Galactic Center gamma-ray excess from two-Higgs-doublet-portal dark matter

We consider a simple extension of the type-II two-Higgs-doublet model by introducing a real scalar as a candidate for dark matter in the present Universe. The main annihilation mode of the dark matter particle with a mass of around $31-40$ GeV is into a $b\bar{b}$ pair, and this annihilation mode suitably explains the observed excess of the gamma-ray flux from the Galactic Center. We identify the parameter region of the model that can fit the gamma-ray excess and satisfy phenomenological constraints, such as the observed dark matter relic density and the null results of direct dark matter search experiments. Most of the parameter region is found to be within the search reach of future direct dark matter detection experiments.

Axion monodromy inflation with multi-natural modulations

We study parameter space in the axion monodromy inflation corrected by dynamically generated terms involving with the axion. The potential has the linear potential with multiple sinusoidal functions, which play a role in generating modulations. We show that this potential leads both to a large tensor-to-scalar ratio $r_T \sim 0.16$ and to a large negative running of spectral index $α_s \sim - (0.02 -0.03)$. To realize these results, a small hierarchy among dynamical scales is required whereas the decay constants in sinusoidal functions remain sub-Planckian in this model. We discuss also reheating process after the inflation in a bottom-up approach.

Axion monodromy inflation with sinusoidal corrections

We study the axion monodromy inflation with a non-perturbatively generated sinusoidal term. The potential form is a mixture between the natural inflation and the axion monodromy inflation potentials. The sinusoidal term is subdominant in the potential, but leaves significant effects on the resultant fluctuation generated during inflation. A larger tensor-to-scalar ratio can be obtained in our model. We study two scenarios, single inflation scenario and the double inflation scenario. In the first scenario, the axion monodromy inflation with a sufficient number of e-fold generates a larger tensor-to-scalar ratio about $0.1 - 0.15$ but also a tiny running of spectral index. In the second scenario of double inflation, axion monodromy inflation is its first stage and, we assume another inflation follows. In this case, our model can realize a larger tensor-to-scalar ratio and a large negative running of spectral index simultaneously.

Phenomenology in supersymmetric neutrinophilic Higgs model with sneutrino dark matter

We study a supersymmetric neutrinophilic Higgs model with large neutrino Yukawa couplings where neutrinos are Dirac particles and the lightest right-handed (RH) sneutrino is the lightest supersymmetric particle (LSP) as a dark matter candidate. Neutrinophilic Higgs bosons need to be rather heavy by the precise determination of the muon decay width and dark radiation constraints for large Yukawa couplings. From the Large Hadron Collider constraints, neutrinophilic Higgsino mass need to be heavier than several hundred GeV or close to the RH sneutrino LSP mass. The latter case is interesting because the muon anomalous magnetic dipole moment can be explained with a relatively large lightest neutrino mass, if RH sneutrino mixings are appropriately fine tuned in order to avoid stringent lepton flavor violation constraints. Dark matter is explained by asymmetric RH sneutrino dark matter in the favoured region by the muon anomalous magnetic dipole moment. In other regions, RH sneutrino could be an usual WIMP dark matter.

X-ray line signal from decaying axino warm dark matter

We consider axino warm dark matter in a supersymmetric axion model with R-parity violation. In this scenario, axino with the mass $m_\axino\simeq 7$ keV can decay into photon and neutrino resulting in the X-ray line signal at $3.5$ keV, which might be the origin of unidentified X-ray emissions from galaxy clusters and Andromeda galaxy detected by the XMM-Newton X-ray observatory.

Polynomial inflation models after BICEP2

Large field inflation models are favored by the recent BICEP2 that has detected gravitational wave modes generated during inflation. We study general large field inflation models for which the potential contains (constant) quadratic and quartic terms of inflaton field. We show, in this framework, those inflation models can generate the fluctuation with the tensor-to-scalar ratio of $0.2$ as well as the scalar spectral index of $0.96$: those are very close to the center value of the tensor-to-scalar ratio reported by BICEP2 as well as Planck. Finally, we briefly discuss the particle physics model building of inflation.

Displaced vertices and long-lived charged particles in the NMSSM with right-handed sneutrinos

We study LHC signatures of displaced vertices and long-lived charged particles within the context of the Next-to-Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model with right-handed (RH) sneutrinos. In this construction the RH neutrino can be produced directly from Higgs decays or in association with a RH sneutrino when the latter is the lightest supersymmetric particle. The RH neutrino is generally long-lived, since its decay width is proportional to the neutrino Yukawa, a parameter which is predicted to be small. The RH neutrino late decay can therefore give rise to displaced vertices at the LHC, which can be identified through the decay products, which involve two leptons (2l+ MET) or a lepton with two jets (ljj). We simulate this signal for the current LHC configuration (a centre of mass of 8 TeV and an integrated luminosity of L=20 fb^-1), and a future one (13 TeV and L=100 fb^-1). We show that a region of the parameter space of this model can be probed and that the RH neutrino mass can be reconstructed from the end-point of the two-lepton invariant mass distribution or the central value of the mass distribution for two jets plus one lepton. Another exotic signature of this construction is the production of a long-lived stau. If the stau is the next-to-lightest supersymmetric particle, it can decay through diagrams involving the small neutrino Yukawa, and would escape the detector leaving a characteristic trail. We also simulate this signal for various benchmark points and show that the model can be within the reach of the future run of the LHC.

Gamma ray emission in Fermi bubbles and Higgs portal dark matter

It has been recently pointed out that the excess of the gamma ray spectrum in the Fermi Bubbles at low latitude can be well explained by the annihilation of dark matter particles. The best-fit candidate corresponds to the annihilation of a dark matter with mass of around $62$ GeV into $b \bar{b}$ with the cross section, $σv \simeq 3.3 \times 10^{-26}$ cm$^3$/s, or the annihilation of a dark matter with mass of around $10$ GeV into a tau lepton pair with the cross section, $σv \simeq 5.6 \times 10^{-27}$ cm$^3$/s. We point out that the Higgs portal dark matter models are perfectly compatible with this interpretation of the dark matter annihilation, satisfying other phenomenological constraints. We also show that the parameter region which reproduces the bet-fit values can be partly explored by the future direct dark matter search at the XENON1T.

Neutrino mass from neutrinophilic Higgs and leptogenesis

In a class of two Higgs doublet model, where one Higgs doublet generates masses of quarks and charged leptons whereas the other Higgs doublet with a tiny vacuum expectation value (VEV) generates neutrino Dirac masses, smallness of neutrino masses might be understand as the consequence of the small second Higgs VEV. In this framework, thermal leptogenesis scenarios work well at low energy scale and have several advantages as follows. Under the assumption of hierarchical right-handed neutrino masses, the lightest right-handed neutrino can be as light as ${\cal O}(10^2)$ TeV.The required degeneracy for successful resonant leptogenesis also can be significantly reduced as small as ${\cal O}(10^4)$. Availability of low scale thermal leptogenesis provides a novel solution to gravitino problem in supergravity models.

Light Dirac right-handed sneutrino dark matter

We show that mostly right-handed Dirac sneutrino is a viable supersymmetric light dark matter candidate. While the Dirac sneutrino scattering with nuclei is dominantly through the $Z$ boson exchange and is stringently constrained by the invisible decay width of $Z$ boson, it is possible to realize a large enough cross section with nucleon to account for possible signals observed at direct dark matter searches such as CDMS II-Si or CoGeNT. Even if the XENON100 limit is taken into account, a small part of signal region for CDMS II-Si events remains outside the excluded region by XENON100.

Isospin violating dark matter being asymmetric

The isospin violating dark matter (IVDM) scenario offers an interesting possibility to reconcile conflicting results among direct dark matter search experiments for a mass range around 10 GeV. We consider two simple renormalizable IVDM models with a complex scalar dark matter and a Dirac fermion dark matter, respectively, whose stability is ensured by the conservation of "dark matter number". Although both models successfully work as the IVDM scenario with destructive interference between effective couplings to proton and neutron, the dark matter annihilation cross section is found to exceed the cosmological/astrophysical upper bounds. Then, we propose a simple scenario to reconcile the IVDM scenario with the cosmological/astrophysical bounds, namely, the IVDM being asymmetric. Assuming a suitable amount of dark matter asymmetry has been generated in the early Universe, the annihilation cross section beyond the cosmological/astrophysical upper bound nicely works to dramatically reduce the anti-dark matter relic density and as a result, the constraints from dark matter indirect searches are avoided. We also discuss collider experimental constraints on the models and an implication to Higgs boson physics.

Resonant leptogenesis with mild degeneracy

Under the assumption of hierarchical right-handed neutrino masses, masses of right-handed neutrinos must be larger than $10^8$ GeV in the standard thermal leptogenesis scenario, while the mass can be reduced to around 5 TeV in a neutrinophilic two Higgs doublet model. On the other hand, resonant leptogenesis can work with the masses of TeV-scale. However, necessary degeneracy between the lightest and the second lightest right-handed neutrino masses means unnatural fine-tuning of the order of $10^9$. In this paper, we will investigate the resonant leptogenesis scenario in a neutrinophilic two Higgs doublet model. We will find the mass can be reduced to 2 TeV and the degeneracy becomes much milder as of the order of $10^4$. We will also show that degenerate mass spectrum of active neutrinos is disfavored in this setup.

Vector Higgs-portal dark matter and Fermi-LAT gamma ray line

We propose a renormalizable model for vector dark matter with extra U(1) gauge symmetry, which is broken by the VEV of a complex singlet scalar. When the singlet scalar has a quartic coupling to a heavy charged scalar, the resonance effect enhances the annihilation cross section of vector dark matter into two photons such that Fermi-gamma ray line at about 130 GeV is obtained. In the presence of a tiny mixing between the singlet scalar and the Standard Model Higgs doublet, the relic density is determined dominantly by WW/ZZ and two-photon channels near the resonance pole of the singlet scalar. We also show that various phenomenological bounds coming from the Higgs to diphoton decay rate, precision data and collider searches for the charged scalar and vacuum stability are satisfied in the model.

Dirac right-handed sneutrino dark matter and its signature in the gamma-ray lines

We show that a Dirac right-handed scalar neutrino can be weakly interacting massive particle in the neutrinophilic Higgs model. When the additional Higgs fields couple only to the leptonic sector through neutrino Yukawa couplings, the right number of relic density of dark matter can be obtained from thermal freeze-out of the dark matter annihilation into charged leptons and neutrinos. At present, this annihilation is suppressed by the velocity of dark matter. However one-loop annihilation cross section into $γγ$ can be larger than that of the helicity suppressed annihilation into fermions, because relevant coupling constants are different. Hence, gamma-ray line signal which might have been observed in the Fermi-LAT is also able to be explained by its annihilation.

Originally Asymmetric Dark Matter

We propose a scenario with a fermion dark matter, where the dark matter particle used to be the Dirac fermion, but it takes the form of the Majorana fermion at a late time. The relic number density of the dark matter is determined by the dark matter asymmetry generated through the same mechanism as leptogenesis when the dark matter was the Dirac fermion. After efficient dark matter annihilation processes have frozen out, a phase transition of a scalar field takes place and generates Majorana mass terms to turn the dark matter particle into the Majorana fermion. In order to address this scenario in detail, we propose two simple models. The first one is based on the Standard Model (SM) gauge group and the dark matter originates the $SU(2)_L$ doublet Dirac fermion, analogous to the Higgsino-like neutralino in supersymmetric models. We estimate the spin-independent/dependent elastic scattering cross sections of this late-time Majorana dark matter with a proton and find the possibility to discover it by the direct and/or indirect dark matter search experiments in the near future. The second model is based on the $B-L$ gauged extension of the SM, where the dark matter is a SM singlet. Although this model is similar to the so-called Higgs portal dark matter scenario, the spin-independent elastic scattering cross section can be large enough to detect this dark matter in future experiments.

Vector WIMP Miracle

Weakly interacting massive particle (WIMP) is well known to be a good candidate for dark matter, and it is also predicted by many new physics models beyond the standard model at the TeV scale. We found that, if the WIMP is a vector particle (spin one particle) which is associated with some gauge symmetry broken at the TeV scale, the higgs mass is often predicted to be 120--125 GeV, which is very consistent with the result of higgs searches recently reported by ATLAS and CMS collaborations at the Large Hadron Collider experiment. In this letter, we consider the vector WIMP using a non-linear sigma model in order to confirm this result as general as possible in a bottom-up approach. Near-future prospects to detect the vector WIMP at both direct and indirect detection experiments of dark matter are also discussed.

Modulated reheating by curvaton

There might be a light scalar field during inflation which is not responsible for the accelerating inflationary expansion. Then, its quantum fluctuation is stretched during inflation. This scalar field could be a curvaton, if it decays at a late time. In addition, if the inflaton decay rate depends on the light scalar field expectation value by interactions between them, density perturbations could be generated by the quantum fluctuation of the light field when the inflaton decays. This is modulated reheating mechanism. We study curvature perturbation in models where a light scalar field does not only play a role of curvaton but also induce modulated reheating at the inflaton decay. We calculate the non-linearity parameters as well as the scalar spectral index and the tensor-to-scalar ratio. We find that there is a parameter region where non-linearity parameters are also significantly enhanced by the cancellation between the modulated effect and the curvaton contribution. For the simple quadratic potential model of both inflaton and curvaton, both tensor-to-scalar ratio and nonlinearity parameters could be simultaneously large.

Very light right-handed sneutrino dark matter in the NMSSM

Very light right-handed (RH) sneutrinos in the Next-to-Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model can be viable candidates for cold dark matter. We investigate the prospects for their direct detection, addressing their compatibility with the recent signal observed by the CoGeNT detector, and study the implications for Higgs phenomenology. We find that in order to reproduce the correct relic abundance very light RH sneutrinos can annihilate into either a fermion-antifermion pair, very light pseudoscalar Higgses or RH neutrinos. If the main annihilation channel is into fermions, we point out that RH sneutrinos could naturally account for the CoGeNT signal. Furthermore, the lightest Higgs has a very large invisible decay width, and in some cases the second-lightest Higgs too. On the other hand, if the RH sneutrino annihilates mostly into pseudoscalars or RH neutrinos the predictions for direct detection are below the current experimental sensitivities and satisfy the constraints set by CDMS and XENON. We also calculate the gamma ray flux from RH sneutrino annihilation in the Galactic centre, including as an interesting new possibility RH neutrinos in the final state. These are produced through a resonance with the Higgs and the resulting flux can exhibit a significant Breit-Wigner enhancement.
