Partial Superimposed Pilot-Aided Sparse Vector Transmission for High-Mobility URLLC

A partial superimposed pilot-aided sparse vector transmission (PSP-SVT) scheme is proposed for short-packet ultra-reliable and low-latency communications in high-mobility scenarios. Unlike conventional full superimposed pilot-aided SVT schemes, the proposed PSP-SVT scheme deploys only a few pilots over a subset of subcarriers. This sparse pilot structure is sufficient for basis expansion model based channel tracking while effectively reducing pilot-data interference. Based on the PSP pattern, an iterative receiver is developed to jointly perform channel estimation and data decoding. The reduced pilot interference in PSP-SVT provides more accurate initial channel estimation and data detection, thereby improving the subsequent iterative refinement and mitigating their error propagation. Moreover, the impacts of the number of PSPs and power allocation ratio on block error rate (BLER) performance are investigated to reveal the near-optimal pilot configuration. Simulation results show that the proposed PSP-SVT scheme outperforms existing full superimposed pilot-aided SVT schemes in terms of BLER with fast convergence speed.

Finite Element Approximation of Nonlocal Problems with Heterogeneous Localization and Local Boundary Conditions

This paper studies the finite element approximation of a one-dimensional nonlocal Poisson problem with heterogeneous localization and homogeneous local Dirichlet boundary conditions. These local boundary conditions induce localization kernels with spatially varying interaction neighborhoods, which lead to substantial numerical challenges for the assembly of the singular nonlocal stiffness matrix. An asymptotically compatible conforming finite element method is developed for the variational formulation, together with an exact geometric decomposition for the singular stiffness matrix assembly. Under additional smoothness assumptions on the localization profile, second-order operator consistency is established and error estimates are derived with the corresponding convergence orders. Numerical experiments confirm the theoretical convergence behavior and demonstrate the improved boundary behavior of the heterogeneous localization model.

High-Order Regularity and a Fully Discrete Fourier Spectral Method for a Partially Dissipative Viscoelastic Timoshenko System with Memory

This paper investigates a class of partially dissipative viscoelastic Timoshenko systems with memory, where dissipation is induced by a Volterra-type memory term acting only on the shear variable. The well-posedness of weak and strong solutions is established on finite time intervals, including existence, uniqueness, stability, and higher-order regularity under compatibility conditions consistent with mixed boundary conditions. For the numerical approximation, a Fourier spectral fully discrete scheme is constructed: sine and cosine basis expansions are used in space for unknowns satisfying Dirichlet and Neumann boundary conditions, respectively; in time, a central difference scheme is applied to the second-order derivatives, and the composite trapezoidal rule is used to approximate the memory convolution term. Based on a discrete energy method, the positivity of the constructed discrete energy is proved, and the error estimate for the fully discrete scheme with second-order convergence in time and \(q\)-th order in space is established for any q \in \mathbb{N}. Numerical experiments are given to verify the theoretical convergence rates and to compare the dynamic responses of the local and nonlocal models, demonstrating that the memory term effectively captures energy dissipation and vibration attenuation behavior in viscoelastic materials.

A Measure-Consistent Operator Learning Method for Infinite-Dimensional Master Equations

Master equations in mean field game theory characterize feedback value functions that depend on time, state (space), and the population distribution. Their numerical approximation is challenging because the unknown is defined on a space of probability measures and the equation involves intrinsic measure derivatives and nonlocal population terms. This paper proposes a measure-consistent operator learning method (MCOL) for infinite-dimensional master equations. The population distribution is represented by an empirical measure and encoded through a symmetric pooling structure, so that the network input is built directly from the particles representing the measure. The same particles are used in the empirical quadrature of the nonlocal residual terms, avoiding additional quadrature grids or auxiliary integration points. A key feature is that the intrinsic derivative appearing in the residual is induced by the same measure-dependent representation that defines the approximation of the value function. Consequently, the value function, its measure derivative, and the empirical residual are tied to a common measure representation, leading to a structurally coupled value-derivative approximation. We also introduce an error decomposition separating neural approximation error from empirical discretization error. Numerical experiments on several master equations show that MCOL accurately approximates the value function, intrinsic measure derivatives, and feedback quantities, and remains robust under changes in the input measures.

Time Resolution of a Novel Ultra-fast Graphene-Optimized 4H-SiC PIN

Silicon carbide detectors exhibit good detection performance such as fast time resolution, high radiation tolerances, high breakdown voltage and low temperature sensitivity and have been studied for detection applications. Meanwhile, transient current technique (TCT) is a direct and effective method to evaluate the time resolution of semiconductor detectors. Conventional metal electrodes for TCT testing employ window structures, which lead to non-uniform electric field distribution and deteriorated time resolution. Graphene features high optical transmittance, ultrahigh carrier mobility, and excellent radiation resistance, making it an ideal transparent electrode material for semiconductor detectors. In this work, a graphene-optimized ring electrode (G/RE) 4H-SiC PIN detector and a reference ring electrode (RE) 4H-SiC PIN detector are fabricated. TCT measurements demonstrate that graphene integration improves the time resolution consistency, reducing the time resolution from 38 ps (reference RE detector) to 21 ps (G/RE detector) at the maximum scanning distance, while also achieving effective noise suppression. The graphene integration improves the stability of time resolution by 87% compared to the reference detector. Notably, the achieved time resolution of 21 ps is comparable to that of state-of-the-art 4H-SiC low-gain avalanche detectors (LGADs), which typically exhibit time resolutions better than 35 ps under single minimum ionizing particle (MIP) equivalent injection conditions, further validating the effectiveness of graphene-based electrode design.

DACESR: Degradation-Aware Conditional Embedding for Real-World Image Super-Resolution

Multimodal large models have shown excellent ability in addressing image super-resolution in real-world scenarios by leveraging language class as condition information, yet their abilities in degraded images remain limited. In this paper, we first revisit the capabilities of the Recognize Anything Model (RAM) for degraded images by calculating text similarity. We find that directly using contrastive learning to fine-tune RAM in the degraded space is difficult to achieve acceptable results. To address this issue, we employ a degradation selection strategy to propose a Real Embedding Extractor (REE), which achieves significant recognition performance gain on degraded image content through contrastive learning. Furthermore, we use a Conditional Feature Modulator (CFM) to incorporate the high-level information of REE for a powerful Mamba-based network, which can leverage effective pixel information to restore image textures and produce visually pleasing results. Extensive experiments demonstrate that the REE can effectively help image super-resolution networks balance fidelity and perceptual quality, highlighting the great potential of Mamba in real-world applications. The distinction of time-reversal-like degeneracy by electronic transport in a new compound

We report the discovery of a new compound, Ce$_3$MgBi$_5$, and reveal the hidden time-reversal-like degenerate states within it. Ce$_3$MgBi$_5$ is an antiferromagnet with the distorted kagome lattice of Ce atoms, in which several fractional magnetization plateaus emerge with the increase of magnetic field. At the 1/2 magnetization plateau, obvious hysteresis has been observed in the magnetoresistance and Hall resistivity during the rise and fall of the magnetic field. However, hysteresis vanishes in the corresponding measurements of magnetization, indicating the existence of degenerate states with the same net magnetization but different electronic transport properties. The degenerate states can be connected by the time-reversal-like operation. In addition, by comparing with HoAgGe, it is suggested that the special crystal structure in Ce$_3$MgBi$_5$ may have a shielding effect on the time-reversal-like operation, thereby affecting the distinction of degenerate states. Our work establishes Ce$_3$MgBi$_5$ as an example of utilizing electronic transport properties to identify and distinguish hidden symmetries in frustrated magnetic systems.

Low-Complexity Sparse Superimposed Coding for Ultra Reliable Low Latency Communications

Sparse superimposed coding (SSC) has emerged as a promising technique for short-packet transmission in ultra-reliable low-latency communication scenarios. However, conventional SSC schemes often suffer from high encoding and decoding complexity due to the use of dense codebook matrices. In this paper, we propose a low-complexity SSC scheme by designing a sparse codebook structure, where each codeword contains only a small number of non-zero elements. The decoding is performed using the traditional multipath matching pursuit algorithm, and the overall complexity is significantly reduced by exploiting the sparsity of the codebook. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme achieves a favorable trade-off between BLER performance and computational complexity, and exhibits strong robustness across different transmission block lengths.

Digital Twin-Driven Secure Access Strategy for SAGIN-Enabled IoT Networks

In space-air-ground integrated networks (SAGIN)-enabled IoT networks, secure access has become a significant challenge due to the increasing risks of eavesdropping attacks. To address these threats to data confidentiality, this paper proposes a Digital Twin (DT)-driven secure access strategy. The strategy leverages a virtual replica of the physical SAGIN environment within the DT framework to continuously assess dynamic eavesdropping risks by quantifying secrecy capacity. Operating within this DT framework, an evolutionary game model dynamically balances the DT-updated secrecy capacity against queuing delay, steering IoT devices toward more secure and efficient access decisions. Furthermore, a novel distributed algorithm, integral to the DT operation, is developed to obtain the equilibrium access strategy for each device in a scalable manner. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed DT-based approach substantially improves the security of SAGIN-enabled IoT networks. Additionally, it effectively balances system load, prevents overload occurrences, and decreases queuing delay compared to benchmark schemes, thereby comprehensively improving overall network performance.

Multiplexed SiPM Readout of Plastic Scintillating Fiber Detector for Muon Tomography

Muon tomography is a non-destructive imaging technique that uses cosmic-ray muons to probe dense materials. Bar scintillator and scintillating fiber detectors equipped with one-dimensional SiPM arrays offer compact, high-resolution solutions, but large-area implementations require effective reduction of readout channels while preserving detector performance. To address this challenge, we present a novel multiplexing scheme based on a diode-based symmetric charge division circuit combined with a position-encoding algorithm, enabling up to $N_{\textrm{SiPM}}^{\textrm{max}}=C^{2}_{N_{\textrm{ele}}}$ SiPM channels to be read out using only ${N_{\textrm{ele}}}$ electronic channels. Circuit simulations confirm the feasibility of the multiplexing design and guide the choice of appropriate diodes to preserve SiPM signal integrity. The approach was validated using a SciFi detector module comprising 21 SiPM channels multiplexed into 7 electronic channels. Electronic tests show that this multiplexing circuit exhibits low crosstalk between electronic channels, and preserves linearity over a dynamic range from $\sim$10 to 122 photoelectrons. Cosmic-ray measurements further show that the multiplexed SciFi detector achieves a detection efficiency above 95\% and a spatial resolution of about 0.65~mm, with only minor degradation compared to the direct (per SiPM channel) readout. These results verify that the proposed method provides a scalable and cost-effective readout solution for large-area muon tomography systems and is applicable to other scintillator-based detectors employing similar one-dimensional SiPM array readout.

Performance evaluation of compact plastic scintillating fiber modules for muon tomography applications

Muon tomography is a non-destructive imaging technique that exploits cosmic-ray muons from multiple directions. Its performance critically depends on the stability, active-area coverage, and spatial resolution of position-sensitive detectors. In this work, we report on the development of four compact scintillating fiber modules, each 100 cm long and composed of two staggered layers of 1 mm diameter fibers. The fibers are read out at one end by one-dimensional silicon photomultiplier arrays with a 2 mm pitch, coupled to Citiroc 1A-based front-end electronics. The modules were characterized with cosmic-ray muons, yielding a detection efficiency above 97% and a mean spatial resolution of about 0.56 mm, with uniform response over different distances from the readout end. An imaging test of a lead block was also performed, and the reconstructed results are consistent with the blocks profile. These results demonstrate the suitability of this detector design for compact and large-area systems in muon tomography applications.

DIFFUMA: High-Fidelity Spatio-Temporal Video Prediction via Dual-Path Mamba and Diffusion Enhancement

Spatio-temporal video prediction plays a pivotal role in critical domains, ranging from weather forecasting to industrial automation. However, in high-precision industrial scenarios such as semiconductor manufacturing, the absence of specialized benchmark datasets severely hampers research on modeling and predicting complex processes. To address this challenge, we make a twofold contribution.First, we construct and release the Chip Dicing Lane Dataset (CHDL), the first public temporal image dataset dedicated to the semiconductor wafer dicing process. Captured via an industrial-grade vision system, CHDL provides a much-needed and challenging benchmark for high-fidelity process modeling, defect detection, and digital twin development.Second, we propose DIFFUMA, an innovative dual-path prediction architecture specifically designed for such fine-grained dynamics. The model captures global long-range temporal context through a parallel Mamba module, while simultaneously leveraging a diffusion module, guided by temporal features, to restore and enhance fine-grained spatial details, effectively combating feature degradation. Experiments demonstrate that on our CHDL benchmark, DIFFUMA significantly outperforms existing methods, reducing the Mean Squared Error (MSE) by 39% and improving the Structural Similarity (SSIM) from 0.926 to a near-perfect 0.988. This superior performance also generalizes to natural phenomena datasets. Our work not only delivers a new state-of-the-art (SOTA) model but, more importantly, provides the community with an invaluable data resource to drive future research in industrial AI.

Simulation of radiation damage effect on silicon detectors using RASER

Silicon detectors play a crucial role in high energy physics experiments. In future high energy physics experiments, silicon detectors will be exposed to extremely high fluence environment, which can significantly affect their performance. It is important to understand the electrical behavior of detectors after irradiation. In this study, an irradiation simulation framework is constructed in RASER to simulate leakage current and charge collection effciency. The defect parameters are obtained from the Hamburg penta trap model (HPTM). Based on this work, we predict the similar silicon inner tracker which under a ten-year CEPC Higgs mode run can still maintain over 90% charge collection efficiency.

Convergence and superconvergence analysis of discontinuous Galerkin methods for index-2 integral-algebraic equations

The integral-algebraic equation (IAE) is a mixed system of first-kind and second-kind Volterra integral equations (VIEs). This paper mainly focuses on the discontinuous Galerkin (DG) method to solve index-2 IAEs. First, the convergence theory of perturbed DG methods for first-kind VIEs is established, and then used to derive the optimal convergence properties of DG methods for index-2 IAEs. It is shown that an $(m-1)$-th degree DG approximation exhibits global convergence of order~$m$ when~$m$ is odd, and of order~$m-1$ when~$m$ is even, for the first component~$x_1$ of the exact solution, corresponding to the second-kind VIE, whereas the convergence order is reduced by two for the second component~$x_2$ of the exact solution, corresponding to the first-kind VIE. Each component also exhibits local superconvergence of one order higher when~$m$ is even. When~$m$ is odd, superconvergence occurs only if $x_1$ satisfies $x_1^{(m)}(0)=0$. Moreover, with this condition, we can extend the local superconvergence result for~$x_2$ to global superconvergence when~$m$ is odd. Note that in the DG method for an index-1 IAE, generally, the global superconvergence of the exact solution component corresponding to the second-kind VIE can only be obtained by iteration. However, we can get superconvergence for all components of the exact solution of the index-2 IAE directly. Some numerical experiments are given to illustrate the obtained theoretical results.

Statistical QoS Provisioning Architecture for 6G Satellite-Terrestrial Integrated Networks

The emergence of massive ultra-reliable and low latency communications (mURLLC) as a category of time/reliability-sensitive service over 6G networks has received considerable research attention, which has presented unprecedented challenges. As one of the key enablers for 6G, satellite-terrestrial integrated networks (STIN) have been developed to offer more expansive connectivity and comprehensive 3D coverage in space-aerial-terrestrial domains for supporting 6G mission-critical mURLLC applications while fulfilling diverse and rigorous quality of service (QoS) requirements. In the context of these mURLLC-driven satellite services, data freshness assumes paramount importance, as outdated data may engender unpredictable or catastrophic outcomes. To effectively measure data freshness in satellite-terrestrial integrated communications, age of information (AoI) has recently surfaced as a new dimension of QoS metric to support time-sensitive applications. It is crucial to design new analytical models that ensure stringent and diverse QoS metrics bounded by different key parameters, including AoI, delay, and reliability, over 6G satellite-terrestrial integrated networks. However, due to the complicated and dynamic nature of satellite-terrestrial integrated network environments, the research on efficiently defining new statistical QoS schemes while taking into account varying degrees of freedom has still been in their infancy. To remedy these deficiencies, in this paper we develop statistical QoS provisioning schemes over 6G satellite-terrestrial integrated networks in the finite blocklength regime. Particularly, we firstly introduce and review key technologies for supporting mURLLC. Secondly, we formulate a number of novel fundamental statistical-QoS metrics in the finite blocklength regime. Finally, we conduct a set of simulations to evaluate our developed statistical QoS schemes.

Extremely large anomalous Hall conductivity and unusual axial diamagnetism in a quasi-1D Dirac material La$_3$MgBi$_5$

Anomalous Hall effect (AHE), one of the most important electronic transport phenomena, generally appears in ferromagnetic materials but is rare in materials without magnetic elements. Here, we present a study of La$_3$MgBi$_5$, whose band structure carries multitype Dirac fermions. Although magnetic elements are absent in La$_3$MgBi$_5$, clear signals of AHE can be observed. In particular, the anomalous Hall conductivity is extremely large, reaching 42,356 $\Omega^{-1}$ cm$^{-1}$ with an anomalous Hall angle of 8.8 %, the largest one that has been observed in the current AHE systems. The AHE is suggested to originate from the combination of skew scattering and Berry curvature. Another unique property discovered in La$_3$MgBi$_5$ is the axial diamagnetism. The diamagnetism is significantly enhanced and dominates the magnetization in the axial directions, which is the result of restricted motion of the Dirac fermion at Fermi level. Our findings not only establish La$_3$MgBi$_5$ as a suitable platform to study AHE and quantum transport, but also indicate the great potential of 315-type Bi-based materials for exploring novel physical properties.

Anisotropic in-plane heat transport of Kitaev magnet Na$_2$Co$_2$TeO$_6$

We report a study on low-temperature heat transport of Kitaev magnet Na$_2$Co$_2$TeO$_6$, with the heat current and magnetic fields along the honeycomb spin layer (the $ab$ plane). The zero-field thermal conductivity of $\kappa^a_{xx}$ and $\kappa^{a*}_{xx}$ display similar temperature dependence and small difference in their magnitudes; whereas, their magnetic field (parallel to the heat current) dependence are quite different and are related to the field-induced magnetic transitions. The $\kappa^a_{xx}(B)$ data for $B \parallel a$ at very low temperatures have an anomaly at 10.25--10.5 T, which reveals an unexplored magnetic transition. The planar thermal Hall conductivity $\kappa^a_{xy}$ and $\kappa^{a*}_{xy}$ show very weak signals at low fields and rather large values with sign change at high fields. This may point to a possible magnetic structure transition or the change of the magnon band topology that induces a radical change of magnon Berry curvature distribution before entering the spin polarized state. These results put clear constraints on the high-field phase and the theoretical models for Na$_2$Co$_2$TeO$_6$.

Characterization of silicon photomultipliers for their application in muon scattering tomography

Muon scattering tomography is a non-destructive technique used to image different materials by utilizing natural cosmic ray muons. Typically it requires position-sensitive detectors with a sub-millimeter resolution to effectively distinguish high-$Z$ materials in a compact system. The plastic scintillating fiber detector is a feasible candidate and is currently being designed with one-dimensional silicon photomultiplier (SiPM) readout. In this work, we constructed experimental setups to characterize three different SiPMs from the NDL, SensL, and HPK manufacturers for optimal performance of the scintillating fiber detector. The breakdown voltage, temperature compensation factor, dark noise, and photodetection efficiency of each SiPM are evaluated and summarized. Among the SiPMs tested, the HPK SiPM demonstrated the lowest dark count rate and crosstalk probability while exhibiting the best photodetection efficiency response at the emission wavelengths of the scintillating fibers. This makes the HPK SiPM particularly well-suited to meet the requirements of the detector and serves as a reference for further customization of the one-dimensional SiPM array.
