Masses of dark matter and neutrino from TeV scale spontaneous $U(1)_{B-L}$ breaking

We propose a simple testable model with mass generation mechanisms for dark matter and neutrino based on the gauged $U(1)_{B-L}$ symmetry and an exact $Z_2$ parity. The $U(1)_{B-L}$ symmetry is spontaneously broken at the TeV scale, by which $Z_2$-odd right-handed neutrinos receive Majorana masses of the electroweak scale. The lightest one is a dark matter candidate, whose stability is guaranteed by the $Z_2$ parity. Resulting lepton number violation is transmitted to the left-handed neutrinos $ν_L^i$ via the loop-induced dimension-six operator. Consequently, the tiny masses of $ν_L^i$ can be generated without excessive fine tuning. The observed dark matter abundance can be reproduced by the pair annihilation via the s-channel scalar exchange due to mixing of neutral components of $Φ$ and $S$, where $Φ$ and $S$ respectively represent the Higgs doublet and the additional scalar singlet with the $B-L$ charge. The model can be tested at collider experiments as well as flavor experiments through the discriminative predictions such as two light neutral Higgs bosons with large mixing, invisible decays of the Higgs bosons as well as the $B-L$ gauge boson, and lepton flavor violation.

Thermal leptogenesis in a supersymmetric neutrinophilic Higgs model

We investigate thermal leptogenesis in a supersymmetric neutrinophilic Higgs model by taking phenomenological constraints into account, where, in addition to the minimal supersymmetric standard model, we introduce an extra Higgs field with a tiny vacuum expectation value (VEV) which generates neutrino masses. Thanks to this tiny VEV of the neutrinophilic Higgs, our model allows to reduce the mass of the lightest right-handed (s)neutrino to be ${\cal O}(10^5)$ GeV as keeping sufficiently large CP asymmetry in its decay. Therefore, the reheating temperature after inflation is not necessarily high, hence this scenario is free from gravitino problem.

Constraints from Unrealistic Vacua in the Next-to-Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model

We study constraints to avoid deep unrealistic minima in the next-to-minimal supersymmetric standard model. We analyze a scalar potential along directions where all of and one of the three Higgs fields develop their vacuum expectation values, and find unrealistic minima deeper than the electroweak symmetry breaking (EWSB) vacuum. These unrealistic minima threaten the realization of the successful EWSB and therefore should be avoided. Necessary conditions to avoid these minima result in constraints of parameters. We show that a wide and significant region of the parameter space, especially large λ, is ruled out by our constraints.

Low scale thermal leptogenesis in neutrinophilic Higgs doublet models

It is well-known that leptogenesis in low energy scale is difficult in the conventional Type-I seesaw mechanism with hierarchical right-handed neutrino masses. We show that in a class of two Higgs doublet model, where one Higgs doublet generates masses of quarks and charged leptons whereas the other Higgs doublet with a tiny vacuum expectation value generates neutrino Dirac masses, large Yukawa couplings lead to a large enough CP asymmetry of the right-handed neutrino decay. Thermal leptogenesis suitably works at low energy scale as keeping no enhancement of lepton number violating wash out effects. We will also point out that thermal leptogenesis works well without confronting gravitino problem in a supersymmetric neutrinophilic Higgs doublet model with gravity mediated supersymmetry breaking. Neutralino dark matter and baryon asymmetry generation by thermal leptogenesis are easily compatible in our setup.

ILC phenomenology in a TeV scale radiative seesaw model for neutrino mass, dark matter and baryon asymmetry

We discuss phenomenology in a new TeV scale model which would explain neutrino oscillation, dark matter, and baryon asymmetry of the Universe simultaneously by the dynamics of the extended Higgs sector and TeV-scale right-handed neutrinos. Tiny neutrino masses are generated at the three-loop level due to the exact $Z_2$ symmetry, by which the stability of the dark matter candidate is guaranteed. The model provides various discriminative predictions in Higgs phenomenology, which can be tested at the Large Hadron Collider and the International Linear Collider.

Non-Gaussianity and gravitational wave background in curvaton with a double well potential

We study the density perturbation by a curvaton with a double well potential and estimate the nonlinear parameters for non-Gaussianity and the amplitude of gravitational wave background generated during inflation. The predicted nonlinear parameters strongly depend on the size of a curvaton self-coupling constant as well as the reheating temperature after inflation for a given initial amplitude of the curvaton. The difference from usual massive self-interacting curvaton is also emphasized.

Higgs portal dark matter in the minimal gauged $U(1)_{B-L}$ model

We propose a scenario of the right-handed neutrino dark matter in the context of the minimal gauged $U(1)_{B-L}$ model by introducing an additional parity which ensures the stability of dark matter particle. The annihilation of this right-handed neutrino takes place dominantly through the s-channel Higgs boson exchange, so that this model can be called Higgs portal dark matter model. We show that the thermal relic abundance of the right-handed neutrino dark matter with help of Higgs resonance can match the observed dark matter abundance. In addition we estimate the cross section with nucleon and show that the next generation direct dark matter search experiments can explore this model.

Multi-Higgs portal dark matter under the CDMS II results

In a scenario of Higgs portal dark matter, Higgs exchange processes are essential for both dark matter annihilation in the early Universe and direct search experiments. The CDMS II collaboration has recently released their final results on direct dark matter searches. We study a scalar dark matter model with multi-Higgs doublets under the constraint from the CDMS II results and also from the WMAP data. We find that the possible maximal value for the branching ratio of the invisible decay of the Higgs boson can be significantly greater than that in the Higgs portal model with one Higgs doublet, in particular, for the case of the so-called Type-X Yukawa interaction. Therefore, the search for the invisible decay of the Higgs boson at the CERN Large Hadron Collider and future collider experiments would provide useful information not only for the nature of dark matter but also for the structure of the Higgs sector even without directly detecting any extra scalar boson.

A Model of TeV Scale Physics for Neutrino Mass, Dark Matter and Baryon Asymmetry and its Phenomenology

We discuss some details for the model proposed in Ref. \cite{aks-prl}, in which neutrino oscillation, dark matter, and baryon asymmetry of the Universe can be simultaneously explained by the TeV-scale physics without introducing very high mass scales. An exact discrete $Z_2$ symmetry is introduced, under which new particle contents (a real singlet scalar field, a pair of charged singlet scalar fields and TeV-scale right-handed neutrinos) are assigned to have odd quantum number, whereas ordinary gauge fields, quarks and leptons, and two Higgs doublets are even. Tiny neutrino masses are generated at the three loop level due to the exact $Z_2$ symmetry, by which stability of the dark matter candidate is also guaranteed. The extra Higgs doublet is required not only for the tiny neutrino masses but also for successful electroweak baryogenesis. We discuss phenomenological properties of the model, and find that there are successful scenarios in which above three problems are solved simultaneously under the constraint from current experimental data. We then discuss predictions in such scenarios at ongoing and future experiments. It turns out that the model provides discriminative predictions especially in Higgs physics and dark matter physics, so that it is testable in near future.

A TeV scale model for neutrino mass, dark matter and baryon asymmetry

We discuss a TeV scale model which would explain neutrino oscillation, dark matter, and baryon asymmetry of the Universe simultaneously by the dynamics of the extended Higgs sector and TeV-scale right-handed neutrinos with imposed an exact $Z_2$ symmetry. Tiny neutrino masses are generated at the three loop level, a singlet scalar field is a candidate of dark matter, and a strong first order phase transition is realized for successful electroweak baryogenesis. The model provides various discriminative predictions, so that it is testable at the current and future experiments.

Right-handed sneutrino dark matter in the NMSSM

We study the properties of the right-handed sneutrino and its viability as a WIMP dark matter candidate in an extended version of the NMSSM in which a right-handed neutrino superfield is included with a coupling to the singlet Higgs in order to provide non-vanishing Majorana neutrino masses. We perform a systematic study of the parameter space, including LEP constraints and experimental bounds on low-energy observables. We investigate the conditions under which the right-handed sneutrino has the correct relic abundance and the dominant annihilation channels. Next we calculate the theoretical predictions for the sneutrino-proton elastic scattering cross section and compare it with present and future experimental sensitivities. We find that sneutrinos with a mass in the range of 5-200 GeV can reproduce the observed dark matter relic density without being excluded by direct dark matter searches and for natural values of the input parameters. Interestingly, the predicted scattering cross section is generally within the reach of future experiments. Finally, we comment on the possible implications for collider physics.

An extended Higgs sector for neutrino mass, dark matter and baryon asymmetry

In this talk, we discuss a TeV scale model which would explain neutrino oscillation, dark matter, and baryon asymmetry of the Universe simultaneously by the dynamics of the extended Higgs sector and TeV-scale right-handed neutrinos. By the imposed exact $Z_2$ symmetry, tiny neutrino masses are generated at the three loop level, and the stability of the dark matter candidate, an additional singlet scalar field, is guaranteed. The extra Higgs doublet is introduced not only for neutrino masses but also for successful electroweak baryogenesis. The model provides various discriminative predictions in Higgs phenomenology, which can be tested at the Large Hadron Collider and the International Linear Collider.

Neutrino mass, Dark Matter and Baryon Asymmetry via TeV-Scale Physics without Fine-Tuning

Sterile neutrino dark matter in $B-L$ extension of the standard model and galactic 511 keV line

Sterile right-handed neutrinos can be naturally embedded in a low scale gauged $U(1)_{B-L}$ extension of the standard model. We show that, within a low reheating scenario, such a neutrino is an interesting candidate for dark matter. We emphasize that if the neutrino mass is of order of MeV, then it accounts for the measured dark matter relic density and also accommodates the observed flux of 511 keV photons from the galactic bulge.

Supersymmetric inflation and baryogenesis via Extra-Flat directions of the MSSM

One interpretation of proton stability is the existence of extra-flat directions of the MSSM, in particular $u^{c}u^{c}d^{c}e^{c}$ and $QQQL$, where the operators lifting the potential are suppressed by a mass scale $Λ$ which is much larger than the Planck mass, $ Λ\gae 10^{26} \GeV$. Using D-term hybrid inflation as an example, we show that such flat directions can serve as the inflaton in SUSY inflation models. The resulting model is a minimal version of D-term inflation which requires the smallest number of additional fields. In the case where $Q$-balls form from the extra-flat direction condensate after inflation, successful Affleck-Dine baryogenesis is possible if the suppression mass scale is $\gae 10^{31}-10^{35} \GeV$. In this case the reheating temperature from $Q$-ball decay is in the range $3-100 \GeV$, while observable baryon isocurvature perturbations and non-thermal dark matter are possible. In the case of extra-flat directions with a large $t$ squark component, there no $Q$-ball formation and reheating is via conventional condensate decay. In this case the reheating temperature is in the range $1-100 \TeV$, naturally evading thermal gravitino overproduction while allowing sphaleron erasure of any large B-L asymmetry.

Gravitino dark matter from increased thermal relic particles

We investigate the so-called superWIMP scenario with gravitino as the lightest supersymmetric particle (LSP) in the context of non-standard cosmology, in particular, brane world cosmology. As a candidate of the next-to-LSP (NLSP), we examine slepton and sneutrino. Brane world cosmological effects dramatically enhance the relic density of the slepton or sneutrino NLSP, so that the NLSP with mass of order 100 GeV can provide the correct abundance of gravitino dark matter through its decay. We find that with an appropriate five dimensional Planck mass, this scenario can be realized consistently with the constraints from Big Bang Nucleosynthesis (BBN) for both NLSP candidates of slepton and sneutrino. The BBN constraints for slepton NLSP are more stringent than that for sneutrino, as the result, the gravitino must be rather warm in the slepton NLSP case. The energy density of gravitino produced by thermal scattering is highly suppressed and negligible due to the brane world cosmological effects.

Neutralino dark matter from heavy axino decay

We consider cosmological consequences of a heavy axino, decaying to the neutralino in R-parity conserving models. The importance and influence of the axino decay on the resultant abundance of neutralino dark matter depends on the lifetime and the energy density of axino. For a high reheating temperature after inflation, copiously produced axinos dominate the energy density of the universe and its decay produces a large amount of entropy. As a bonus, we obtain that the upper bound on the reheating temperature after inflation via gravitino decay can be moderated, because the entropy production by the axino decay more or less dilutes the gravitinos.
