraquark states with $IJ^P=00^+$, $01^+$ and $02^+$ are systematically investigated in the framework of complex scaling range of chiral quark model. Every structure including meson-meson, diquark-antidiquark and K-type configurations, and all possible color channels in four-body sector are considered by means of a commonly extended variational approach, Gaussian expansion method. Several narrow and wide resonance states are obtained for $cc\bar{s}\bar{s}$ and $bb\bar{s}\bar{s}$ tetraquarks with $IJ^P=00^+$ and $02^+$. Meanwhile, narrow resonances for $cb\bar{s}\bar{s}$ tetraquarks are also found in $IJ^P=00^+$, $01^+$ and $02^+$ states. These results confirm the possibility of finding hadronic molecules with masses $\sim\,0.6\,\text{GeV}$ above the noninteracting hadron-hadron thresholds.

Feature Re-Learning with Data Augmentation for Video Relevance Prediction

Predicting the relevance between two given videos with respect to their visual content is a key component for content-based video recommendation and retrieval. Thanks to the increasing availability of pre-trained image and video convolutional neural network models, deep visual features are widely used for video content representation. However, as how two videos are relevant is task-dependent, such off-the-shelf features are not always optimal for all tasks. Moreover, due to varied concerns including copyright, privacy and security, one might have access to only pre-computed video features rather than original videos. We propose in this paper feature re-learning for improving video relevance prediction, with no need of revisiting the original video content. In particular, re-learning is realized by projecting a given deep feature into a new space by an affine transformation. We optimize the re-learning process by a novel negative-enhanced triplet ranking loss. In order to generate more training data, we propose a new data augmentation strategy which works directly on frame-level and video-level features. Extensive experiments in the context of the Hulu Content-based Video Relevance Prediction Challenge 2018 justify the effectiveness of the proposed method and its state-of-the-art performance for content-based video relevance prediction.

Two-Loop QCD Corrections to the Higgs plus three-parton amplitudes with Top Mass Correction

We obtain the two-loop QCD corrections to the Higgs plus three-parton amplitudes with dimension-seven operators in Higgs effective field theory. This provides the two-loop S-matrix elements for Higgs plus one-jet production at the LHC with top-mass correction. We apply efficient unitarity plus IBP methods which are described in detail. We also study the color decomposition of the fermion cuts and find a connection between fundamental and adjoint representations which can be used to reduce non-planar to planar unitarity cuts in the Higgs to three-gluon amplitudes. We obtain final results in simple analytic form which exhibits intriguing hidden structures. The principle of maximal transcendentality is found to be satisfied for all results. The lower transcendentality parts also contain universal building blocks and can be written in compact analytic form, suggesting further hidden structures.

Doubly Charmed Pentaquarks

The LHCb Collaboration, using its full data set from runs $1$ and $2$, announced in $2019$ a surprising update of the hidden-charm pentaquark states $P_c(4380)^+$ and $P_c(4450)^+$, observed in 2015. A new state, $P_c(4312)^+$, was clearly seen at lower energies; furthermore, the original $P_c(4450)$ resonance was resolved into two individual states, named the $P_c(4440)^+$ and the $P_c(4457)^+$. Motivated by the fact that these new hidden-charm pentaquark states were successfully predicted by our chiral quark model, we extend herein such study to the doubly charmed sector. The analyzed total spin and parity quantum numbers are $J^P=\frac12^-$, $\frac32^-$ and $\frac52^-$, in the $I=\frac12$ and $\frac32$ isospin channels. We find several possible narrow baryon-meson resonances (theoretical masses in parenthesis): $IJ^P = \frac12 \frac12^-$ $Σ_c D(4356)$, $\frac12 \frac32^-$ $Σ^*_c D(4449)$, $\frac32 \frac12^-$ $Σ_c D(4431)$, $\frac32 \frac12^-$ $Σ_c D(4446)$, $\frac32 \frac32^-$ $Σ_c D^*(4514)$ and $\frac32 \frac52^-$ $Ξ^*_{cc} ρ(4461)$ whose widths are $4.8$, $8.0$, $2.6$, $2.2$, $4.0$ and $3.0\,\text{MeV}$, respectively. Moreover, one shallow bound-state is found, too, with quantum numbers $IJ^P = \frac12 \frac32^-$ $Ξ^*_{cc} π(3757)$. These doubly charmed pentaquark states are expected to be identified in future experiments.

Hidden Analytic Relations for Two-Loop Higgs Amplitudes in QCD

We compute the Higgs plus two-quark and one-gluon amplitudes ($H \rightarrow q \bar{q} g$) and Higgs plus three-gluon amplitudes ($H \rightarrow 3g$) in the Higgs effective theory with a general class of operators. By changing the quadratic Casimir $C_F$ to $C_A$, the maximally transcendental parts of the $H \rightarrow q \bar{q} g$ amplitudes turn out to be equivalent to that of the $H \rightarrow 3g$ amplitudes, which also coincide with the counterparts in ${\cal N}=4$ SYM. This generalizes the so-called maximal transcendentality principle to the Higgs amplitudes with external quark states, thus to the full QCD theory. We further verify that the correspondence applies also to two-loop form factors of more general operators, in both QCD and scalar-YM theory. Another interesting relation is also observed between the planar $H \rightarrow q \bar{q} g$ amplitudes and the minimal density form factors in ${\cal N}=4$ SYM.

On-shell Methods for Form Factors in N=4 SYM and Their Applications

Form factors are quantities that involve both asymptotic on-shell states and gauge invariant operators. They provide a natural bridge between on-shell amplitudes and off-shell correlation functions of operators, thus allowing us to use modern on-shell amplitude techniques to probe into the off-shell side of quantum field theory. In particular, form factors have been successfully used in computing the cusp (soft) anomalous dimensions and anomalous dimensions of general local operators. This review is intended to provide a pedagogical introduction to some of these developments. We will first review some amplitudes background using four-point amplitudes as main examples. Then we generalize these techniques to form factors, including (1) tree-level form factors, (2) Sudakov form factor and infrared singularities, and (3) form factors of general operators and their anomalous dimensions. Although most examples we consider are in N=4 super-Yang-Mill theory, the on-shell methods are universal and are expected to be applicable to general gauge theories.

The Four-Loop Cusp Anomalous Dimension from the $\mathcal{N} = 4$ Sudakov Form Factor

We present an analytic derivation of the full four-loop cusp anomalous dimension of $\mathcal{N}=4$ supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory from the Sudakov form factor. To extract the cusp anomalous dimension, we calculate the $ε^{-2}$ pole of the form factor using parametric integrations of finite integrals. We provide uniformly transcendental results for the master integrals through to weight six and confirm a very recent independent analytic result for the full four-loop cusp anomalous dimension of the $\mathcal{N}=4$ model.

Intelligent Reflecting Surface Assisted Non-Orthogonal Multiple Access

Intelligent reflecting surface (IRS) is a new and disruptive technology to achieve spectrum- and energy-efficient as well as cost-efficient wireless networks. This paper considers an IRS-assisted downlink non-orthogonal-multiple-access (NOMA) system. To optimize the rate performance and ensure user fairness, we maximize the minimum decoding signal-to-interference-plus-noise-ratio (i.e., equivalently the rate) of all users, by jointly optimizing the (active) transmit beamforming at the base station (BS) and the phase shifts (i.e., passive beamforming) at the IRS. A combined-channel-strength based user ordering scheme is first proposed to decouple the user-ordering design and the joint beamforming design. Efficient algorithms are further proposed to solve the formulated non-convex problem for the cases of a single-antenna BS and a multi-antenna BS, respectively, by leveraging the block coordinated decent and semidefinite relaxation (SDR) techniques. For the single-antenna BS case, the optimal solution for the power allocation at the BS and the asymptotically optimal solution for the phase shifts at the IRS are obtained in closed forms. For the multi-antenna BS case, it is shown that the rank of the SDR solution to the transmit beamforming design is upper bounded by two. Also, the convergence proof and the complexity analysis are given for the proposed algorithms. Simulation results show that the IRS-assisted downlink NOMA system can enhance the rate performance significantly, compared to traditional NOMA without IRS and traditional orthogonal multiple access with/without IRS. In addition, numerical results demonstrate that the rate degradation due to the IRS's finite phase resolution is slight, and good rate fairness among users can be always guaranteed.

Hidden Analytic Structure of Higgs Amplitudes and Maximal Transcendentality Principle

We present the computation of two-loop Higgs plus three-parton amplitudes with dimension-seven operators in Higgs effective field theory. The computation is based on the combination of unitarity cut and integration by parts methods in an unconventional way. The analytic results take remarkably simple form. In particular, the results show that the QCD and N=4 SYM results share the same leading transcendental parts. This generalizes the so-call maximal transcendentality principle to the Higgs amplitudes with high dimension operators and also with fundamental external quark states. Further simplicity also exists in lower transcendental parts, suggesting hidden structures beyond maximal transcendentality.

Hierarchical Attention Networks for Medical Image Segmentation

The medical image is characterized by the inter-class indistinction, high variability, and noise, where the recognition of pixels is challenging. Unlike previous self-attention based methods that capture context information from one level, we reformulate the self-attention mechanism from the view of the high-order graph and propose a novel method, namely Hierarchical Attention Network (HANet), to address the problem of medical image segmentation. Concretely, an HA module embedded in the HANet captures context information from neighbors of multiple levels, where these neighbors are extracted from the high-order graph. In the high-order graph, there will be an edge between two nodes only if the correlation between them is high enough, which naturally reduces the noisy attention information caused by the inter-class indistinction. The proposed HA module is robust to the variance of input and can be flexibly inserted into the existing convolution neural networks. We conduct experiments on three medical image segmentation tasks including optic disc/cup segmentation, blood vessel segmentation, and lung segmentation. Extensive results show our method is more effective and robust than the existing state-of-the-art methods.

Automatically Generating Macro Research Reports from a Piece of News

Automatically generating macro research reports from economic news is an important yet challenging task. As we all know, it requires the macro analysts to write such reports within a short period of time after the important economic news are released. This motivates our work, i.e., using AI techniques to save manual cost. The goal of the proposed system is to generate macro research reports as the draft for macro analysts. Essentially, the core challenge is the long text generation issue. To address this issue, we propose a novel deep learning technique based approach which includes two components, i.e., outline generation and macro research report generation. For the model performance evaluation, we first crawl a large news-to-report dataset and then evaluate our approach on this dataset, and the generated reports are given for the subjective evaluation.

Energy-Efficient UAV Backscatter Communication with Joint Trajectory Design and Resource Optimization

Backscatter communication which enables wireless-powered backscatter devices (BDs) to transmit information by reflecting incident signals, is an energy- and cost-efficient communication technology for Internet-of-Things. This paper considers an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV)-assisted backscatter communication network (UBCN) consisting of multiple BDs and carrier emitters (CEs) on the ground as well as a UAV. A communicate-while-fly scheme is first designed, in which the BDs illuminated by their associated CEs transmit information to the flying UAV in a time-division-multiple-access manner. Considering the critical issue of the UAV's limited on-board energy and the CEs' transmission energy, we maximize the energy efficiency (EE) of the UBCN by jointly optimizing the UAV's trajectory, the BDs' scheduling, and the CEs' transmission power, subject to the BDs' throughput constraints and harvested energy constraints, as well as other practical constraints. Furthermore, we propose an iterative algorithm based on the block coordinated decent method to solve the formulated mixed-integer non-convex problem, in each iteration of which the variables are alternatively optimized by leveraging the cutting-plane technique, the Dinkelbach's method and the successive convex approximation technique. Also, the convergence and complexity of the proposed algorithm are analyzed. Finally, simulation results show that the proposed communicate-while-fly scheme achieves significant EE gains compared with the benchmark hover-and-fly scheme. Useful insights on the optimal trajectory design and resource allocation are also obtained.

Doubly-heavy tetraquarks

In the framework of the chiral quark model along with complex scaling range, we perform a dynamical study on the low-lying $S$-wave doubly-heavy tetraquark states ($QQ\bar{q}\bar{q}$, $Q=c, b$ and $q=u, d$) with an accurate computing approach, Gaussian expansion method. The meson-meson and diquark-antidiquark configurations within all possible color structures for spin-parity quantum numbers $J^P=0^+$, $1^+$ and $2^+$, and in the $0$ and $1$ isospin sectors are considered. Possible tightly bound and narrow resonance states are obtained for doubly-charm and doubly-bottom tetraquarks with $IJ^P=01^+$, and these exotic states are also obtained in charm-bottom tetraquarks with $00^+$ and $01^+$ quantum numbers. Only loosely bound state is found in charm-bottom tetraquarks of $02^+$ states. All of these bound states within meson-meson configurations are loosely bound whether in color-singlet channels or coupling to hidden-color ones. However compact structures are available in diquark-antidiquark channels except for charm-bottom tetraquarks in $02^+$ states.

Triply-heavy baryons in a constituent quark model

A constituent quark model, which has recently been successfully applied to the study of heavy quarkonium properties such as its spectrum but also a diverse array of observables related with their electromagnetic, strong and weak decays and reactions, is used herein to compute ground- and excited-state masses of $QQQ$-baryons containing either $c$- or $b$-quarks. Considering the lack of experimental information about the spectra of triply-heavy baryons, we believe that our computation could help on finding new states, since it is expected that phenomenological quark models describe triply-heavy baryons to a similar degree of accuracy as heavy quarkonia. The quark model parameters previously used to describe $c\bar c$ and $b\bar b$ properties have not been modified for this analysis. The non-relativistic three-body bound-state problem is solved by means of the Gaußian expansion method which provides enough accuracy and simplifies the subsequent evaluation of the matrix elements. Several low-lying states with quantum numbers $J^P=\frac{1}{2}^{\pm}$, $\frac{3}{2}^{\pm}$, $\frac{5}{2}^{\pm}$ and $\frac{7}{2}^+$ are reported. We compare our results with those predicted by many other theoretical formalisms. There is a general trend of agreement about the mass of the ground state in each sector of triply-heavy baryons; however, the situation is more puzzling for the excited states and thus appropriate comments on the most relevant features of our comparison are given.

On interpolating anomalous dimension of twist-two operators with general spins

We study non-perturbative interpolating functions to probe the physics of anomalous dimensions associated with twist-two operators in ${\cal N}=4$ SYM of finite and infinite spin. Compared to previous studies, the novel result of this paper is to introduce single multivariate functions of both coupling $g$ and spin $j$ to approximate such anomalous dimensions. We provide a unified framework to study such operators in interim ranges of the parameters which so far has eluded previous results. Explicitly, we consider twist-two anomalous dimensions in two distinct scenarios using interpolating functions. For the large $N$ case, we stick to simple Padé approximants and its generalizations . For the finite $N$ case, ${\cal N}=4$ SYM is expected to be S-dual invariant, hence the observables are expected be modular invariant. To probe the finite $N$ physics, we take into account the non-planar and instanton contributions by constructing modular invariant interpolating functions to approximate the cusp and twist-two anomalous dimensions. We also consider interpolating functions for the twist-four operators and study level crossing phenomenon between the twist-two and twist-four operators.

Dual Encoding for Zero-Example Video Retrieval

This paper attacks the challenging problem of zero-example video retrieval. In such a retrieval paradigm, an end user searches for unlabeled videos by ad-hoc queries described in natural language text with no visual example provided. Given videos as sequences of frames and queries as sequences of words, an effective sequence-to-sequence cross-modal matching is required. The majority of existing methods are concept based, extracting relevant concepts from queries and videos and accordingly establishing associations between the two modalities. In contrast, this paper takes a concept-free approach, proposing a dual deep encoding network that encodes videos and queries into powerful dense representations of their own. Dual encoding is conceptually simple, practically effective and end-to-end. As experiments on three benchmarks, i.e. MSR-VTT, TRECVID 2016 and 2017 Ad-hoc Video Search show, the proposed solution establishes a new state-of-the-art for zero-example video retrieval.
