Polarization effects in Kerr black hole shadow due to the coupling between photon and bumblebee field

We present firstly the equation of motion for the photon coupled to a special bumblebee vector field in a Kerr black hole spacetime and find that the propagation of light depends on its polarization due to the birefringence phenomenon. The dependence of black hole shadow on the light's polarization is dominated by the rotation of black hole. In the non-rotating case, we find that the black hole shadow is independent of the polarization of light. However, the status is changed in the rotating case, in which the black hole shadow depends on the light's polarization and the coupling between bumblebee vector field and electromagnetic field. These features of black hole shadow casted by polarized lights could help us to understand the bumblebee vector field with Lorentz symmetry breaking and its interaction with electromagnetic field.

Shadow of a Schwarzschild black hole surrounded by a Bach-Weyl ring

We have studied the shadows of a Schwarzschild black hole surrounded by a Bach-Weyl ring through the backward ray-tracing method. The presence of Bach-Weyl ring leads to that the photon dynamical system is non-integrable and then chaos would appear in the photon motion, which affects sharply the black hole shadow. The size and shape the black hole shadow depend on the black hole parameter, the Bach-Weyl ring mass and the Weyl radius between black hole and ring. Some self-similar fractal structures also appear in the black hole shadow, which originates from the chaotic lensing. We also study the change of the image of Bach-Weyl ring with the ring mass and the Weyl radius. Finally, we analyze the invariant manifolds of Lyapunov orbits near the fixed points and discuss further the formation of the shadow of a Schwarzschild black hole with Bach-Weyl ring.

Thermal chaos of a charged dilaton-AdS black hole in the extended phase space

We have studied thermal chaotic behavior in the extended phase space for a charged dilaton-AdS black hole by Melnikov method and present the effect of dilaton parameter on the thermal chaos. Our result show that for the temporal perturbation the thermal chaos in the charged dilaton-AdS black hole occurs only if the perturbation amplitude is larger than certain a critical value, but for the spatially perturbation, the chaos always exists irrespective of perturbation amplitude. These behaviors are similar to those in other AdS black hole, which can be regarded as the common features of the static AdS black holes. Moreover, we also find that the critical temporal perturbation amplitude leading to chaos increases with the dilaton parameter and decreases with the charge. This means that under the temporal perturbation the presence of dilaton parameter makes the onset of chaos more difficult, which differs from that of the charge parameter.

Backreacting holographic superconductors from the coupling of a scalar field to the Einstein tensor

We investigate the properties of the backreacting holographic superconductors from the coupling of a scalar field to the Einstein tensor in the background of a d-dimensional AdS black hole. Imposing the Dirichlet boundary condition of the trial function without the Neumann boundary conditions, we improve the analytical Sturm-Liouville method with an iterative procedure to explore the pure effect of the Einstein tensor on the holographic superconductors and find that the Einstein tensor hinders the condensate of the scalar field but does not affect the critical phenomena. Our analytical findings are in very good agreement with the numerical results from the "marginally stable modes" method, which implies that the Sturm-Liouville method is still powerful to study the holographic superconductors from the coupling of a scalar field to the Einstein tensor even if we consider the backreactions.

Holographic p-wave superfluid in the AdS soliton background with $RF^{2}$ corrections

We investigate the holographic p-wave superfluid in the background metric of the AdS soliton with $RF^{2}$ corrections. Two models, namely, the Maxwell complex vector field model and Yang-Mills theory, are studied in the above context by employing the Sturm-Liouville approach as well as the shooting method. When turning on the spatial components of the gauge field, one observes that, in the probe limit, the inclusion of $RF^{2}$ corrections hinders the superfluid phase transition. On the other hand, however, in the absence of the superfluid velocity, it is found that the $RF^2$ corrections lead to distinct effects for the two models. Regardless of either the $RF^2$ correction or the spatial component of the gauge field, the phase transition of the system is observed to be always of the second order. Moreover, a linear relationship between the charge density and chemical potential is largely established near the critical point in both holographic superfluid models.

Estimating the Unruh effect via entangled many-body probes

We study the estimation of parameters in a quantum metrology scheme based on entangled many-body Unruh-DeWitt detectors. It is found that the precision for the estimation of Unruh effect can be enhanced via initial state preparations and parameter selections. It is shown that the precision in the estimation of the Unruh temperature in terms of a many-body-probe metrology is always better than the precision in two probe strategies. The proper acceleration for Bob's detector and the interaction between the accelerated detector and the external field have significant influences on the precision for the Unruh effect's estimation. In addition, the probe state prepared with more excited atoms in the initial state is found to perform better than less excited initial states. However, different from the estimation of the Unruh temperature, the estimation of the effective coupling parameter for the accelerated detector requires more total atoms but less excited atoms in the estimations.

Quantum steering for continuous variable in de Sitter space

We study the distribution of quantum steerability for continuous variables between two causally disconnected open charts in de Sitter space. It is shown that quantum steerability suffers from "sudden death" in de Sitter space, which is quite different from the behaviors of entanglement and discord because the latter always survives and the former vanishes only in the limit of infinite curvature. In addition, we find that the attainment of maximal steerability asymmetry indicates a transition between unidirectional steerable and bidirectional steerable. Unlike in the flat space, the asymmetry of quantum steerability can be completely destroyed in the limit of infinite curvature for the conformal and massless scalar fields in de Sitter space.

Periodic orbits around Kerr Sen black holes

We investigate periodic orbits and zoom-whirl behaviors around a Kerr Sen black hole with a rational number $q$ in terms of three integers $(z,w,v)$, from which one can immediately read off the number of leaves(or zooms), the ordering of the leaves, and the number of whirls. The characteristic of zoom-whirl periodic orbits is the precession of multi-leaf orbits in the strong field regime. This feature is analogous to the counterpart in the Kerr space-time. Finally, we analyze the impact of the charge parameter $b$ on the zoom-whirl periodic orbits. Compared to the periodic orbits around the Kerr black hole, it is found that typically lower energies are required for the same orbits in the Kerr Sen black hole.

Synchronize accelerated clock in a multipartite relativistic quantum system

We perform a protocol for multipartite quantum clock synchronization under the influence of Unruh thermal noise. The clocks consisting of Unruh-DeWitt detectors when one of detectors accelerated is obtained. To estimate the time difference between the clocks, we calculate the time probability and analyze how the probability is influenced by the Unruh thermal noise and other factors. It is shown that both relativistic motion and interaction between the atom and the external scalar field affect the choice of optimal number of excited atoms in the initial state, which leads to a higher clock adjustment accuracy. Time probabilities for different types of initial states approach to the same value in the limit of infinite acceleration, while tend to different minimums with increasing number of atoms. In addition, the accuracy of clock synchronization using a pair of entangled clocks in two-party system is always higher than in an multipartite system, while the optimal $Z$-type multipartite initial state always perform better than the $W$-type state.

Synchronization and estimation of gravity-induced time difference for quantum clocks

It has recently been reported [\textit{PNAS} \textbf{114}, 2303 (2017)] that, under an operational definition of time, quantum clocks would get entangled through gravitational effects. Here we study an alternative scenario: the clocks have different masses and energy gaps, which would produce time difference via gravitational interaction. The proposal of quantum clock synchronization for the gravity-induced time difference is discussed. We illustrate how the stability of measurement probability in the quantum clock synchronization proposal is influenced by the gravitational interaction induced by the clock themselves. It is found that the precision of clock synchronization depends on the energy gaps of the clocks and the improvement of precision in quantum metrology is in fact an indicator of entanglement generation. We also present the quantum enhanced estimation of time difference and find that the quantum Fisher information is very sensitive to the distance between the clocks.

Thin accretion disk around a rotating Kerr-like black hole in Einstein-bumblebee gravity model

We study the accretion process in the thin disk around a rotating Kerr-like black hole in Einstein-bumblebee gravity model where Lorentz symmetry is spontaneously broken once a vector field acquires a vacuum expectation value. In the present paper we obtain the energy flux, the emission spectrum and accretion efficiency from the accretion disks around the rotating Kerr-like black hole, and we compare them to the general Kerr case. These significant features in the mass accretion process may provide a possibility to test whether the Lorentz symmetry is spontaneously broken or not in the Einstein-bumblebee gravity model by future astronomical observations.

Charged Dirac perturbations on Reissner-Nordström-Anti-de Sitter spacetimes: quasinormal modes with Robin boundary conditions

We study charged Dirac quasinormal modes (QNMs) on Reissner-Nordström-Anti-de Sitter (RN-AdS) black holes with generic Robin boundary conditions, by extending our earlier work of neutral Dirac QNMs on Schwarzschild-AdS black holes. We first derive the equations of motion for charged Dirac fields on a RN-AdS background. To solve these equations we impose a requirement on the Dirac field: that its energy flux should vanish at asymptotic infinity. A set of two Robin boundary conditions compatible with QNMs is consequently found. By employing both analytic and numeric methods, we then obtain the quasinormal spectrum for charged Dirac fields, and analyse the impact of various parameters, in particular of electric charge. An analytic calculation shows explicitly that the charge coupling between the black hole and the Dirac field does not trigger superradiant instabilities. Numeric calculations, on the other hand, show quantiatively that Dirac QNMs may change substantially due to the electric charge. Our results illustrate how vanishing energy flux boundary conditions, as a generic principle, are applicable not only to neutral but also to electrically charged fields.

Shadow of a rotating squashed Kaluza-Klein black hole

We study the shadow of a rotating squashed Kaluza-Klein (KK) black hole and the shadow is found to possess distinct properties from those of usual rotating black holes. It is shown that the shadow for a rotating squashed KK black hole is heavily influenced by the specific angular momentum of photon from the fifth dimension. Especially, as the parameters lie in a certain special range, there is no any shadow for a black hole, which does not emerge for the usual black holes. In the case where the black hole shadow exists, the shadow shape is a perfect black disk and its radius decreases with the rotation parameter of the black hole. Moreover, the change of the shadow radius with extra dimension parameter also depends on the rotation parameter of black hole. Finally, with the latest observation data, we estimate the angular radius of the shadow for the supermassive black hole Sgr $A^{*}$ at the centre of the Milky Way galaxy and the supermassive black hole in $M87$.

Effect of system energy on quantum signatures of chaos in the two-photon Dicke model

We have studied entanglement entropy and Husimi $Q$ distribution as a tool to explore chaos in the quantum two-photon Dicke model. With the increase of the energy of system, the linear entanglement entropy of coherent state prepared in the classical chaotic and regular regions become more distinguishable, and the correspondence relationship between the distribution of time-averaged entanglement entropy and the classical Poincaré section has been improved obviously. Moreover, Husimi $Q$ distribution for the initial states corresponded to the points in the chaotic region in the higher energy system disperses more quickly than that in the lower energy system. Our result imply that higher system energy has contributed to distinguish the chaotic and regular behavior in the quantum two-photon Dicke model.

Optimal estimation of parameters for scalar fields in expanding universe exhibiting Lorentz invariance violation

We address the optimal estimation of quantum parameters, in the framework of local quantum estimation theory, for a massive scalar quantum field in the expanding Robertson-Walker universe exhibiting Lorentz invariance violation (LIV). The information about the history of the expanding spacetime in the presence of LIV can be extracted by taking measurements on the entangled state of particle modes. We find that, in the estimation of cosmological parameters, the ultimate bounds to the precision of the Lorentz-invariant massive scalar field can be improved due to the effects of LIV under some appropriate conditions. We also show that, in the Lorentz-invariant massive scalar field and massless scalar field due to LIV backgrounds, the optimal precision can be achieved by choosing the particles with some suitable LIV, cosmological and field parameters. Moreover, in the estimation of LIV parameter during the spacetime expansion, we prove that the appropriate momentum mode of field particles and larger cosmological parameters can provide us a better precision. Particularly, the optimal precision of the parameters estimation can be obtained by performing projective measurements implemented by the projectors onto the eigenvectors of specific probe states.

Electromagnetic emissions from near-horizon region of an extreme Kerr-Taub-Nut black hole

We have studied electromagnetic line emissions from near-horizon region in the extremal Kerr-Taub-NUT black hole spacetime and then probe the effects of NUT charge on the electromagnetic line emissions. Due to the presence of the NUT charge, the equatorial plane is no more a symmetry plane of the KTN spacetime, which leads to that the dependence of electromagnetic line emission on the NUT charge for the observer in the Southern Hemisphere differs from that in the Northern one. Our result indicate that the electromagnetic line emission in the Kerr-Taub-NUT black hole case is brighter than that in the case of Kerr black hole for the observer in the equatorial plane or in the Southern Hemisphere, but it becomes more faint as the observer's position deviates far from the equatorial plane in the Northern one. Moreover, we also probe effects of redshift factor on electromagnetic emission from near-horizon region in the extremal Kerr-Taub-NUT black hole spacetime.

Dynamical evolution of electromagnetic perturbation in the background of a scalar hairy black hole in Horndeski theory

We have investigated dynamical evolution of electromagnetic perturbation in a scalar hairy black hole spacetime, which belongs to solutions in Horndeski theory with a logarithmic cubic term. Our results show that the parameter $α$ affects the existence of event horizon and modifies the asymptotical structure of spacetime at spatial infinity, which imprints on the quasinormal frequency of electromagnetic perturbation. Moreover, we find that the late-time tail of electromagnetic perturbation in this background depends also on the parameter $α$ due to the existence of solid angle deficit. The presence of the parameter $α$ makes the perturbation field decay more rapidly. These imply that the spacetime properties arising from the logarithmic cubic term in the action play important roles in the dynamical evolutions of the electromagnetic perturbation in the background of a scalar hairy black hole.

Generalized superconductors from the coupling of a scalar field to the Einstein tensor and their refractive index in massive gravity

We construct the generalized superconductors from the coupling of a scalar field to the Einstein tensor in the massive gravity and investigate their negative refraction in the probe limit. We observe that the larger graviton mass and Einstein tensor coupling parameters both hinder the formation of the condensation, but the larger graviton mass or smaller coupling parameter makes it easier for the emergence of the Cave of Winds. Furthermore, we see that the larger graviton mass but smaller coupling parameter make the range of frequencies or the range of temperatures larger for which a negative Depine-Lakhtakia index occurs, which indicates that the graviton mass and Einstein tensor have completely different effects on the negative refraction. In addition, we find that the larger graviton mass and coupling parameters both can reduce the dissipation and improve the propagation in the holographic setup.
