Probabilistic construction of non compactified imaginary Liouville field theory

We propose a probabilistic construction of imaginary Liouville Field Theory based on a real (non-compactified) Gaussian Free Field. We argue that our theory is the first explicit Lagrangian field theory that reproduces the imaginary DOZZ structure constants without requiring a neutrality constraint. Our proposal is supported by exact results for the imaginary Gaussian Multiplicative Chaos on the circle, and by numerical simulations on the sphere. In particular, we show that the three-point functions of the theory agree remarkably well with the imaginary DOZZ structure constants.

Magnetic exponent for the long-range bond disordered Potts model

We consider the critical behavior of two-dimensional Potts models in presence of a bond disorder in which the correlation decays as a power law. In some recent work the thermal sector of this theory was investigated by a renormalization group computation based on perturbed conformal field theory. Here we apply the same approach to study instead the magnetic sector. In particular we compute the leading corrections to the Potts spin scaling dimension. Our results include as a special case the long-range disorder Ising model. We compare our prediction to Monte-Carlo simulations. Finally, by studying the magnetization scaling function, we show a clear numerical evidence of a cross-over between the long-range and the short-range class of universality.

Two-dimensional Ising and Potts model with long-range bond disorder: a renormalization group approach

In this paper we provide new analytic results on two-dimensional $q$-Potts models ($q \geq 2$) in the presence of bond disorder correlations which decay algebraically with distance with exponent $a$. In particular, our results are valid for the long-range bond disordered Ising model ($q=2$). We implement a renormalization group perturbative approach based on conformal perturbation theory. We extend to the long-range case the RG scheme used in [V. Dotsenko, Nucl. Phys. B 455 701 23] for the short-range disorder. Our approach is based on a $2$-loop order double expansion in the positive parameters $(2-a)$ and $(q-2)$. We will show that the Weinrib-Halperin conjecture for the long-range thermal exponent can be violated for a non-Gaussian disorder. We compute the central charges of the long-range fixed points finding a very good agreement with numerical measurements.

On the analytical continuation of lattice Liouville theory

The path integral of Liouville theory is well understood only when the central charge $c\in [25, \infty)$. Here, we study the analytical continuation the lattice Liouville path integral to generic values of $c$, with a particular focus on the vicinity of $c\in (-\infty, 1]$. We show that the $c\in [25, \infty)$ lattice path integral can be continued to one over a new integration cycle of complex field configurations. We give an explicit formula for the new integration cycle in terms of a discrete sum over elementary cycles, which are a direct generalization of the inverse Gamma function contour. Possible statistical interpretations are discussed. We also compare our approach to one focused on Lefschetz thimbles, by solving a two-site toy model in detail. As the parameter equivalent to $c$ varies from $[25, \infty)$ to $(-\infty, 1]$, we find an infinite number of Stokes walls (where the thimbles undergo topological rearrangements), accumulating at the destination point $c \in (-\infty, 1]$, where the thimbles become equivalent to the elementary cycles.

Long-range quenched bond disorder in the bi-dimensional Potts model

We study the bi-dimensional $q$-Potts model with long-range bond correlated disorder. Similarly to [C. Chatelain, Phys. Rev. E 89, 032105], we implement a disorder bimodal distribution by coupling the Potts model to auxiliary spin-variables, which are correlated with a power-law decaying function. The universal behaviour of different observables, especially the thermal and the order-parameter critical exponents, are computed by Monte-Carlo techniques for $q=1,2,3$-Potts models for different values of the power-law decaying exponent $a$. On the basis of our conclusions, which are in agreement with previous theoretical and numerical results for $q=1$ and $q=2$, we can conjecture the phase diagram for $q\in [1,4]$. In particular, we establish that the system is driven to a fixed point at finite or infinite long-range disorder depending on the values of $q$ and $a$. Finally, we discuss the role of the higher cumulants of the disorder distribution. This is done by drawning the auxiliary spin-variables from different statistical models. While the main features of the phase diagram depend only on the first and second cumulant, we argue, for the infinite disorder fixed point, that certain universal effects are affected by the higher cumulants of the disorder distribution.

On the CFT describing the spin clusters in 2d Potts model

We have considered clusters of like spin in the Q-Potts model, the spin Potts clusters. Using Monte Carlo simulations, we studied these clusters on a square lattice with periodic boundary conditions for values of Q in [1,4]. We continue the work initiated with Delfino and Viti (2013) by measuring the universal finite size corrections of the two-point connectivity. The numerical data are perfectly compatible with the CFT prediction, thus supporting the existence of a consistent CFT, still unknown, describing the connectivity Potts spin clusters. We provided in particular new insights on the energy field of such theory. For Q=2, we found a good agreement with the prediction that the Ising spin clusters behave as the Fortuin-Kasteleyn ones at the tri-critical point of the dilute 1-Potts model. We show that the structure constants are likely to be given by the imaginary Liouville structure constants, consistently with the results of Delfino et al. (2013) and of Ang and Sun (2021). For Q different from 2 instead, the structure constants we measure do not correspond to any known bootstrap solutions. The validity of our analysis is backed up by the measures of the spin Potts clusters wrapping probability for Q=3. We evaluate the main critical exponents and the correction to the scaling. A new exact and compact expression for the torus one-point of the Q-Potts energy field is also given.

Crossing-symmetric Twist Field Correlators and Entanglement Negativity in Minimal CFTs

We study conformal twist field four-point functions on a $\mathbb Z_N$ orbifold. We examine in detail the case $N=3$ and analyze theories obtained by replicated $N$-times a minimal model with central charge $c<1$. A fastly convergent expansion of the twist field correlation function in terms of sphere conformal blocks with central charge $Nc$ is obtained by exploiting covering map techniques. We discuss extensive applications of the formalism to the entanglement of two disjoint intervals in CFT, in particular we propose a conformal block expansion for the partially transposed reduced density matrix. Finally, we refine the bounds on the structure constants of unitary CFTs determined previously by the genus two modular bootstrap.

Level Set Percolation in Two-Dimensional Gaussian Free Field

The nature of level set percolation in the two-dimension Gaussian Free Field has been an elusive question. Using a loop-model mapping, we show that there is a nontrivial percolation transition, and characterize the critical point. In particular, the correlation length diverges exponentially, and the critical clusters are "logarithmic fractals", whose area scales with the linear size as $A \sim L^2 / \sqrt{\ln L}$. The two-point connectivity also decays as the log of the distance. We corroborate our theory by numerical simulations. Possible CFT interpretations are discussed.

Topological effects and conformal invariance in long-range correlated random surfaces

We consider discrete random fractal surfaces with negative Hurst exponent $H<0$. A random colouring of the lattice is provided by activating the sites at which the surface height is greater than a given level $h$. The set of activated sites is usually denoted as the excursion set. The connected components of this set, the level clusters, define a one-parameter ($H$) family of percolation models with long-range correlation in the site occupation. The level clusters percolate at a finite value $h=h_c$ and for $H\leq-\frac{3}{4}$ the phase transition is expected to remain in the same universality class of the pure (i.e. uncorrelated) percolation. For $-\frac{3}{4}<H< 0$ instead, there is a line of critical points with continously varying exponents. The universality class of these points, in particular concerning the conformal invariance of the level clusters, is poorly understood. By combining the Conformal Field Theory and the numerical approach, we provide new insights on these phases. We focus on the connectivity function, defined as the probability that two sites belong to the same level cluster. In our simulations, the surfaces are defined on a lattice torus of size $M\times N$. We show that the topological effects on the connectivity function make manifest the conformal invariance for all the critical line $H<0$. In particular, exploiting the anisotropy of the rectangular torus ($M\neq N$), we directly test the presence of the two components of the traceless stress-energy tensor. Moreover, we probe the spectrum and the structure constants of the underlying Conformal Field Theory. Finally, we observed that the corrections to the scaling clearly point out a breaking of integrability moving from the pure percolation point to the long-range correlated one.

Spin interfaces and crossing probabilities of spin clusters in parafermionic models

We consider fractal curves in two-dimensional $Z_N$ spin lattice models. These are N states spin models that undergo a continuous ferromagnetic-paramagnetic phase transition described by the ZN parafermionic field theory. The main motivation here is to investigate the correspondence between Schramm-Loewner evolutions (SLE) and conformal field theories with extended conformal algebras (ECFT). By using Monte-Carlo simulation, we compute the fractal dimension of different spin interfaces for the N=3 and N=4 spin models that correspond respectively to the 3 states Potts model and to the Ashkin-Teller model at the Fateev-Zamolodchikov point. These numerical measures, that improve and complete the ones presented in the previous works, are shown to be consistent with SLE/ECFT predictions. We consider then the crossing probability of spin clusters in a rectangular domain. Using a multiple SLE approach, we provide crossing probability formulas for ZN parafarmionic theories. The parafermionic conformal blocks that enter the crossing probability formula are computed by solving a Knhiznik-Zamolodchikov system of rank 3. In the 3 states Potts model case, where the parafermionic blocks coincide with the Virasoro ones, we rederive the crossing formula found by S.M.Flores et al., that is in good agreement with our measures. For N>=4 where the crossing probability satisfies a third order differential equation instead of a second order one, our formulas are new. The theoretical predictions are compared to Monte-Carlo measures taken at N=4 and a fair agreement is found.

Three- and four-point connectivities of two-dimensional critical $Q-$ Potts random clusters on the torus

In a recent paper, we considered the effects of the torus lattice topology on the two-point connectivity of $Q-$ Potts clusters. These effects are universal and probe non-trivial structure constants of the theory. We complete here this work by considering the torus corrections to the three- and four-point connectivities. These corrections, which depend on the scale invariant ratios of the triangle and quadrilateral formed by the three and four given points, test other non-trivial structure constants. We also present results of Monte Carlo simulations in good agreement with our predictions.

Crossing invariant correlation functions at $c=1$ from isomonodromic $τ$ functions

We present an approach that gives rigorous construction of a class of crossing invariant functions in $c=1$ CFTs from the weakly invariant distributions on the moduli space $\mathcal M_{0,4}^{SL(2,\mathbb{C})}$ of $SL(2,\mathbb{C})$ flat connections on the sphere with four punctures. By using this approach we show how to obtain correlation functions in the Ashkin-Teller and the Runkel-Watts theory. Among the possible crossing-invariant theories, we obtain also the analytic Liouville theory, whose consistence was assumed only on the basis of numerical tests.

Two-point connectivity of two-dimensional critical $Q-$ Potts random clusters on the torus

We consider the two dimensional $Q-$ random-cluster Potts model on the torus and at the critical point. We study the probability for two points to be connected by a cluster for general values of $Q\in [1,4]$. Using a Conformal Field Theory (CFT) approach, we provide the leading topological corrections to the plane limit of this probability. These corrections have universal nature and include, as a special case, the universality class of two-dimensional critical percolation. We compare our predictions to Monte Carlo measurements. Finally, we take Monte Carlo measurements of the torus energy one-point function that we compare to CFT computations.

On four-point connectivities in the critical 2d Potts model

We perform Monte-Carlo computations of four-point cluster connectivities in the critical 2d Potts model, for numbers of states $Q\in (0,4)$ that are not necessarily integer. We compare these connectivities to four-point functions in a CFT that interpolates between D-series minimal models. We find that 3 combinations of the 4 independent connectivities agree with CFT four-point functions, down to the $2$ to $4$ significant digits of our Monte-Carlo computations. However, we argue that the agreement is exact only in the special cases $Q=0, 3, 4$. We conjecture that the Potts model can be analytically continued to a double cover of the half-plane $\{\Re c <13\}$, where $c$ is the central charge of the Virasoro symmetry algebra.

Liouville theory with a central charge less than one

We determine the spectrum and correlation functions of Liouville theory with a central charge less than (or equal) one. This completes the definition of Liouville theory for all complex values of the central charge. The spectrum is always spacelike, and there is no consistent timelike Liouville theory. We also study the non-analytic conformal field theories that exist at rational values of the central charge. Our claims are supported by numerical checks of crossing symmetry. We provide Python code for computing Virasoro conformal blocks, and correlation functions in Liouville theory and (generalized) minimal models.

Notes on the solutions of Zamolodchikov-type recursion relations in Virasoro minimal models

We study Virasoro minimal-model 4-point conformal blocks on the sphere and 0-point conformal blocks on the torus (the Virasoro characters), as solutions of Zamolodchikov-type recursion relations. In particular, we study the singularities due to resonances of the dimensions of conformal fields in minimal-model representations, that appear in the intermediate steps of solving the recursion relations, but cancel in the final results.

Operator Product Expansion in Liouville Field Theory and Seiberg type transitions in log-correlated Random Energy Models

We study transitions in log-correlated Random Energy Models (logREMs) that are related to the violation of a Seiberg bound in Liouville field theory (LFT): the binding transition and the termination point transition (a.k.a. pre-freezing). By means of LFT-logREM mapping, replica symmetry breaking and traveling-wave equation techniques, we unify both transitions in a two-parameter diagram, which describes the free energy large deviations of logREMs with a deterministic background log potential, or equivalently, the joint moments of the free energy and Gibbs measure in logREMs without background potential. Under the LFT-logREM mapping, the transitions correspond to the competition of discrete and continuous terms in a four-point correlation function. Our results provide a statistical interpretation of a peculiar non-locality of the operator product expansion in LFT. The results are re-derived by a traveling-wave equation calculation, which shows that the features of LFT responsible for the transitions are reproduced in a simple model of diffusion with absorption. We examine also the problem by a replica symmetry breaking analysis. It complements the previous methods and reveals a rich large deviation structure of the free energy of logREMs with a deterministic background log potential. Many results are verified in the integrable circular logREM, by a replica-Coulomb gas integral approach. The related problem of common length (overlap) distribution is also considered. We provide a traveling-wave equation derivation of the LFT predictions announced in a precedent work.

Rigid Fuchsian systems in 2-dimensional conformal field theories

We investigate Fuchsian equations arising in the context of 2-dimensional conformal field theory (CFT) and we apply the Katz theory of Fucshian rigid systems to solve some of these equations. We show that the Katz theory provides a precise mathematical framework to answer the question whether the fusion rules of degenerate primary fields are enough for determining the differential equations satisfied by their correlation functions. We focus on the case of W3 Toda CFT: we argue that the differential equations arising for four-point conformal blocks with one n-th level semi-degenerate field and a fully-degenerate one in the fundamental sl3 representation are associated to Fuchsian rigid systems. We show how to apply Katz theory to determine the explicit form of the differential equations, the integral expression of solutions and the monodromy group representation. The theory of twisted homology is also used in the analysis of the integral expression. This approach allows to construct the corresponding fusion matrices and to perform the whole bootstrap program: new explicit factorization of W3 correlation functions as well shift relations between structure constants are also provided.
